HIGHMATH AT POOL GALLERY BERLIN
2008-02-15 00:45:00 Dass Mode und Kunst ständig miteinander liebäugeln ist nichts Neues. Daher ist es auch nicht erstaunlich, dass es im Rahmen der Berlin Fashion Week auch Kunst zu sehen gab. Neben den Project Gallery Showrooms und einer „fashionrelated exhibition“ auf dem Ideal Forum veranstaltete die Agentur V in Kooperation mit Wood Wood in der Pool Gallery – Tucholskystraße 38 - „Highmath“. Dort gibt es Arbeiten aus dem Projekt „Arkitip“ zu sehen. Dabei handelt es sich um ein limitiertes Kunstbuch, welches so genannte „ortsspezifische“ Arbeiten vereint. Initiator Scott Andrew Snyder bittet für jede Ausgabe, die jeweils ein anderes Format aufweist, Künstler, Arbeiten speziell für das Magazin zu erstellen. Jede Ausgabe wird dadurch zu einer Art „group gallery show“ in Buchform.Mit der Ausgabe „Highmath“ kooperiert Snyder erstmals mit Außenstehenden. Womit das zusammenhängen mag sei spekuliert, schließlich ist er nicht der einzige, dem es so geht. Sein Hauptabsatzmarkt ist Japan und so scheinen sich die Japaner mehr für eine Auseinandersetzung mit urdeutschen Themen zu interessieren, als die Deutschen selbst.Die Aufmachung seiner Website (äh, bin ich hier richtig?) und seiner Lookbooks mag, angesichts der doch sehr aufgeladenen Symbolik, erste Abwehrreaktion seitens deutscher Besucher verzeihen lassen. Aber, worum geht es hier eigentlich? Die Themen generiert der gebürtige Franke, der heute in Berlin lebt, immer wieder aus deutschen Kontexten. 2008-02-10 19:48:00 Ich bin und war nie ein Freund der New York er Fashion Week gewesen. Zu kommerziell, zu wenig avantgardistisch. Mode für die gemäßigte Amerikanerin, käuferfreundlich und kaum aufregend. Einige wenige Label haben es aber immer wieder geschafft meine Aufmerksamkeit zu erregen. Leider gab es selbst bei diesen jetzt kaum Spannendes zu sehen. Mein Freund Yigal Azrouel z.B. der mich in den letzten beiden Saisons durchaus begeistern konnte, riss mich so gar nicht vom Stuhl. Schlecht ist es ja nicht, aber... Marc Jacobs war zum Gähnen und das in beiden Linien und das sehe nicht nur ich so. Adrian bringt es bildlich auf den Punkt und gräbt dazu noch ein vielsagendes Zitat Herrn Jacob's aus: I really wasn't very inspired this season. Wie jetzt? Inspiration oder nicht? Vielleicht Kopie? 2008-02-09 13:42:00 ...ist eine Zeitschrift für Mode, die Deutschland dringend nötig hat. Sofort positiv fällt das Papier auf. Gedruckt auf TAURO 120 g/m² von Antalis, wie im Impressum zu finden ist. Hier scheint ein Bibliophiler am Werk gewesen zu sein. Matt, körnig und sehr schön anzufassen (das das gesamte Heft auch schön nach Papier riecht, sei hier nur am Rande erwähnt). Sofort bekommt der Leser suggeriert, dass er es hier mit einem seriösen Heft zu tun hat.Es geht um Tiefgründiges, fern ab von Oberflächlichkeiten der Hochglanzindustrie. Das vermitteln neben der geschickten Papier- und Layoutwahl (VIEL Platz, z.T. weiße Seiten und wenig gute und dezent platzierte Werbung) auch die Themen. Jede der zweimal pro Jahr erscheinenden Ausgaben widmet sich einem Themenspektrum. 2008-02-03 00:51:00 When the doors at the Ideal Fashion Show were opened darkness came over us ;-) I was lucky to find a seat in the first row. There was a strange construction with a podest and some machines looking like scanners. Definitely no ordinary fashion show to be expected. Romanian designer Olay Gyarfas (Rozalb de Mura is the brand's name) presented his autumn/winter 2008 collection as some kind of performance. I had the chance to see his designs the day before at the Ideal Showroom and was impressed. Mostly black, and clothes that can be worn in many different ways - you know I love that. Collars that can be added up via press buttons, fluffy down jackets, huge pants that can be made even huger by adding some more fabric with more press buttons. Sophisticated coolness apparently taken out of some stylish science fiction movie. Although the show as a show was very exceptional und pretty interessting it wasn't that good, because the clothes could hardly be seen. Too dark, too many flashligh... The three ladies of the Berlin based label q.e.d. presented a black/white only collection. Minimalistic with fantastic details. Unfortunately only press photos. For me it was something in between "nice", "hm" and "not bad at all" - I simply wasn't that excited... Well the setting was quite nice and it of course was a great possibility for the seven young designers to show their work in a professional surrounding. His Summer 2008 designs still have some bits of the current fetisch trend including latex-like pants combined with stripper heels. It will be online in a couple of days. Jackie Danicke explains all about it here. I was invited by Lancôme to "une rencontre à Paris ", which means two days of pure luxury in the most wonderful city. Moi et a bunch of other bloggers from different countries were invited to discover the french cosmetic brand in a most wonderful way. I have to admit thought that in the beginning I was quite surprised to be invited and that I had some issues to include a post about that trip into f&art's topics. On the other hand I'm quite sure that it wasn't Lancôme's intention to get ad-like feedback on their products directly - a never do such a thing anyway - and that this trip should simply introduce us to the world of Lancôme - which it most perfectly did. This blogging thing is really getting huge (let's hope it will stay like that!) and I guess I still have to get used to so many things. I was VERY happy to meet all the other bloggers and hear about their experiences I will definitely stay ... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 |
