Just spent
2007-11-20 04:52:00 Yes, that is how I feel right now. Just spent... after hours of working around the 12 lbs. turkey and all the side dishes. I feel like I really prepared a Thanksgiving dinner for four. I made more than enough. No, we didn't finish the whole turkey *lol*. Needless to say, we were both full and contented.I am not posting any pics nor letting you know of the results just yet. I'm just too tired to even upload the pics. Tomorrow, you'll get to see the bird. This is it for today...in My World.
Late Dinner
2007-11-14 01:42:00 The husband called a few minutes ago to let me know he's leaving the office. See what a difference a day makes?Last night at about this time, he was already home and in fact, our supper was almost about done. What did we have last night? Here, chicken and buttered steamed broccoli. I'm not really a "chicken person". Frank loves thin breaded cutlets like these. He just keeps eating like a madman once these are on the dinner table. I just started to cook tonight's dinner menu, ready for the king when he walks in. More About: Dinner , Late
Ski Camp
2007-11-14 00:45:00 It's now that time of the year when ski lovers frolic in their most loved place on earth, the slopes at Mt. Hood in Oregon. But how about aspiring athletes that are yearning to learn more and improve their craft? The National Alpine Ski Camp in Mt Hood Oregon, has America's top ski educators. They strive to teach young athletes as young as 8 years old how to ski and race effectively in a safe and caring environment. What can be better than being trained, where the athlete to coach ratio is only five to one. Plus the fact, that the educators design a learning program specific to each athlete's motivation and learning capability. This ensures highly effective learning condition and the athlete's ability to learn is not sacrificed. In fact, the National Alpine Ski Camp has produced more past and present US Ski team members and coaches in America more than any other commercial ski camp around. Different programs are offered and they have consistently provided the most extensive ski c...
Turkey for Thanksgiving?
2007-11-13 23:35:00 Remember that turkey in my freezer? The one that's been frozen for almost a year. Finally, I made up my mind to try and roast it next week. NO, I'm not hosting any Thanksgiving dinner. At least not yet. I'm roasting it for just hubby and me and it won't be roasted on Thanksgiving Day. I'm planning to make it on Monday.I'm so ready to experiment. My meat thermometer is ready. I just couldn't see myself taking a chance not to have this gadget and make a whole 12 lbs. turkey. Now, what am I gonna do with that 12 lbs? Recipes for left-overs are also in place. Which means, we will be ingesting this turkey for the next 3 dinners after Monday's dinner next week. Yahooo I'm all for this adventure. It's my very first time to try to make one and for some reason I'm excited. Should this adventure be a success, I tell you, I will be ready to host that Thanksgiving Dinner in two years. I repeat IN TWO YEARS! And, I'm not disclosing for now the reasons behind the timing. One thing's f... More About: Turkey , Hank , Turk

What's for dinner?
2007-11-13 18:05:00 I don't know. As I've mentioned in previous entries, I normally make my menu plan for the next two weeks every time I go to the supermarket. The thing is, I have this tendency to change my mind, so I end up not following specific days when to make a certain dish. This way, Frank has no clue what dish will be served. He has this habit of looking at the menu plan posted on the fridge, so I play the game with him *lol*.See how "babaw" we are? This is it for today...in My World. More About: Dinner
Holiday Cards
2007-11-13 17:27:00 The Holiday s is almost here. I know I need to go ahead and pick out Holiday Cards we'll be sending. More so, that a lot of them has to be sent to the Philippines and it normally takes two weeks to get there.VistaPrint.com is my online source of Holiday Cards this year. With the numerous designs that are available, I will certainly be able to get my preferred style. Some of the cards I'll be sending out this year will be Custom Personalized cards. Since the personalization tool at Vistaprint.com is so easy to use, I will definitely go for it so I am not sending uniform cards. You just select the style of card you want, pick the template and customize!Actually last weekend, I've gotten Frank to pose(of course, using a tripod)with me for pictures that I'll be using for personalization of the Holiday cards. I better hurry, I really want them to be out the door in a couple of weeks.
