TYPE WORKSHOP
2007-09-21 04:04:00
Typeworkshop origins from workshops organized by Underware in various locations in and around Switzerland. The goal is for participants to search for interesting shapes that work well as a repeated module for a 'pixel font'. This one module/shape can be anything, 2 or 3 dimensional, geometric or non-geometric. The participants then collect lots of these modules and start sketching the alphabet, encouraged not stick to a grid and apply it manually into a physical environment both big and small. Loads of projects in their archive worth checking out.

A 40 YEAR RETROSPECTIVE
2007-09-04 19:03:00
I made my way to New York this weekend to experienced the '40 Year Retrospective ' of Richard Serra at the MoMa. One of the sculptures shown in an exhibition for the first time is 'Sequence'. Sequence is a sculpture constructed of 12 ribbon-like plates that weighs a total of 243 tons. The interaction between sculpture and spectator is unbelievable. When you walk though the eighteen feet high steel walls you can see them consistently shifting angles and bending your perception, you feel your equilibrium faltering, but pleasantly so.The 40 year retrospective ends September 10th.
