SMART Boards and Secret Resource Locations
2008-03-19 13:50:00 Shhhhh. I have a secret. Make sure everyone has left the room. Did you know that you can save and share your favorite websites with other people? You can! And one great way to do this is by using del.icio.us. del.icio.us is called a social bookmarking website. You can use del.icio.us to: * Keep links to your favorite articles, blogs, music, reviews, recipes, and more, and access them from any computer on the web. * Share favorites with friends, family, coworkers, and the del.icio.us community. * Discover new things. Everything on del.icio.us is someone's favorite -- they've already done the work of finding it. So del.icio.us is full of bookmarks about technology, entertainment, useful information, and more. Explore and enjoy. So what's the big deal? Well, a lot of people who use SMART Boards save their favorite interactive whiteboard websites using del.icio.us. Here are two great del.icio.us sites to browse through if you're looking for some good resources: ... More About: Smart , Secret , Locations , Resource
SMART Board and Litebrite
2008-03-18 15:44:00 I know a lot of teachers are looking for some fun activities for the SMART Board this week. I am very disappointed with many of the Internet games I've found for the Spring/Easter holiday due to the number of advertisements contained on these websites. Therefore, I'm going to share with you another fun site that will allow your students to create, share, and save pictures using a "Lite Brite" online simulator. You could have your students create a fun holiday picture or use it as an educational tool by having your students design patterns or different types of shapes. I think it's a simple and fun tool to use on your SMARTBoard interactive whiteboard. Sharing is Caring! More About: Smart

Subscribing to SMART Board Resources
2008-03-14 15:12:00 Recently, I posted a short article called "Sharing is Caring" on the new Digital Learning Environments website. In this article I discuss why teachers should share what they know and I provide some great examples of how other teachers are sharing resources. The easiest way to keep up-to-date with what other teachers are sharing is to subscribe to their resources so you're notified whenever they make updates. Here are a few of the places I visited this week that I believe are worthy of a subscription: 1. The Whiteboard Blog by Danny Nicholson: This blog contains "Hints, tips, news and discussion about the use of Interactive Whiteboards and other technologies in the classroom." Click Here to Subscribe 2. ICT and Learning blog by Ross Hampton: His latest post talks about a good online photo editor. Click Here to Subscribe 3. ICT in my Classroom blog by Tom Barrett: Always a great blog to add to your Google Reader. Click Here to Subscribe 4. The EDC... More About: Resources , Smart , Board
SMART Board and Travel IQ Challenge
2008-03-11 14:46:00 Check out what Danny Nicholson from The Whiteboard Blog found as a replacement for Geosense... It's the Travel IQ Challenge from Travelpod.com. Since they allow you to embed the game into any website, I'm providing the game on one of my pages so it's free from advertisements. I'm certainly glad Danny got back from his vacation so he could share this. Don't forget to check out his blog as well as his company's website, Think Bank Ltd, that contains all sorts of great resources for your interactive whiteboard. Smartboard and Math Dictionary
2008-01-10 17:58:00 I love when readers of Teachers Love SMART Boards recommend SMART Board resources. Sharing resources is the ultimate goal of this blog. I have been getting some great recommendations lately through my twitter network, the Teachers Love SMART Board forum, and direct email. I want to share one of these recommendations today that was posted on the forum by TechMom. The site is called A Math s Dictionary for Kids 2007 created by Jenny Eather. What's great about this site is how thorough it is. Moreover, many definitions include interactions (perfect for the Smartboard) to reinforce the material and make it easier to understand. What a wonderful way to introduce new math concepts! Thank you "TechMom" for this wonderful suggestion!!! Sharing is caring!
Smartboards and visual search engine Pagebull
2008-01-09 15:01:00 The SMART Board interactive whiteboard is such a great visual tool for the classroom. Wouldn't it be great to combine this feature with a search engine? Well, now you can. Pagebull is a new visual search engine that shows a "visual representation of your search results on the screen so you can see the page before you go to the site." Here are the results for the search "smartboard games"(click picture for larger view) Don't forget to share this resource with the people you know! Sharing is Caring! SMART Board and Imagination Cubed
2008-01-07 15:11:00 I'm so excited this morning since so many teachers are returning to the classroom today; I always loved returning from Winter break full of new ideas and new enthusiasm. I have a great new tool recommended to me by my good friend Lori called Imagination Cubed from GE. This is a great tool to use with your SMART Board ! Basically it allows you to draw anything on the SMART Board using freehand or shape tools. What's cool about it is that you can replay what you did and it will animate your drawing and play it back for you. It also allows you to share, collaborate, and update drawing with multiple people. You can even invite people to come and draw with you. You really need to try to see what it does. Trust me, you'll love it!! Thanks for sharing Lori! Sharing is Caring! More About: Smart
Smartboards and Animal Care Lessons
2008-01-06 15:23:00 My good friend Danny from across the pond tipped me off on the UK's RSPCA website for learning about caring for animals. The RSPCA promotes kindness and preventing cruelty to animals and in doing so has created a great interactive resource for your SMART Board interactive whiteboard. The beautifully designed learning resource includes engaging graphics that discuss how to find a home, how to care for your pet, and what rights are provided to animals under the law. All the activities are set up to work great on the Smartboard and the interactive story called Jake and Bones is a wonderful way to learn about finding a new home for your pet. This site has been SMART Board tested and Hollis approved. Sharing is Caring! More About: Animal , Care , Lessons
SMART Board Educational Games
2008-01-03 14:22:00 Looking for something fun and educational to get your students actively engaged in the learning process following the long holiday break? Take a look at these great games (over 40) from the CYBERCHASE PBSKids website. I love this site because most of the games work very well with the SMART Board since you can simply touch areas of the Smart board to work the games. Here's a screen shot from one of my favorite games Crack Hacker's Safe: CYBERCHASE teaches kids that math is everywhere, everyone can be good at it, and it's fun! For more information about what this wonderful site has to offer, please go to the "About Page" to learn how to best use the site. Sharing is Caring! More About: Games , Educational
Smartboard and Sudoku
2008-01-01 17:32:00 I had a request for an online Sudoku game that works easily with the SMART Board. Here is my favorite online Sudoku game from Fact Monster that has different levels, allows the user to tap the square to select the number, has a learning option, and provides touch-and-drag stickies to help solve the puzzle. Here is another version of Sudoku that also works well with the SMART Board. You can download this and use it inside your Notebook software. Please use this for educational purposes only. Happy New Year! Sharing is Caring |
