The Friendly Site Award!
2007-10-24 02:07:00
Speedycat Hollydale is one of the nicest new friends I've met lately. And I'm not saying this because he gave me an award, ...well, no, it's because he is a nice and funny blogger, with a great sense of humor, a funny bone that runs in the family according to his post on Santa's Community blog.Evidently, on a shopping trip during the holiday's, Speedy's eyebrows were still painted from playing Santa, but nobody told him. It's a really funny post, and I think he's going to be a fun fellow blogger. I look forward to more laughs Speedy and I thank you for your generous heart. Speedy was given this really nice award by Erina from Into The Inkpot, (isn't that a neat name?)Erina tried to find the creator of the award to give them credit, but was unable to to find out where it originated. So please, if it's you or you know where we can credit the link, please let someone know. It's really pretty and a nice thought so everyone wants to thank the creator. I think the following bl...

What Is Your Most Memorable Grade School Experience?
2007-10-23 16:28:00
Welcome to Tuesday's Question! Please forgive my sluggishness this morning. My world is a little haywire right now. I have several friends in danger of losing their homes due to the fires raging across California. I was on the phone half the night, listening to shaken voices speaking in terrified tones, so it's hard to wrap my brain around Tuesday's Question this morning. Although I know if I asked these friends if I should go on as planned today, they would want me to post Tuesday's Question. Therefore, I decided to use some questions from a popular post already written entitled, Do You Remember Your First Childhood Crush? I know many of you already answered that question when I wrote it. That's why I came up with another one that fit the post nicely, entitled... What is Your Most Memorable Grade School Experience ? This post of mine answers the question best for me, along with some pretty funny comments. What is yours? Before I go, I would like to ask that you join m...

Whose Answer is this?
2007-10-22 17:02:00
I'm enabling my comments because I have to go out of town, and I want you to see each others comments to a question. This video contains a line of dialogue that was a bloggers response to a Tuesday's Question I asked awhile back entitled, What's Your Favorite Dialogue From A Book Or Movie? This link contains the answer, so if you're going to play don't read it until after leaving a comment. The first blogger to answer correctly gets a free blogging favor on me. That's right, I'll will be your blogging helper on the errand of your choice. It can be something all of us bloggers must do, but have trouble finding the time. I'm sure you will think of something you've needed to take care of for some time, that you can give little ole me to do. That is the prize, one blogger errand, along with a link and short blog review. That's a pretty good prize isn't it? I will announce the winner and post the comments along with Tuesday's Question tomorrow. Enjoy this famous scene an...

What Famous Leader Are You?personality tests by similarminds.com What Classic Movie Are You?personality tests by similarminds.com The top images are my test results for the following questions What famous leader are you? and What Classic Movie Are You?Because inquiring minds want to know ... I just finished reading a meme by Adrian at First Time Dad that included a question from a personality test site. The question reminded me of the kind of questions I ask on my weekly post Tuesday's Question. Except, these test questions tell you how your personality best matches your answers, as opposed to an answer you think best describes you. Can a personality test answer questions about our personality better than we can answer them ourselves? Maybe so, and maybe not, but some of the results are pretty accurate and most the sites pretty popular. I posted a brain function test yesterday, entitled Are you right or left brained? That one, was right on the money for me and most of you t...

Blogging Buddies You Blew Me Away With Your Comments
2007-10-17 16:18:00
I was blown away yesterday by the comments to Tuesday's Question. My friends, you displayed such creative ingenuity and hilarity. I had to pinch myself between laughs to make sure I wasn't dreaming. What really got to me was how honest and down to earth you all were. I really am impressed and grateful that each and every one of you are my friends and fellow bloggers. This weekly post is fun and ninety-nine percent of the reason is because of you, my talented comrades. I'm glad you're my readers and grateful you're my friends. Have a nice week and weekend, and be sure and have lots of great fun! However, judging by these comments, it looks as if great fun shouldn't be such a hard thing for any of you to do! Why Do You Blog? I've Joined The Team !
2007-10-17 12:15:00
I've joined Mel's team of bloggers who are posting his "Why Do you Blog ?", meme based on his recent post by the same name. Mel created the meme to help bloggers creatively showcase each blogs individual differences, and favorite posts. All you have to do is...well, he will tell you in the following meme. However, I would like to say that his meme shines the light on every blogger who participates, and I'm thrilled he asked me to be one of those bloggers. Except, I have one question I forgot to ask when he was going over the rules with the team, "Can I be the quarterback? Because the quarterback isn't tackled right?"Thanks again Mel for including me in such a positive experience. Here are the blogs I would like to tag to participate, but remember this is an open meme. Happy blogging everyone! What is Your Favorite Age And Guiltiest Pleasure At That Age And Now?
2007-10-16 16:15:00
What is your favorite age and guiltiest pleasure at that age and now? Welcome to Tuesday's Question and thanks to all of you for your continued support! This weeks question deals with cheap thrills and guilty pleasures, the likes of which we share among friends who will not judge us and love us anyway... we hope. You can answer a piece, part, or all of the question, just be sure and have fun while you're answering it. Here's my answer: My guiltiest pleasure now is ice cream, wine, and more ice cream. I have been known to sneak a cigarette from time to time. I know, I know, cigarettes are terrible and I stopped smoking years ago, but I enjoy one occasionally especially with an old friend mulling over old times... or a new friend, beginning new times, or with a class of wine ... My favorite age or ages are 22, 27, and now. When I was in my twenties I loved to dance in water fountains, make believe I was other people in public, and ring doorbells then run when someon...

