Topshop Caters To My Intense Lust
2006-12-04 08:54:00
I have a love/hate relationship with shopping. I love clothing, accessories and all things unashamedly material (especially the superfluous, expensive kind), however tend to be a miserly tightwad, who only "invests" on "quality" and "timeless" things. I rarely splash out ridiculously or fall inlove with Things. I'm really very sensible, you know, my parents are very proud of me (little do they do about the hundreds I spend on drugs). The advent of internet shopping and e(vil)Bay have changed all this. I am now in possession of (to name just a few) $200 Seduce pants, a $300 Burberry trenchcoat and $100 Ferragamo flats, alongside a teetering stack of books I have yet to read. I also regularly stop by Net-a-fucking-addictive-Porter and Topshop , and monitor-shop (as opposed to window-shop). At these particular sites I have always been relatively safe, being on a pitiful student budget which protests against Derek Lam capelets and Chloe shifts, while Topshop refused to post their delici...

Stylish Sydney Scum

FINAL-fucking-LY! Being a pretentious imitator of creative people, I frequent the usual millieu of street style blogs, namely The Sartorialist, Face Hunter, Hel Looks and Style Scout. I also recieve in my inbox a weekly batch of photographs taken at trendy Sydney parties from 2Threads. God knows why I haven't unsubscribed after 5 months of bleached smiles, foiled hair and candy-coloured short-shorts, but fortunately my prayers have been answered and the photographers have suddenly decided to ease some of the embarrassment for Australia felt on my part, to deliver some rather trendy and exciting street fashions. I certainly don't mean to sound negative and critical, but how often can one see groups of people wearing variations of the exact same thing before kneeling on the pavement and screaming to the gods "I'm so fucking bored I could vomit!"?The Usual Shit (yawn) Glebe Markets Harbour Life Festival

One of my pet hates is when people make assumptions regarding your personal life. They base their opinions on age, appearance, occupation, material possessions and how you act in public while you're in a relationship. The fact is, nobody knows what exactly occurs after you've discreetly closed your bedroom door, stripped naked and watch late night SBS films with your loved one. Ofcourse I'm guilty of this contemptuous sin myself, but if you think of your own relationships with your parents, siblings, friends and partners, then I'm sure the reality is entirely at odds to what you imagine other people see when they attempt to meddle. It must be difficult to live your life in the public eye, so to speak, as many "celebrities" do. Even despite this, there are still some people that manage to retain a sense of mystery, and consequently intrigue us all to no end.Exhibit ABriefly married couple, Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller.
