I never had a professional brush set and never felt the urge to own one. But it proved to be VERY handy although I will never reach ZING's standards. Practice, practice, practice...///Vor einigen Wochen habe ich ein sehr nettes so genanntes Smokey Eye Kit erhalten (Leider gibt es in Deutschland, wenn ich recht informiert bin leider kein Sephora!?). Dank an Coutorture. Wie ich bereits geschrieben hatte, bin ich nicht wirklich eine große Makeup Nutzerin. Ich hatte niemals ein professionelles Pinselset und hatte auch nie das Bedürfnis danach eines zu besitzen. Allerdings hat sich das besagte mittlerweile als SEHR nutzlich erwiesen, auch wenn ich niemals an die Standards eines ZING herankommen werde. The Turkey born (1972) designer moved to Germany in 1992 and studied fashion and technology at Munich Fashion School, having already completed an apprenticeship as a dressmaker. As a frelance dressmaker and fashion stylist she has undertaken costume design for a succession of commercials and feature films and in 1997 won the Munich City Award for Applied Arts. The German art magazine monopol recently did a feature on Munich as Germany's old/new design capital (besides Berlin). An Ayzit Bostan portrait was part of it. I've scanned it for you here. On two floors, 43 halls, and two "open spaces" 200 artworks are shown: Arte Povera, large canvases showing Italian Transavanguardia, German and American Neoexpressionism - Baselitz and Kiefer, Schnabel and Basquiat; Early works of Cy Twombly, Richter, Polke, Trockel, Bacon; Peter Halley's neon coloured wallpapers, Alex Katz, current British and American art - Barry X Ball or Tom Sachs. And that's only the beginning... The collection is a "work in progress". The Maramotti family keeps on collecting on and on...The best thing about this new exhibition space is the silence and the emptyness. FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY IN MIAMI '07+ TUNG WALSH

But there are many people who believe so and that's why fashion photography is rarely seen in major photo art collections. This is to change (it also did take some time to accept photography as a form of art...). And this year's Miami Beach Art Photo Expo is clearly pointing in a more serious to be taken direction. Curated by Marion de Beaupré the exhibition shows 20 fashion photographers "carefully selected" out of the most famous ones. The whole exhibition design is in the eye of the beholder, but nevertheless the selected photos are totally worth seeing (but as real fashion lovers we already know most of them anyway...) or at least worth a click. I was surprised to find an interview of Marios Schwab in the current issue of the Spiegel's (major German news magazine) supplement Kulturspiegel. Unfortunately it's - surprise - in German, but I simply had to post it, because I still am happy to have found something fashion related in a serious magazine (well we don't have a new york times style section, or international herald tribune or whatever - serious German newspapers don't deal with "superficial fashions"...).
