All Aboard the Dishcloth Bandwagon!!
2007-08-14 01:28:00 So here I go jumping onto the bandwagon and I must say it's nice up here. All comfy with cotton yarn and the click click of knitting needles. Yes of all the bandwagons I've been on this is surely my favorite! Here are my dishcloths. I got a hold of the Mason Dixon book at the library and knitted the 2 dishcloth patterns in there and let me say is it sure is fun to knit something up that you can use every day and only took you a couple hours from start to last weaved in end. And that is with frequent breaks of getting the big monster juice and the little monster's diaper changes and breast feedings. The other cloths are just swatches of stitch patterns from the Vogue Knitting Stitchionary I got for my birthday. I love looking through that book it's so inspiring. On another note I've got a proposition for anyone who is reading. Post a comment about your favorite item to knit or your favorite item you want to knit as a summer project as well as your favorite yarn to knit with in th... More About: Wagon , The D , Cloth
Welcome to Wormington!
2007-07-29 17:34:00 So I made the plunge and created my first toy ever. It's been a while since I've posted but I assure you it's been well worth the wait. Not that anyone reads this anyway. I used Kimberly Chapman's caterpillar pattern. She is another fellow Las Vegan and though she is in my Las Vegas SNB she goes to the meetings on the other side of town. Oh well. Perhaps one day I'll make it out there.I was so hesitant to do this project because of the dpn's but since my leap with the socks and the size 7 needles wasn't too bad I figured how bad could the size 3 needles be? Well the only 3s I could find were metal and personally I hate metal and I tell you my fingertips and are pretty callused but this project kicked those calluses into high gear!I used red heart super saver yarn in colors that matched the Baby Einstein caterpillar. This one is for my DH's cousin's new baby. I had so much fun making this one I have knit one about 4 times it size for the my big 3 year old monster and he stol... More About: Ming
Busy Busy Busy
2007-05-15 18:55:00 It's that time of year again where the weather is so nice I am out and about all the time trying to get outdoors and hiking before it's so hot you would think lucifer had set up shop in the backyard. Las Vegas weather is about as unpredictable as it comes. We've had weeks of blazing hot swelter sun followed by weeks of fridged winds. Rain out of nowhere and I kid you not I believe there was some snow only a month ago. The last week was so beautifull and the boys and I went hiking several times, but alas I belive summer has hit and it's not going to go away! Waaa!!! :( So stock up on sun screen grab your hats and upf raited clothing. Bring your sunglasses and personal missters it's summer in the desert! Fill up your camel backs for the trip to the mailbox you don't want to get heatstroke! As for knitting I will be posting a few things soon. :)What's knitted in Vegas stays in Vegas. ~SinKnitty More About: Busy
Sock it to Me
2007-04-26 18:12:00 My first sock ever! Yay! I used Lucia's Sockulator, and it turned out perfect. Fits like a glove and the instructions were very easy to follow.I used Cascade quatro and size 7 bamboo dpn's. This sock will never see the inside of a shoe but it will be very warm around the house this winter.I had a very clever and witty post all typed up and ready to go for this entry but my web browser took a crap and closed on me and so I started over and had an even funnier and poinent post all ready and it happened again. So this is short and sweet and not a great post because I have lost all patience for my pc and I'm starting to get pissed that my husband made us get another pc instead of a mac like I wanted because he wanted to play his stupid video game. That he hardly even plays anymore! I can play Sims on a mac what do I need a pc for? I miss Mac!Anyway back to the knitting here it is the infamous sock!and here it is inuteroWhat's knitted in Vegas stays in Vegas. ~SinKnitty
Cheerio Old Chap!
2007-03-31 20:51:00 The London Beanie. A very nice knit in the round skull cap style beanie great for guys. Designed by a very nice man named Mark who enjoys getting pictures and was very helpful when I wrote to ask him about making the hat in a toddler size. I didn't end up taking his advice and instead did the hat to pattern exactly but I used a lighter weight yarn and smaller needles and ended up with a smaller hat. :) I think I used Caron Simply Soft. The pattern knits up very quickly and makes a very nice last minute gift. I've made one in green, black, and tan for ds, and I've already posted pics of my infant version minus the stripes. The Caron yarn is soft enough that when I made a couple for a friend of mine who had just had chemo it did not itch his head at all and he was constantly being asked where he got the hat. ;)I made this hat almost 2 years ago, and it was the first thing I ever knit in the round. It still fits ds and has had many abusive meetings with playgrounds and sidewalks. My...