The Community Blogger Award
2007-10-16 01:00:00
I've been awarded the Community Blogger Award by my good friend Dawn at Twisted Sister, in addition to my other good friend Sandee at Comedy Plus who included me in her community award list in her acceptance post. Thanks to you both! I love the ideology behind this award and I'm thrilled that these two ladies would think of me when passing it along. The community award originated with Cellobella at the Sultana blog, who said, "I wanted the award to say - this is a person who reaches out and makes my blogger community a better one." I think that is so kind and I'm thrilled to be in the position to pass it along as well as be included in the blogroll. Cellobella asks that nominees of this award e-mail her at (cellobella at gmail dot com) so that she can add your nominees to her blogroll. I will add the following bloggers. Momma said There'd Be Days Like This
2007-10-15 20:40:00
Sometimes, I’m baffled by the way people act. I’m not sure what’s wrong with everyone lately. After what happened to me this weekend, I thought a lot about that scene in the movie "As Good As It Gets" when Jack Nicholson’s character says, “Sell crazy some place else, we’re all stocked up here.” A friend mine told me about a talented student at a cosmetology school who cut her hair recently so I decided to try him and the school out. Although I should have stayed in bed Saturday, because the day started out dreadful. My hair had a Beetle Juice thing going on, and I had a coffee stain on the front of my blouse that I didn't notice most o the day. When I arrived at the school, the line to see my hairstylist went on for miles and miles of endless mirrors and barber chairs. There were a half a million people waiting in line for my hairstylist, so I instantly knew I would be there awhile. However the long line was a good indication that my hairdresser had the abi...

Warming the Globe Through Friendship
2007-10-13 09:10:00
I love this link list I read awhile back on Vic Grace's blog Cariboo Ponderer entitled Warming the globe through Friendship . When I first read it, I liked it so much, I planned on returning to join and write a post, however, this and that got in the way, and well, I simply got sidetracked. However, what impressed me about the list, was Vic Grace's simple desire to spread friendship throughout the blogosphere. She didn't add any specific rules or requests, except for the little badge that went along with it's intention.Anyway, I went about my business until my good friends Sandee from Comedy Plus, and Christy from Christy's Coffee Break passed it to me in a post on their blogs. Now Vic Grace is the author of another link list of friendship in which she added A Nice Place In The Sun. Therefore, I'm going to tag Christy and Sandee and some more great blogging buddies to help continue my new friend Viv Graces viral linking lists. Isn't it something that Viv Grace's dream of s...

Readers Response To Tuesday's Question: What's Your Craziest Teenage Experi
2007-10-10 16:51:00
Anyone who has parented a teen-ager can relate to the mother in this picture. This Mom clearly hasn’t the foggiest idea what these kids are talking about, or she's wondering whether to believe them or not. In turn, teenagers haven’t a clue what their parents are saying either, that is if they’re listening at all. The cartoonist Charles Schultz had the right idea about how children hear grown-up voices, when he had them say, Bloc, Bloc, bloc, bloc … Now that I'm a grown-up and parent myself it sends chills down my spine when I think of the stuff I put my parents through. They m...

Tuesdays Question? : What's Your Craziest Teenage Experience Or Memory?

Hello and welcome to another Tuesday’s Question ! If this is the first time you’ve read Tuesday’s Question you don’t know what I’m talking about, and if you’re returning to Tuesday’s Question, thank you for coming back! Tuesday’s Question is my way of connecting with my readers and sharing a little link love every week. I want to make a connection and express my appreciation for your friendship by passing some link love every week. Plus, I think it's solid that I learn something knew about you with each question, and hopefully you learn something new too, about me and each other. I’m sorry I’m running behind again today and posting mid-morning instead of 6; 00 AM. I will do better, I’ve just been a little rubber fingered lately, and I don’t really know why. I'm Under The Weather
2007-10-08 15:32:00
I ‘m sorry I don't have a new post today. I’m under the weather at the moment and the post I was working on isn’t quite ready for prime time. Don't you hate it when you're under the weather and unable to move? I wonder who created the expression, “under the weather” which suggests it’s bad to be under the weather. What if you like to dance in the rain? What if you love stormy weather, and do not wish the rain to go away and come back another day? O.K. now, I’m getting delirious and need to put myself to bed, and pray for your forgiveness. I will finish my post on my calendar for today and of course post Tuesday’s Question tomorrow at 6 AM... In addition, I read somewhere that if you are sick or on vacation, you can remind your readers of popular posts in your archives. Therefore, here are the links to some of my most popular posts that many of you might have missed. You know reruns? Don't laugh, A Nice Place In the Sun, might really be ...