Kirkland Fruitcake
2007-11-13 03:20:00 We bought fruitcake from Costco, a few weeks ago. They're the pre-packaged kind with the Kirkland brand. As soon as I saw it, I wanted to get it because I got reminded of a fruitcake I'm used to getting as a present from one of my former colleagues at Procter & Gamble. It's so delicious. It's made by my friend's mother, a British national. Every Christmas, I used to look forward to that fruitcake. Now, this Kirkland fruitcake was so bad, it tasted like sugar. After my first bite, I knew my $12.99 was gonna go down the garbage bin. Believe it or not, it's that bad, that I only took just one bite. So buyers, beware... More About: Klan
Magic Loans
2007-11-13 02:40:00 Homeowners are aware that should they be in a dire situation and there's nothing else they can do to alleviate money problems, they can always take out Secured Home Loans , which means they can borrow money using their homes as collateral. But as I learned from the online site Magic Loans.co.uk, one should be careful in obtaining loans using their homes as collateral, because once they can't keep up with repayments, the home can be repossessed. What a nice reminder even coming from a site that makes business out of lending money to homeowners. This speaks well to me, that MagicLoans.co.uk isn't just out there to make money. The website is easy to navigate and it's a good resource for homeowners in the U.K. that are looking to secure a loan ranging from £5,000 or £250,000. The budget calculator online helps one to determine the right amount of loan to take out. Repayment term of 3 and up to 30 years offers great flexibility to homeowners. Check out the site, it's neat and straight...
Early dinner
2007-11-13 01:22:00 I couldn't be any happier. Tonight is the first time in ages that we're having dinner at a normal time when most people have theirs on a weeknight. The husband came home early, as today is Veteran's Day and it's a bank holiday. For some reason though, Wall Street decided to be open today, so he wasn't off from work. It wasn't a stressful day due to banks being closed I guess, thus he was able to leave work at 4:30. The market was down again, though.I better go and set the table. Dinner 's ready in just a few minutes. More About: Early
Locking Mailbox
2007-11-13 00:51:00 I have found the perfect holiday present for my sister. And when I tell you it's perfect, it really is perfect for someone like her, that's into home decoration and obsessed of her house's curb appeal.I kid you not, when I say that she has a collection of locking mailboxes. Of the eight years that she and her family stayed in this house, she has so far changed her security mailboxes four times. She's had wall mount, post mount, multi-unit and single-unit locking mailboxes in different styles. As far as she's concerned, the mailbox should be treated like the home's front door. They should be beautiful and appealing, because they add to the beauty of the home's curb appeal. Now, since her house is Victorian style, this ecco Victorian wall mount mailbox in rust brown which I found at mailboxixchange.com will be an impressive addition to her collection and of course, to her house's curb appeal once it's installed. Furniture Online
2007-11-12 22:47:00 I just found a site online and I tell you, it's a one stop furniture store. Whether you are looking to upgrade your Home Office Furniture , Living Room Furniture and your Bedroom Furniture, FurnitureFromHome.com is the place to go to online.I am totally amazed at the various style and selection there is available. One is sure to find that much sought after Living Room Furniture. The Huge Oversized Sectional Leather Sofa really caught my eye as I've been on the hunt for a couch lately. The site is very user friendly. You can shop by room, by style or by color and I also like the idea that one can shop by collection. There's no second guessing which furniture style and finish goes well with another piece in one's room. Oh, and the prices are very competitive, and they have the most fair return policies online, which is so important to know. One can be leary sometimes about shopping for furniture online. But with a very good return policy, this shouldn't be a problem. Plus of co... More About: Online
Supermarket Shopping
2007-11-12 22:33:00 I'm done with my supermarket shopping at the two supermarkets I always go to every two weeks. Good thing is, I finished up pretty early unlike most Mondays, when I'm still running around at 3:00 p.m. It pays to wake up early.I couldn't resist to get several fresh fruits today. I always make sure to control my purchase though, as it's just the two of us, and most of the time they end up in the garbage because they're already too ripe and inedible. Aren't they gorgeous? (except for that one piece of banana I had a few days ago and about to go).Just hope they taste good too. This is it for today...in My World. More About: Shopping , Supermarket

Why Berlin and Vienna
2007-11-11 20:47:00 I kid you not when I say two of the places that are in our must-visit list are Berlin and Vienna . I am just in awe about the cultural attractions and the people on these two European destinations.Berlin is one of Europe's most vibrant, exciting and ever evolving capitals. Wherever you go, you feel a certain kind of vibe as you can see in the art galleries, the boulevards, flea markets and bars, restaurants and clubs that are open round the clock. Seeing the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra would be such an awesome experience. Hotels in Berlin are aplenty. Each of them have something unique to offer to different types of travellers and guests. The Adlon Hotel is one of the hotels in Berlin that caught my attention while browsing online. There's some kind of magical spell even just by looking at the hotel's structure.Vienna on the other hand, has it's own unique character with its imposing architecture and landscape and is the capital of Austria. They are well known for their coffee ...

