Pinoy R.N. 2.0
2008-03-29 20:59:00
Pinoy R.N. just got a virtual surgery... Ok, the right word is upgrade.Actually, the upgrade is long overdue. This blog has been using the same old tired 'tic tac' template since its inception in December of 2005.The old template had very limited feature set and was restricted to manual HTML and CSS coding whenever some tweaking was necessary. Doing back-end maintenance on the blog was both tedious and time-consuming with all the cryptic html codes. So, this author finally took the plunge and upgraded to a newer and easier to use drag and drop template. Now with little or less time spent on back-end tweaking, Pinoy R.N. readers can expect more up-to-date nursing updates and information from this side of the world wide web.Don't forget to vote in our poll and let us know what you think of the new Pinoy R.N.Visit www.PinoyRN.co.nr now for other up-to-date nursing news and information.

Update on the December 2007 Nursing Board Exam Results
2008-02-21 06:14:00
In an interview over Inquirer.net, Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) chair Leonor Tripon Rosero said that the results of the December 1 and 2, 2007 Nurse Licensure Exam ination will be released Thursday February 21, 2008.A nursing blog (not Pinoy R.N.) erroneously reported a supposed quote from a member of the PRC-Board of Nursing saying that the results would come out by February 20, 2008. As a result, thousands of nursing examinees flocked to the PRC website (www.prc.gov.ph) which resulted to the server going down due to limited internet hosting bandwidth. In the same Inquirer.net interview, Rosero said that the national passing rate was 43.42 percent. She added that it was “within the usual range.”Pinoy R.N. will post the results here as soon as it is officially released by the PRC.Source: Inquirer.net ReportVisit www.PinoyRN.co.nr now for other up-to-date nursing news and information.

TV Report: DoLE and DoH Seek Measures to Abate Pinoy Nurse Migration
2008-01-10 08:16:00
A television report said that the Department of Labor (DoLE) and the Department of Health (DoH) were seeking measures to address deteriorating patient care in the country by making it difficult for filipino nurses working in government hospitals to migrate and seek employment abroad.ABS-CBNś Bandila reported that the measure was necessary to address the chronic lack of nursing and medical personnel in government hospitals and the continuing deterioration of patient care in the country. However, it was unclear as to how the two agencies planned to implement the measure.Meanwhile, the Philippine Nurse s Association called the proposed measure as unfair saying the government should not prevent nurses from seeking better employment abroad considering the lack of career advancement opportunities locally. Chatroom Reset Scheduled at Midnight Tonight
2007-11-05 15:33:00
ANNOUNCEMENT...The Pinoy R.N. Chatroom will be reset tonight at midnight (12:00 AM November 6, 2007) to address the persistent automatic ban problem of the chat software. ...As an unavoidable consequence of the reset, all chatroom information such as member and moderator lists will be reset too. Everybody will be back to guest status....As such, new moderators (a few will be retained) will be appointed as there have been a barrage of e-mail complaints about moderators not implementing the guidelines to the letter. Some even violate the rules themselves. This difficult decision is in compliance with the XAT terms of use which requires the chatroom to be moderated at all times (meaning guidelines are implemented 24/7). Please note that requests for mod status will not be entertained. ...Questions, comments, and suggestions may be directed to lylesantos (at) yahoo.com...News, Articles, and Information for the Filipino Nurse.

RETROGRESSION UPDATEThe much talked-about Labor Health and Human Services appropriations bill, where a recapture of 61,000 nurse visas was initially attached, was approved yesterday by a combined conference committee of both the U.S. House and Senate. The recapture provision would have provided temporary relief to the lingering nurse visa backlog that is projected to last until 2009 with the looming U.S. presidential election.Meanwhile, the law firm Hammond Law Group (HLG) predicts that another bridge amendment would be introduced soon in one of the forthcoming budget bills.News, Articles, and Information for the Filipino Nurse.
