Flexibility
2008-02-05 01:10:00 I was scheduled to go food shopping today, but I ended up staying longer in bed instead of getting up as planned. Why not? The sun didn't shine and to make it more unwelcoming, it was snowing. Not that it accumulated on the ground, but the fact that it was not as pleasing outside, I opted to stay in and moved my grocery trip tomorrow.I think it worked out good, because if I have no errand tomorrow, I might not be able to drag myself out and vote. Yes, tomorrow is the Primary Elections here in New York, and I am intending to cast my vote. Like it matters, right? Whatever... I will be there and I'll let my little voice be heard and counted. Friends: A Tag
2008-02-05 01:07:00 Anger is only one letter short of danger. If someone betrays you once, it is his fault; If he betrays you twice, it is your fault. Great minds discuss ideas; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people. He, who loses money, loses much; He, who loses a friend, loses much more; He, who loses faith, loses all. Travel Plans
2008-02-04 23:26:00 It's only the second month of the year, but this early, my husband and I are now talking about our possible travel destinations this year. Yes, it's plural as in "destinations", and the dates are set. The only way the dates will be changed would be in real extreme emergency. The dates are set in stone, so to speak. Travel ing is one of our passions as a couple and visiting exotic places are always a welcome treat to us. A trip to Egypt will be such an awesome adventure as it must be a thrill to be able to see the great heritage from the ancient world. You don't only equate Egypt to "antiquities" as nature and desert treks as well as scuba diving and fishing expeditions also abound. I would personally just want to relax and seat back right by the Egypt red sea. That said, checking on flights to Egypt should be the first step. DialAFlight.com comes in handy as I can get useful travel information. It's a one stop shop, because I can search for flights, hotels, car rentals and even... More About: Plans

My Pick
2008-02-04 21:30:00 I have been visually impaired since I was 21 years old. And vain as I am, believe it or not I use contact lenses and a variety of different prescription eyeglasses. Yes, I do own several prescription eyeglasses at one time. Why not? If one is vain like me, you'd want to make sure, your specs matches your attire. Now, I'm so happy that I can all the more afford to get several pairs of prescription eyeglasses. I couldn't believe what I discovered but yes, it's real and check out how affordable they are as one can get an $ 8 Zenni Optical Rx Eyeglasses. You are not blind, you are reading it right. Why and how? Because http://www.ZenniOptical.com manufactures and sell their own frames and it's sold directly to consumers like you and me. Direct!!! No middlemen. They are doing away with advertising to keep the cost down thus, the frames are passed on to consumers at very affordable prices. And for an eyeglass addict like me, I am so glad to finally found an optical place where I can ... How Filipino Are You?
2008-02-02 23:18:00 I’ve been tagged by Juliana, my namesake. She wants to know how Filipino her Tukayo is. I posted my answers, so please don't judge me. On the balikbayan box, you may wonder why I answered no. This being, my family really does not believe in bringing America home. A lot of the stuff from here can be had already at home, so we really don't bring boxes. It has been an ongoing practice of my family even when my parents travel. I can truthfully say, I am proud to be Pinoy. =========================== Over time, the Filipino way of living has changed a lot, thanks to the influence of the western culture. The once-simple living has gone wonderfully sophisticated that it seems we have gradually lost the traits unique us Filipinos. Even so, we can’t and won’t deny the fact that rooted in our spirit and being is the pride that we are indeed Filipinos. But how Filipino are you? Are the Filipino traits strong in you? Are you the typi...
Rain, Rain Go Away
2008-02-02 01:07:00 What a day! New York woke up to a rainy day today, the first of February, my husband's birthday. It's not only rainy but it is also windy.I was out earlier, as I had several errands planned for the day, and it was treacherous out there. I couldn't even use an umbrella because of the wind gusts. One good thing though, is that it's just plain rain and it's not mixed with sleet. It's still pouring out there and it's predicted that it will taper off tonight. Well, I just hope the sun will shine tomorrow. This is it for today...in My World. More About: Rain
My Girl Mogul
2008-02-01 22:29:00 What is the meaning of the word "mogul"? Well, based on Mr. Webster, a mogul is a powerful or influential person. You don't have to be Donald Trump or Martha Stewart to be a mogul. Anyone of us have the potential and or, we are moguls in our own right.I, however, finally found a real girl mogul. And I don't have to look far, as she is in my inner circle, and she's none other than my niece, Elise. You see, she used to be a 'tomboy' and very shy. She has however grown and she's now every inch a lady, who is very stylish, very confident and above all very smart. She bagged a scholarship in one of the prestigious private schools in Long Island and is now on her first year of the school's Physical Therapy program. Her previous semester's average is 3.7. I'm so proud of her, but you can just imagine how my sister, her mother, is so overwhelmed with her daughter's dedication and commitment to excel. This is in the midst of her volunteer work in a nearby hospital, and working t... More About: Girl , Mogul
Two Days of Spring in the Winter
2008-01-09 00:35:00 Today and yesterday's weather here on my side of the world has been pleasantly perfect. Why? The temperature rose to mid to upper 60's. It surely felt like spring.I was out both days and it sure was nice and lovely. For some reason, two days ago, I changed the look of my desktop. Sort of, I was trying to trick my head that it was already spring. Here's how it looks.Does this tell you where I'm imagining myself to be in right now?And since I've been wanting to stop un-necessary expense, I've been meaning to stop buying fresh flowers for my kitchen table. I figured, the $10 a week that I spend adds up thus, I am better off buying a flowering plant. Look at what I've got.I can't wait to see the flowers in full bloom. I hope this survives my "abuse" for a while. I really don't have a green thumb, that's why. This is it for today...in My World. More About: Winter , Spring , Days

