Post Secret Pic of the Day
2006-12-24 12:09:00
The same friend I've been writing about, the one who is stuck in an abusive marriage and who just had a wreck because her husband wrapped her car around a telephone pole one night while he was drunk, had her eye socket crushed-her cheekbone crushed-ribs broken and several limbs. He hit her the other day on her eye. Never mind that he shouldn't be hitting her at all, but he hit her on the eye that she had surgery on. The one in which the eye socket was crushed in the wreck. Bastard. I could wring his neck myself, but I don't want to be jailed for assault and battery. She won't leave him, though, so it becomes this vicious cycle. He hits her, she makes excuses for it or brags about how he hit her and she kicked his ass or something. Something to make the abuse seem to be less than what it is. God forbid I should say something like, "He is physically abusive to you. He shouldn't be hitting you at all." I think she would agree with me, but keep on doing her own thing. I've known h...

More On Neurotransmitters
2006-12-23 21:13:00
Ok, since I can't find my book Addiction: From Biology to Drug Policy I'll relate some information on neurotransmitters from my notes on the lectures from that class. (I got a burst of energy late one night and just had to rearrange my entire bookcase.) So, I'll apologize in advance if the information is a bit jumbled. If any of you have taken classes on the college level and have taken notes, you'll know that lecture notes tend to hop around some because the professors hop from topic to topic, especially Psych. professors. Also, it might be a bit refreshing to have lecture notes instead of me just referencing text from a book. I know it's been nearly a month since I've posted the last actual information post, but I did drag out all of my Psych. books today in preparation for more consistent posts in this blog.Lecture Notes-1/31/06The communication between neurons, muscles and glands is chemical, not electrical.Neuromuscular JunctionSkeletal Muscle- Chemical signals from the b...

Soapbox Jury
2006-12-18 00:13:00
My renter this week is Soap box Jury. It's a blog review site and unlike most of the others I've seen, it's mainly positive. I like that. A lot. It seems like our culture is based on negativity and it's refreshing to find someone who swims against the current, so to speak. There are some interesting blogs that have been reviewed on this site and I encourage everyone to go and poke around on it. I'm sure you'll find something that you like. Now, here are the others who bid to be my renter this week:Forever 17She also bid on my other blog I Will Not Eat The Darkness and I kidded a bit about her being 17. I'm assuming she's 17, hence the title of her blog. But, seriously, there's nothing bad about being 17 at all and y'all should seriously go check out her blog.Scooter McGavin's 9th GreenScooter has been my renter before and he's just great. He's a veritable corucopeoia (sp?) of information. I think I'll start calling him Scootercyclopedia. :D

Tom In Newcastle
2006-11-30 06:49:00
My renter this week is Tom Jackson Online. I really like his blog. He posts about all sorts of things. The latest post is about bees possibly becoming the next tool in the war on terror. I know, it sounded kind of weird to me, too. But, go...read the post. It's true. He's so intelligent and he's a big fan of the Wizard of Oz, which makes him uber-cool with me. He has all this background info on one of his posts about the filming of the movie. I kept finding myself saying, "Oh my God" over and over again while reading his blog. Give him a click and look around his blog. You'll be glad you did and don't forget to check out the pictures in the sidebar on the right-hand side. Very cool.

A Unicycling Materialistic Minimalist
2006-11-21 23:24:00
I have my very first renter on my new blog this week, lilfunky1~a unicycling materialistic minimalist (try saying that five times fast). She's an extremely unique person. She has a great nose piercing (according to her picture), which I'd never be brave enough to get. I've heard that Septum piercings are among the most painful piercings a person can get. So, kudos to her for putting on her big-girl pants and going through with it. She also has tongue piercings, which are very cool, but again, something I couldn't do. I can just see myself knocking one of my teeth out with the ball of the piercing. I love facial piercings, though. I have a nose ring and I used to have a Monroe, but I had to take that out because it never really healed and it's really hard to get Psychology professors to take you seriously with a bunch of facial piercings. Unfortunate, but true. She also rides a unicycle. Honestly, how many people do you know who ride a unicycle? I don't know anyone in real life...
