Short cut to Digg fame
2007-03-01 16:40:02 Digg is one of the most visited website in the world. A story on the front page can earn you 1000s of hits in minutes. Even after every effort by Digg to stop spam, people have manipulated the website to their advantage. There is a site called U/S which charges $1 per digg. Four and a half hours later, I was the only person who had dugg my story. That’s when I hired a Digg-gaming service called User/Submitter, or U/S. This enterprise, run by one or more zealously anonymous individuals, advertises that it can help “submitters” get Digg stories noticed by paying “users” to digg them. There’s a $20 sign-up fee and each digg costs $1, which gets split evenly between the service and the digger. U/S refunds money paid for any diggs the submitter doesn’t get in a 48-hour period. I put down $450 for 430 diggs, but wound up getting refunded all but roughly $100 of that. (Wired News is owned by CondéNet, which also owns Digg competitor reddit.)... Kulbhusan, according to the police, was upset over the relationship and had told his daughter Rajni to stop meeting the boy. When the girl refused, he strangled her. His brother Mahendra and son Dushyant helped him dump the body. The three allegedly burnt the body to hide their crime. When I first saw this picture, my immediate attention went to that auto wala in the picture. 5 years of my stay in Chennai have made me hate them to the utmost degree. They look like extortionist to me. There have been very few occasions in which I happily parted out with the money. The meters are doctored so never ever go my meter in Chennai. Plus being non-Tamilian is a big factor, it basically multiplies the fare my 1.5 or even 2. There have been few incidents worth of a mention- 1. I was returning from Chennai Central at around 11 in the night. I thought of taking the local train back but to my surprise the local train station was already deserted. What does it take to be a good writer?
2007-02-17 16:27:01 This question first came to my mind when I read a paragraph in one the job tests in early December. I have been wondering about it since then. After nearly 2 months of contemplating I am coming establishing the following beliefs without even a shadow of doubt- (GW- good writer) 1. A good writer needs a tough childhood. He/she should have been bullied as a child. GW is very emotional and sensitive as a child. A GW is someone who always feels jealous of someone’s success and translates his emotions in the form of prejudiced writing. His/her inspirations seem to have been drawn out of his frustration at not being able to bully someone else. As a child GW lacks the exuberance of a child. GW always prefers seclusion; no wonder GW has no or few friends. GW needs someone to demonize and blame all his/her woes on that ’someone’. I was trying to explore the mind set of a victimized person. What I did in that post was weave my case. Assume many things, be extremely cynical and attribute all evil to X and its friends. Its because I was MAD that day. I wanted to assume things which are anti-me and this further augment my anger towards X. Why? Well so that I can hate X to the utmost degree for what it has done to me. I assumed extreme prowess on the part of X and a victimized mentality on my part. This is what victimized mentality does to your thinking. You tend to assume things which are not at all true. This victimized feeling can very easily be created. 55 hours train ride
2007-02-06 10:19:01 I finally went home after 8 months, project and placements kept me busy throughout. I actually took a Detour to Hazaribagh via Patna. My initial train ride from Chennai to Patna was of 44 hours. The train actually reached 1 hour early, it was supposed to reach by 9 AM but it reached by 8 PM! The reason for this phenomenal punctuality; well the train driver insisted on attending his father’s marriage so we were stuck at Jabalpur for the entire night. It was cold outside but we had a nice sleep in the compartment which was kept warm even though the train was not moving. I didn’t have anything to read so most of the time I was lying on my berth and just observing people around me. The ones who got the berth below me were 2 married women going to Patna. One was obsessed with her recent marriage, understandably, and other was a typical Indian naari, busy with her cute girl child and ignoring the men who were discussing politics.
