2007-05-13 20:12:00 MPAA Says Tobacco Use Could Lead To A More Adult Rating(AP) Smoking will be a bigger factor in determining film ratings, the Motion Picture Association of America said Thursday, but critics said the move does not go far enough to discourage teens from taking up the habit.MPAA Chairman Dan Glickman said his group's ratings board, which previously had considered underage smoking in assigning film ratings, now will take into account smoking by adults, as well.That adds smoking to a list of such factors as sex, violence and language in determining the MPAA's G, PG, PG-13, R and NC-17 ratings.Film raters will consider the pervasiveness of tobacco use, whether it glamorizes smoking and the context in which smoking appears, as in movies set in the past when smoking was more common.Some critics of Hollywood's depictions of tobacco in films have urged that movies that show smoking be assigned an R rating, which would restrict those younger than 17 from seeing them."I'm glad it's finally... Trial, Error, and Victory
2007-04-29 02:50:00 (click either image for larger view)Nothing much happening today really; so I thought I'd throw up some trial and error.The first piece is just me trying a scratching technique I've been working with. As you can see it still needs some work.The second is part of my constant struggle against drawing human anatomy poorly.Last but not least, the Yankees finally won a game. Hopefully they can put a nice little streak together now. More likely however our starter will go two innings tomorrow, and the bullpen will throw 900 pitches. I may be a bit pessimistic. The Palette Fillers

Album of the Week: Drum's Not Dead - Liars
2007-04-25 20:07:00 I bought the EP on a blind buy, and came to find out the album had built a large underground following. After picking it up I can see why.I can't get enough of "Be Quiet Mt. Heart Attack", it's the lead song and is probably the best on the album. However, I really love the whole thing; I've listened to it more than once while sketching, and have gotten some great results.Here's hoping they put out something even close to this good next time.
