Klein Bottle House
2008-05-07 22:25:00
The Klein Bottle House was designed by McBride Charles Ryan and is located in the town of Rye, just outside Melbourne, Australia. The house is described by complex shapes and spaces that revolve around a central courtyard with a grand regal staircase that connects all the levels. Dunno if I could actually live in this house but thought it was very progressive in terms of its design. [VIA]

Fullmetal Alchemist the movie
2008-05-05 20:14:00
Fullmetal Alchemist the movie: Conqueror of Shamballa premiered in Japan on July 23 2005 and is a continuation of the TV series. The story is set two years after the series, and fallows Edward Elric after he is dragged into a different world through the gate, and ends up in Munich Germany in 1923. In this reality (Earth) he can no longer use his alchemical powers. He has spent the past two years researching rocketry with a young man named Alphons Heiderich (who looks like his own brother). Earth is a parallel world to Amestris (Ed?s home world) and because of this ED encounters may familiar faces. After rescusing a gypsy woman named Noa who looks like Rose Ed is thrown back on the path to get him back home.Back in Amestris Alphonse Elric continues looking for a way to get him his brother back when Wrath takes him back into the underground city. Ed and Al are able to open the gate from both sides and Ed is able to get back to Amestris. He is fallowed by Dietlinde Eckhart who h...

The Cans Festival UK
2008-05-04 12:44:00
I headed down to the Cans Festival yesterday which was located in a disused ex-Eurostar train terminal in Waterloo. The queue to get in was enormous and I could see why. Around 40 stencil artists from around the world had been invited to paint their stuff in a 600 meter tunnel. The show is officially on until Monday 5th May but the tunnel will become pedestrianised straight after. To be honest, I don't know how long the pieces will last with all those street-art haters out there. There will be probably be some vain attempts at stealing some of the owrk straight off the walls too. I'd also like to thank Fark FK for managing to let us in the back way and making sure we didn't have to queue for the hour and a half like everyone else! Thanks a bunch mate!

Master Street Painter Kurt Wenner
2008-05-01 11:34:00
Kurt Wenner has been around longer than Julian Beevers, but wasn't lucky enough to have the viral email element that Beevers had. Some say Wenner was the creator/pioneer of Anamorphic Street Art (using geometry to create an illusion of depth). His work may seem same-same but he was the first. And there's no denying that he knows how to paint that Italian Master s style![VIA]

1st Person Football View
2008-05-01 11:27:00
I never thought I'd be posting about football, especially not after my team was just knocked out of the Semi-Finals of the UEFA Champions League last night by Chelsea (wankers!). But this video by NikeFootball is a pretty darn good rendition of what it must be like to play on the field with a bunch of superstars. Only 2 minutes long and well worth a watch!

McBess 3D and 2D Talent
2008-04-30 11:20:00
His illustrative work may seem to give off a slightly vintage whiff, but I think he puts just enough contemporary elements to make you feel like it's a completely new style. His 3D animation is damn fine and looks 100% professional too making this one of my new fave all-rounded artists from the last couple years. Apparently, he also has some music which will be released in a couple months and I'm really looking forward to that. Visit his entertaining website HERE.The video is definitely worth a watch. A 2 minute visual portfolio of his 3D work...stunning!You can read an interview with him HERE.

Mike Rea Wooden Constructions
2008-04-30 11:11:00
Mike Rea makes things out of wood. Pretty frikkin awesome things actually. From fish tanks, to space-age war tanks, to Mecha-suits for Stephen Hawking. This guy has a wild imagination and his design realisation skills are second to none. The artist's statement:"The intent of my work is to create something short of its outcome. My goal is to create the idea of an object that remains a dream. The objects I create are based on fictions, rather than realities. I have always been interested in the ephemeral worlds established in film, or even in popular culture. Fictions or established hearsay allow for a flawed interpretation, which leads to a flawed result. The sublime is unattainable, and not an option."[VIA]

Banksy Art Show At Schoeni Gallery
2008-04-29 11:57:00
ESPV's and UKAdapta's super good friend Nicole Schoeni of the famous Schoeni Gallery is helping to host the Banksy show in HKG with a few extra days to view the art at her gallery. Fake Street Signs For Sale
2008-04-25 16:12:00
Found this interesting post on Grafik Warfare regarding a certain person who is selling genuine "street-signs" and doctoring them to make them look like they are priceless works of art. According to Grafik Warfare;""This sign for instance I know from the bottom of my road in Brighton, so it?s not from London. also that D*Face stencil was never on there. The whole thing is bullshit."If this is true, then the person who just bought this for 4,000 GBP has been seriously duped and I feel sorry for them. It's unbelievable how far people will go to make a quick buck in this age of streetart/graffiti mania. To make fake stencils of others work is appalling.See more of the fake signage HERE.

Pixeloo The Art of Untoon
2008-04-20 17:05:00
"Untoon". A new word I learnt this Sunday afternoon. To make a cartoon more realistic and to take the toon out out of it. Pixeloo is a relatively new artist on the blogging scene but has been secretly developing his skills for many years. His Photoshop skills are excellent and his choice of skin textures, hair etc is great. There must be a million different untoon requests you could come up with. I mean, who wouldn't want to see an untooned She-Ra! Check out his blog HERE.