Long-term Care
2007-11-11 05:13:00 It's a fact of life that sooner or later we will reach old age. Do you think it's important to plan ahead and have the proper long term care in place? To us, this is very important. That's why as early as now, my husband and I have been looking into it. It's a known fact that at this time we're still childless. Not that it matters, but all the more we think, we should plan ahead, as there's no child or children that we can depend on when the time comes. We want to have the option of being able to pick what kind of care we will have. I very well know that nursing homes are aplenty but it doesn't necessarily mean that they're all the same as to the kind of care accorded. I learned about this from the Bettercaring website. You get a dedicated service at the Bettercaring site and get crucial answers to your questions as well as different care options available, daily care news and tips from care experts. And of course, you can browse through listing of available care homes in you... More About: Care , Long , Term
Gas prices
2007-11-11 04:59:00 I just can't believe how gas prices has been rising steadily. The last time I went to pump gas, mid-grade was at $3.29/gallon. Oh, I shouldn't say I pumped gas because I really didn't. I'm just so used having the gas attendant pump the gas in my car, that I don't go to self-serve pumps. I can save a few cents by doing it, but I'm stupid. I think I'm still in the Philippines *lol*. I'm so used to it and I vowed to never get my hands into pumping gas in the car.Meantime, I shouldn't complain about the price, right? I could save a little but I refuse to do what's needed to be done. Just plain stupid me *lol*. More About: Gas Prices , Prices
That digital moment
2007-11-11 03:54:00 My niece, Elise graduated from high school last June. She's not only close to me, but also to my husband. Believe it or not, they're so close, that my niece confides to him and seeks advice from him even about boys. As early as January this year, she already informed us about the date of her graduation and that us not being there will disappoint her. We went to Maine in June, but we had to cut short our vacation so we're there to witness her graduation. We gave her a Canon PowerShot SD1000 digital camera as our present to her. We know so well that she'll put it to good use, as she has been into digital photography for many years already. I was just talking to her yesterday, and she was so proud to tell me that she had just put together a digital scrapbook using pictures she had taken with her Canon PowerShot. I am a novice with digital photography as I had just gotten my first digital camera ever last May. I own a Canon PowerShot SD850 IS and I'm so loving it. Now, I don't won... Let it be Teak
2007-11-11 00:26:00 A friend of mine who lives in California just couldn't stop raving about the outdoor teak tables she got for her backyard. She actually has two tables because she loves having family and friends around. Summer's gone but with the nice weather in California year round, she also entertains in their backyard all year.I definitely agree with her, because I know so well how durable teak woods are especially these ones she got, because she purchased them from befurnished.com. They guarantee that you are buying 100% teak wood that are harvested from government regulated and sustainable teak plantations. The big plus is, she had these tables customized by befurnished, so she has the specifications she wanted.Teak wood's durability is known to withstand year round outdoor exposure. With it's natural oils, they can be left untreated and still look beautiful yet resistant to mildew, rot, termites and warping. Thus, making them a lifetime investment. Now, can I really blame her "love affair...

Paula's Choice
2007-10-28 22:37:00 One day, when I was at a Barnes & Nobles bookstore, I came across this book on the shelf.I flipped through the pages, and I must tell you I got hooked. My instinct told me though, that I can buy it cheaper at amazon.com. As soon as I got home, I searched through amazon.com and voila, there it was ,cheaper by $6. I ordered it and in a few days, the book was delivered. This book has changed the way I look at skin care products and cosmetics. For years, I was just hooked into branded department store brands of skin care and cosmetics. But, because of my continuous battle with periodic zits, I have tried the cheapest to the most expensive anti-acne line from the drugstores to the department stores and infomercials. Numerous visits to the dermatologist and topical solutions didn't do any good. Two years ago though, I finally said goodbye to zits. Paula's Choice was the answer. This thick 1357 pages book is a guide to over 35,000 skin care and cosmetics products from high end to low e...
Online store
2007-10-27 22:12:00 After Frank's first selling experience online, he is now seriously considering putting up his own online store. He figures, if he has his own online selling store, he won't have to pay extra fees per item sold. You see, having a reliable shopping cart software is key to building good business. Not only that, with the shopping cart software at ashopcommerce.com you are assured of being able to compete even with other websites that are powerful.Frank was kind of apprehensive about the technology, which I understand because we are both newbies as far as etechnology is concerned. Long day
2007-10-27 21:15:00 Yesterday was one of those days when I vowed to get out of bed and get going early. I sure did and for once, Frank didn't have a hard time waking me up.It was gonna be a soggy and rainy day as per weather forecast, with the rain coming in the afternoon. I wanted to run to Costco for my regular household stuff. We were off to an early and quick breakfast by 9:00 a.m at the Vegas Diner. Sure enough, we were on our way to Costco about 15 minutes to 11:00, just in time for the store's opening. There was a little delay en route to the store because of some roadworks. And once in the store, who would have thought there's another delay just to get in. The escalator going to the upper level was not working. Right by the entrance, store personnel are informing shoppers that if they need to go up to the second level, going there first is a better way and just get a shopping cart once you're up there.Shoppers had to wait in line to get on a lift to the second floor. We got on the commerci... More About: Long