2008-01-09 00:01:00 I don't know about you, but there's always that dash of excitement when I am inside a casino. What I'm Grateful For
2008-01-08 05:09:00 My blogger friend, Francine from France passedthis meme on to me. She wants to know eight things that I'm grateful for. There are a lot of things that I'm grateful for and eight is way too little. But since I'm asked to list only eight, I will try my best to pick the top eight.1. Good health of my family and friends of course, including me. As we all know, health is wealth.2. Having Frank for a husband and his infinite love and support. He's such a blessing. I don't know, I must have done something good, for HIM to give my husband to me.3. All the blessings that keep flowing. I couldn't ask for more. Our life as a couple is so blessed. I'm contented. Life is just pure bliss.4. My family and friends as part of my support system. Life is full of surprises, and when those unpleasant surprises arise, it's nice to have and be surrounded by people that support and love you.5. My husband's career. Why shouldn't I be thankful for this? After all, this is our only source of liv...
Love Thy Neighbor
2008-01-06 21:21:00 Or should it be: 'like thy neighbor'?. Whatever one prefers, it's normally up to the person. In my case, it's neither.I'm not referring to my neighbors on our floor, it's my parking neighbor. I am normally a cheerful, easy to get along well person. In fact, here in the neighborhood they think I'm just sweet and likeable, of course they don't know my dark side as they haven't crossed the line just yet. This parking neighbor is an exception, as they live on a different building but it's just unlucky that they have to be my parking neighbor. I have very valid reasons not to like her. They drive a Honda Odyssey, a van that's good for a family of 6. The people driving the van are the husband and wife and one of the kids. It's the woman that really gets me as she is the one that uses the van more often than any of the drivers in the family because she stays home and do a lot of errands (she has 4 kids). What does she do, for me not to like her?1. she parks the van with the t... More About: Love

Sleepless in New York
2008-01-06 02:09:00 Sounds like the famous movie: Sleepless in Seattle. But no, I'm not talking about the movie. It's my own "movie", *lol*.Last night, I went to bed past midnight. Prior to sleeping for good though, I watched telly while the husband was already in la-la-land. My last stop on TV was HSN and somehow it got stuck in my head that the show at 5:00 a.m. was about scrapbooking. I am no digi scrapper, I scrap the traditional way. Anyway, I went to sleep and immediately nodded off. Strange thing is, I found myself tossing and turning all of a sudden at about 4:30 a.m. That was it, I was suddenly wide awake in bed. So, I decided to just get up at 5:30 a.m.What did I do at 5:30 a.m.? I started dusting and cleaning up the place and water my few indoor plants after which I made my meal plan for the next two weeks and do my shopping list for this Monday's supermarket run. Then I settled in my corner in the living room and catch up on newspapers that has been waiting for me for days. All this time... More About: New York , York , New-York
Busy Afternoon
2008-01-05 00:39:00 Friday is the start of my off days for the weekend. I mean, I don't have to cook, and I have no scheduled house chores normally. Today was an exception, as I scheduled the afternoon to do my periodic clean-up in the kitchen. I clean-up as I go, but there are specific things to be done only periodically. Clean-up that I do every quarter which is almost always done at the start of the season. So, the kitchen is sparkling clean. What did I really do, you might wanna know. Here's the list:- thoroughly cleaned the exterior of the fridge using a de-greaser (taking out and putting back my husband's vast magnet collection alone is a chore in itself).- cleaned all stainless steel surfaces (appliances) using a stainless cleaner.- disinfected and polished all granite surfaces.- cleaned marble backsplash.- polished silverware (even 18/10 stainless need it once in a while)- cleaned up stained stoneware mugs (we're hot tea addicts, and the dishwasher just doesn't do as good).I am not done y... Me and Verizon
2008-01-03 21:31:00 I really believe good things come in small packages. Duh... yeah right. Well, one example based on my own personal experience is that ring wrapped in the famous aqua green box.I'm not talking about jewelries, though. I'm referring to my little victory over Verizon . We are one of those loyal Verizon subscribers. Whether wireless, home phone and the internet , we have Verizon as our service provider. To us, they have the best wireless service as my husband's cell phone was passed on from one person to the next in his office during that infamous blackout within the US three years ago. It was the only service provider with signal. Add to that the fact that the husband gets 20% discount on our wireless account. As our international and local provider for our home phone, no matter how much taxes and surcharges they tuck into the bill, I still suck up to them. You know why? Because I may not have the best deal, but I am guaranteed service even through power interruptions. Yes, I don't ...