Urwerk Turbine Watch
2008-04-20 16:56:00
Haven't been inspired by too many watches since those steampunk ones I posted HERE last year. However, Urwerk UR-202 is a piece of class. It has a self-winding kinetic motor, telescopic minute hands, orbiting and revolving hour satellites, and fancy, mechanical turbines that look great, but fuck knows if they actually have any specific purpose![VIA]

Fullmetal Alchemist: fullmetal fun
2008-04-20 14:56:00
Fullmetal Alchemist started out as a manga series created by Hiromu Arakawa (and is still going). Studio Bones adapted the manga into 51 episodes for the anime; which was directed by Seiji Mizushema. Fullmetal Alchemist first aired on Japanese TV on October 2, 2003 and ended on October 2, 2004. A one-hour OAV Fullmetal Alchemist: Reflections was released in 2005, and in March 2006 a DVD with 3 new OAVs was released in Japan, (so we only have to wait a few more years for those to come over here). This series has been very popular in both Japan and North America, and has also won the Animage Anime Grand Prix prize in 2003. The 2005 TV Asahi web poll saw Fullmetal Alchemist voted the most popular anime prize in 2003. The of all time in Japan. But unfortunately the anime series has finished and there are no more plans to continue it. At the start of the anime we see the main characters Edward (the older brother) and Alphones Elric try to bring their dead mother back to life usin...

2008-04-19 17:18:00
Holy Shit, Ben Heckendorn is truly the master of console modding. He has already made an XBox 360 and Wii laptop which were amazing and revolutionary but his newest PS3 custom laptop just takes the cake! It looks like a factory standard model, not something that was actually made in a geek's garage!!!Original backwards compatible 60GB model 17-inch LCD HDTV screen: 720p HDMI-DVI connection (same as last Xbox 360 laptop) Built-in keyboard, USB ports, stereo speakers, headphone jack Size: 17 x 13.75 x 3-inches Weight: 16 pounds! The machine is being auctioned off for charity on Ebay and last time I checked it was going for $17,100 USD!!!![VIA]

Melbourne Art: Part 3
2008-04-15 01:16:00
PHilfy has been busy doing allot of recon in Melbourne recently and checking out the local streetart and graffiti scene. And there?s plenty of it. There?s art in the shopping malls, art in train stations, art in skate parks, art along the streets, in the CBD and in outer suburb areas ? and all of it is pretty good stuff. (CBD area) (Shopping mall)(Inner suburb train station)(Skate park) One cool area that many of yall would have heard of is Brunswick Street. This funky area in Melbourne is not too different to East London?s Brick Lane and Shoreditch areas. On Brunswick there are allot of cool cafes and shops and places to chill and have a beer outside. Within the side streets there is allot of great art, both graffiti and streetart. Rose Street, off Brunswick, is a cool street to checkout and every Sunday (I think) has a cool market (Rose Street Market) that sells some cool art and other things.. which, is where I met Dirtfish. Dirtfish is a local artist (www.dirtfi...

Barry the Beaver Vibrating Toy
2008-04-14 21:09:00
Looks like ESPV were beaten to it! We were all joking about this two years ago, that someone should make a toy that could be used in a sexual-kind of way and Boom! Jeremyfish goes and produces Barry The Beaver.Barry the Beaver (original colorway), your vibrating vinyl friend, is designed by Jeremy Fish, in conjunction with Upper Playground, SuperFishal, and Ningyoushi. Turn the tree stump to activate the vibration. Features a cool bendy tail. Includes one AA battery.Examples of Jeremyfish illustrations which IMHO, rock hard! His TurtleCamper is still my favourite toy I own![VIA]

Cosmic Motors Automobile Futurism
2008-04-14 20:21:00
A great post from Irieman on the UKAdapta Blog: Cosmic Motors . Role-Playing fantasy at its best! Automotive futurist, Daniel Simon (the real creator) has invented a brilliant galaxy of hyper-realistic racing vehicles that come from the four corners of the Galaxion system. In a style reminiscent of the Steampunk genre, he has fabricated the story of Cosmic Motors brilliantly. According to Simon, the whole thing was setup by the Redooa brothers in the year 8966-B! It's a really great website to check out with fully in-depth and realistic ideas/concepts for any car enthusiasts/futurists. See more from Cosmic Motors HERE.[VIA]

Lucy Mclauchlan Solo Show at Fifty24SF
2008-04-14 19:57:00
UK-based artist Lucy Mclauchlan just opened her first ever solo show entitled "Restricted Freedom" for the US. The show was held at Upper Playground?s FIFTY24SF Gallery. Like the Herakut show I just posted about yesterday, the show was a site specific installation that allowed for the artists to work freely on their art within the confines of the gallery. An excellent concept that we will definitely see more of this year I reckon.Have a look at her website, sometimes the most simple formats of black and white can be the most effective and visually striking.[VIA]