Digital Framez Portable DVD Player
2007-10-08 09:54:00
Digital framez, spelled with a hanging z, is an online electronic store that sells portable DIVX compatible DVD players and digital photo frames. Their categories include all the different sized photo frames available in addition to the "portable 10 inch DVD player." The information rich site also has section on how the site works. Digital Framez specializes in my favorite product on the site, which is the 10-inch high quality portable DVD playerThe portable 10-inch DVD player is an attractive mini-entertainment system that provides a way for users to listen to CD’s, watch movies, and view pictures from wherever they happen to be! For example, owners of the 10 inch portable DVD players are provided a means of instant entertainment for many occasions, such as picnics, long family trips, and boring meetings at the office.Well, obviously the end of that sentence is a joke, the point of which was to show that the ways in which the portable 10-inch DVD player can be used, is l...

"Be the living Expression of God's kindness, in your face, your eyes, your smile, your greeting. Give not only your care but your heart." Mother TeresaIn loving memory of Karen ShortOctober is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so I wanted to offer my support to breast cancer survivors and those battling this disease every year. According to " breastcancer.org, "Every three minutes a woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer..." In addition, we know the faces of those coping with this disease, they are our sisters, friends, aunts, mom's, co-workers, teachers, and grocery store clerks,... I lost a dear friend one year, only to watch my mother begin her own terrifying battle with the same illness the following year. The fact that I have my mother here today is the result of the time and effort of someone's volunteer work and/or donation.Bloggers have a real opportunity to help shine light on the web sites and campaigns that help raise mo...

A Random Act Of Stupidity
2007-10-05 02:45:00
Random acts of stupidity, cheap thrills, as I like to call them, are cheap entertainment! They don't cost you a penny! That is, of course, if you aren't hurting anyone else's feelings or property.Random acts of stupidity happen a lot around April Fools' Day or Halloween, but of course my random act of Stupidity happened around Christmas! I never have any ideas for pranks at the correct time of the year in fact, I'm usually the one pranked on practical joke holidays. Every year the same people fool me on April Fools' day. I hate it because I know what day it is, and they still get me every year! It's ridiculous. My son threw a fake lizard on me this past year while I was asleep and I screamed so loud you would have thought the ceiling caved in! Well, I may not be ready on April Fools day but I m great with a random act of making a fool of myself any time of the year. I'm a single parent, and when my son was small and I recently divorced , Christmas time was stressf...

I love today for two reason's one of which is this fabulous award! I love blogging awards, because they are so supportive and uplifting. The feeling you get from the needed validation and encouragement is like no other, and I will not forget the significance of this one. Leave it to Mel, from Monday Morning Power to give it to me on my luckiest day of the year! Twenty two years ago on this day my only child was born, and October the 1st became my favorite day of the year! I was walking out the door to go to lunch with my favorite kid when I got Mel's comment. Thank you Mel! Mel was granted this award from Walks Far Woman at Kissing The Dogwood who is herself a fabulous blogger. I love the title of this award, Blogging That Hit's the Mark and it sure turned out to be true in my case! I've been tagged by Diamondssaphire No Nonsense, Fun, Tears, Happiness, and Anger and Dawn with Twisted Sister Totally Pissed Off, with the Desk Top meme! When you're tagged with the Desk Top meme you're supposed to show your Desk Top immediately. That is why mine is full of icons! It is also why you missed Forest Gump! Because only moments before this photo, Forest jumped the fence in flight from those bullies at school! Of course, if you were here you probably would have missed him anyway, my goodness those southern boys can run! Anyway it's unfortunate that my digital camera is broken; because I also would have included my desk in the image. I have a fun crazy desk with "Thing One"/span> and "Thing Two"/span>span> from Dr.Seuss proudly displayed on the top shelf. I also have a stain glass Irish prayer my great-great grandfather brought over on a boat from Ireland. I've always wondered what the boat he sailed on looked like, and if he had a comfortable trip. A Picture Paints a Memory
2007-09-28 10:24:00
Friday before last, I started a new weekly post entitled What's Happening In The Picture , that I'm changing to A Picture Paints A Memory . Well that's what you get for reading a empty nester's blog, who you can expect to be a bit unpredictable ... In addition, to complicated, inquisitive, dingy, overly kind- hearted and this is getting boring, ... enough about me! I want to know about you, and the one way to do it is through asking you questions, and jarring your memories. It's a sure way to get to know someone since our brains record everything we see, hear and do in a lifetime! To help me jar your memory I posted pictures of two different landscapes. I wanted to post two general frames of reference. If neither picture reminds you of an event in your life, then write the first thing that comes to mind when you see it. You know, like in movies? Actually, I took one of those personality tests one time, or at least that's what I thought. I worked as a police...