Dazed and Confused
2007-03-27 19:52:00 OK I just don't get it. In my leisurely blog surfing this morning during the mini monsters nap I keep seeing all this knitted food! What do people do with these. One lady had like 15 of these finished knitted cupcakes! Please explain this to me! You can't eat it, do you give it to kids to play with? Do kids enjoy these things? And another lady with a bunch of different knitted pieces of pie! I'm at a loss, baffled, perplexed, befuddled, dumbfounded, dazed, confused, puzzled, bewildered, and stumped. In case you have no idea what I am talking about visit these blogsPie Knits while I find her blog entertaining and her other patterns quite nice, it's the pie I don't get.And this is the Cupcake lady. Her knitted toy bunnies are very cute, but again cupcakes I don't get the fad.Oh well...What's knitted in Vegas stays in Vegas. ~SinKnitty More About: D and C

2007-03-25 18:17:00 So what do you think? I changed things around a little. The smaller column widths were cutting off part of my text, but do you think that the width is too wide now? I just don't know. Give me your opinions! I want to hear from you! What's knitted in Vegas stays in Vegas. ~SinKnitty More About: Things , Chang , Chan
The Yellow Wallpaper
2007-03-21 17:18:00 While I do not actually think that the lovely character of The Yell ow Wallpaper was crazy at the beginning of her story I do think that she was crazy by the end of the story. And if she had been given some yarn and needles while locked away she would have been just fine. I am just kidding of course, that is one of my favorite short stories. However I am fighting to keep from losing my mind. I have not picked up a pair of needles in over 4 days and my hands are itching for the comfort of needles. The sweet caress of yarn wrapped around my fingers, the smooth feel of the needles as they slide between my fingers and the gentle tug and flow as the needles take the yarn and turn it into something amazing! Oh I long for a project that will grab my attention. I have a few things on the needles but I care nothing for them, the UFOs have not entered my dreams as of yet. I am having a problem maybe some of you can help me. I am wrestling with purchasing yarn online. There are some very good p... More About: Yello
Beanie Baby
2007-03-17 23:02:00 What a darling! I finished this little hat from the Simple knits for Cherished Babies book. I gave it a 1x1 ribbing edge instead of the rolled edge so it resembles my 3 yo DS's London Beanie but without the stripe. What's knitted in Vegas stays in Vegas. ~SinKnitty More About: Baby
The Cable Guy
2007-03-15 19:07:00 It's almost finished, just have to sew on the leather sole. My son's little cabled shoes! They fit really well and stay on while he crawls. I made them a little long in the toes so he can grow into them a little. I'll post a pattern soonish. ;) You know how I am about that. Let me know what you think. I'm sure I will knit up his other one soon so his other foot can be just as stylin'! Check out my flickr account on the right of the page for other pics of this lovely little shoe. If I do say so myself I believe it is the loveliest little shoe I ever did see! What's knitted in Vegas stays in Vegas. ~SinKnitty More About: Cable
Pride and Prejudice
2007-03-01 22:38:00 Ah finally it has been finished. The Ryan Blanket has arrived! While I am proud of my original design, there are of course things I hate about it. The top and bottom borders are too narrow. I of course was not going to rip out my work to extend the bottom border and I just can't have the top one mismatched. I am just beaming over the beauty of the blanket. I knit the whole thing with Lion Brand Baby Softee. And after washing and drying it has gotten pretty soft. I've been showing it off everywhere. Many people have commented that they thought it was store bought. Ha! They must not of looked too close! :) Here is a closer look at The Ryan. Modeled by it's name sake. The pattern will be posted soon! What's knitted in Vegas stays in Vegas. ~SinKnitty More About: Pride , Pride and Prejudice , Dice , Prejudice
Success!!!
2007-01-26 01:54:00 After almost 8 hours of nonstop untangling I have sucessfully liberated my knitting from the trainwreck my son turned it into. Ok maybe nonstop is a little dramatic. More like 8 hours inbetween endless cups of juice, breastfeedings and of course feeding. clothing, and cleaning. I see other women with blogs who have kids and they somehow find time to design knitted objects, track down and efeat their UFOs and have the chance to even consider stash busting! I've got tons of ideas and I can't ever seam to pull it together enough around here to even get to my LYS and just look at yarn!My dh offered to watch the eldest my my ds's today while me and the baby took a trip to the book store but I turned down his offer inorder to untangle!!! OMG the obsession! Perhaps it is time to put down the blanket and move on to a few cozies or those little devil pants from SNBN that I want to make. But alas I have become obsessed. I can't stand UFOs. I'm afraid of UFOs. They pleauge my dreams. I wa... More About: Success
Karma...
2007-01-25 09:01:00 Just as I finished up my last post I hear the sound of the doggy door. I look over and my son has this mass of blue yarn in his hand and he is trying to toss it into the back yard through the dog's personal doorway. Just as I finished telling cybercspace about how I was hating the damn blanket my son was trying to destroy it! Good news is that no stitches were dropped thanks to my denise needles. Oh so handy with little ones around. :) BUT both balls of yarn I was knitting from are totaly intangled. I have been working on it for a while but.... Well as you can see it's going to be alot more work to fix this one. He said to me "I made it silly mom." Bland Bland Bland
2007-01-24 20:26:00 As I was shopping for my son before he was born I kept seeing these adorable cabled baby blankets. I kept thinking to myself no don't buy one you can make one. Well me being me I could never find the right color, the right fiber, the right guage. So he is 7 months old now and I grabed some ugly light blue acrylic crap out of my stash that I bought before I became a yarn snob and began the journey of knitting this cabled crib blanket. First of all this is my very first cabled project and I thought it would be stimulating. It's not. I am sooooo bored with it! I'm only half way through and I can hardly stand to keep knitting. If I don't finish it now he will be moving out by the time I pick it up again though, so I trudge my through. Soon I will begin knitting some more interesting graffiti. Watch for it! I have plans for this town! Knitted art on every light post and sign in town. No hand rail is safe! Perhaps that turtle in the spagetti bowl will get a dose of knitted graffiti in...