System
2008-01-03 01:47:00 Whatever we're doing, whether at work or at home, it's good to have a solid system. Some may think it's a crazy idea to systematize the way we do things even at home, but it's not for me. System s when at work, whether we're talking about high tech or simple system without the use of a machine has been proven useful, so why not do the same thing in running once household? My household is not a complicated one, as it's only my husband and me. Prior to moving here, it was the same thing, as I used to live only with my live-in househelp as soon as I started working and got my own place. Believe me, even my househelp's routine was drafted and finalized by me, just so I can help her manage her day. Now, on my own running my household, it works the same way. Since I don't have a live-in househelp as I'm used to, I do most of the household chores myself. The luxury of being home is a real big plus as I can spread out all the household chores to be done within the weekdays, as compare...
Reliable System
2008-01-02 20:27:00 My sister is the Director of a private home care agency. The start of this year, they are planning to fully automate the system, to support the coordinators in placement of day to day coverage. Having been in management in my previous life, my sister comes to me for inputs and suggestions. Upon knowing about this plan, I admonished her to check out PragmaSys.com, a company that has more than 16 years of experience in providing focused, fast and reliable solutions for networking and connectivity needs. Her large scale home care business needs a fast 32 bit or a 64 bit SFTP Server that is secure and reliable. At PragmaSys.com, the SFTP Server will work seamlessly with Windows user accounts across the network and provides secure end to end file transfers with the heavy volume of files processed each day. PragmaSys also uses FIPS compliant AES encryption (128,192,256 bits) for authentication and file transfers. These are really great features of a SFTP server. It will surely be a winning ... iPod Case
2008-01-02 19:18:00 I'm on the hunt for a one of a kind iPod case. I said one of a kind because I want to get the best protection that I can avail of for a cherished piece of gadget. Well, this is not actually for me, but a present for someone very special whose birthday is coming up in a few weeks. I am not only giving the iPod, but also the ipod case. It's for someone so dear, so why not go all out, right?I found out that I can purchase a case that exactly meet my requirement. A strong shield for the iPod. It's called the invisibleShield. I gathered that it's made from the toughest, most enduring scratch protection film available in this planet. How is that? Because it's strenght has been proven time and again as it has been widely used in the US military, to protect the edges of helicopter blades. It's a clear, urethane plastic that's invisible and flexible enough to wrap around an entire device or gadget. Thus, at ShieldZone.com, this type of ipod case can be availed from them. They can actu... More About: Ipod , Case

2008-01-02 00:13:00 First day of 2008 ... Here we are at home spending the first day of the new year. The husband of course, is off from work today and we have been tinkering around the house all day. Living in New York
2007-12-31 23:54:00 It is no secret how I feel about living in the United States. I am not living here because I wanted to, but I am here because my heart led me to reside in this country. My husband knows so well how I dislike being away from home, and I would tell him every once in a while that I can just flip one day and I'll return back home. To this he always says: I'll go with you wherever you're going.Today's experience is one classic day in the life of an immigrant(though, I am a US citizen on papers, I still don't fit the bill of being American). I got on the elevator where we live, and one white, american woman probably in her early 70's was there. She cheerfully greeted me with a smile and here's how the conversation went:old woman: have you been out earlier?me: no, i'm heading out the first time today.ow: you must be working for someone here.me: no I live here with my husbandow: oh, I thought you're working here.me: no, I stay home and I live with my husband, I work for him(laughte...
