Since I last wrote I published a new podcast called ?When you Wake Up? with Nicholas Cameron. Nicholas Cameron, Executive Producer of Feature Films and Author of When You Wake Up gives us a peek into the newest coffee table (self help) ebook that makes living a life of dreams practical. This includes his collaboration with several award-winning artists, doctors, and musicians. Hear the podcast at http://belinda_subraman.podomatic.com Check out Nick?s site: http://www.whenyouwakeup.com I haven?t written about a new man in my life. It?s because it?s still in the almost too good to be true stage. So more later.Since I last wrote I received my first Reiki attunement. I have given Reiki to several people. All have felt it pretty strongly. I would love to learn as much as I can about complimentary medicine. I would like to be a holistic practitioner.I will be leaving for Jordan in a few days. It?s bound to be quite an adventure. I?m not taking a lap top but I hope I can leave a few note...

Spiritual sharing and peacemaking

I had a beautiful, warm, loving, sharing afternoon with my dear friend Sylvia and new friend Rueben who is a thanatologist and bereavement counselor for a new hospice in town. A little over a week ago a fellow manager where I work told me about this new hospice when I said I felt drawn to go back to that work. I called them and they said to email my resume and informed me of a community meeting with the thanatoligist the next day. I went thinking I would meet several of the hospice people and we could get acquainted. Rueben was the only one from hospice and one other community person came. We opened up about a lot of spiritual experiences. Rueben is the only very spiritually aware man I have ever met and to honestly share the type of things he did. Rather than explain here and have both family and strangers jumping to conclusions that we?re off our rockers, I?ll just leave it at that. When I got home I thought of Sylvia and felt strongly they needed to meet and would have much ...

Invisible Journey

Invisible Journey (last night?s dream)We were on a bus to the airport, studying our fears.(The world gave us crackersas we sought peas). We worried our plane ticketswere in our suitcaseson their way to somewhere elsethen we were toldwe needed no farefor the plane where we would be.Then something I don?t remember?and we?re on a shipfeeling the liquid motion of the earth. We were calm, expecting to arrive. The moment cameand we were asked to cross a lineand meet our greeters. As we looked up into faceswe saw ourselves with new eyes, same hair, same skin.

Saving Love I dreamed of a kitten I loved dearly.I was hurtingas I cherished and protectedthis innocent creaturethat accepted and returned my lovewithout betrayal. Then I realized I had not fed itor given it water in days.I had been so consumed by griefI had hurt myself and my beloved.I ran and filled a bowl with waterand the kitten lapped it upBut the bowl was tiny and hurriedly I refilled it.I began to look for foodbut I had none.I awoke while searching, hoping to feed my lovebefore it died.

Hands that hold the heart of healing
2007-03-05 16:46:08
Yesterday I was awakened at 0219 by a phone call. My body was in shock and decided not to answer unless it was an emergency. I listened to the message. It was only a friendly update from a friend who assumed the message would take without the phone ringing. I thought I would go back to sleep but didn?t. Since I had to pull four hours of supervisory duty where I work I decided to do it early. I was at work by 0600 and at 0800 helped with serving breakfast and feeding the residents (which I find satisfying anyway). I was back home by 1030 and was ready for a nap. Surprisingly I fell into a deep sleep and then the phone rang. It was the same friend who had called earlier who had not checked her email asking her to email the answer to a question I had because I was going to take a nap before my afternoon appointment. I did chat with her and was amazingly able to fall back asleep?and then the phone rang. As I listened to see if the message was important I noticed it was a hang ...

My Secret, Your Secret, The Secret
2007-02-27 04:43:03
I am thankful for the female friends I have come to know over the past few months. Perhaps this is the law of attraction as in ?The Secret .? Exactly what I need now is the companionship of these wise women who understand the subtle and most powerful dimensions of the universe and they are appreciating me in the same way. We are encouraging each other and we have all been attracting the wrong sort of men. Just because we know better doesn?t mean we always put to practice the powerful knowledge of the laws of attraction. I?m going to start a daily practice. I never want to feel the soul-crashing I felt Friday. I left work early. The wind was 55 plus miles an hour at the time. At home the windows were rattling and sounds like a freight train passing went through the place. At one point an amazingly awful and powerful sound happened. My first thought was NOT that my bedroom window had exploded. But within a few seconds it become clear this is what had happened. Because of my n...

Letter to Jan (slightly altered..not ME, the letter):I'm afraid Paul is back to being a complete ......... He's out of town on one of his mystery trips that ever so carefully included a weekend. He left Thrusday and will be back Wednesday or Thursday. Purpose of the trip and destination seemed to change a little as I kinda fished for info. Of course his phone is off. I only tried once and that was yesterday afternoon because of a computer question. Net Talk radio wanted a Gypsy Art Show banner. I used to have one but Paul has messed with so many things I couldn't find anything. Well, the guy at Net Talk, named Ross, was kind enough to make one for me after I pleaded my ignorance about making one. Check it out at: http://nettalkworld.com/public/modules/ne ws2/ I have to piece shows together for him because he requires an hour. He's all into metaphysical stuff. We could do some exclusives for him on Reikki (sp?), natural healing whatever. Interested? Well, I did a re-int...

I have been beautifying my apartment over the past several months. It has always been full of eye candy?weird sculptures, stained glass, mosaics and paintings, etc. I?ve done over the past several years but I only got a real bed a few months ago. It is regal with luxury bed clothing etc. It?s higher of the floor than most beds and with the tall headboard and footboard of fanciful ironwork I feel like I?m on a throne. What most people wouldn?t want to know and what I find hard to believe is that before this I ?slept on the floor.? Well, actually on a futon with 3 layers of waffle foam which was fairly comfortable. Although I actually enjoyed it, I noticed that anyone who saw it seemed to feel a little sorry for me. I just didn?t see it necessary to change. However, now that I have my throne I am glad and now that I?ve cancelled the idea of a foreign trip this year I have spent about the same amount on more luxury touches for my environment. Keep in mind this is all relative....

Sickness, Wellness and Auditory Delights
2007-01-23 10:17:01
Well, what have I been doing the past month?Sylvia is on my brain. I called her today. Her cancer markers are up to 99. She having heavy bouts of indigestion and heatburn and decided now is the time to go bland. Her energy is zapped and she?s mostly staying in except for her Kabballah group once a week which is nearby. For anyone unfamiliar with Sylvia I urge you to check the website I main for her at http://myspace.com/thompsonpoetry There you can hear her read some of her poetry, hear parts of a radio interview with us both and on one piece with meditative music by CaDra in Amsterdam she reads some of her pieces and I read some of mine.Sylvia had a book signing a Barnes and Nobles on the 13th and sold out. She taught a Tumblewords workshop the week before. Now she?s likely to stay close to home but she invited me to come hang out there sometimes and I plan to call her and take her up on that idea. How much longer will I have the chance?Paul and I continue to be friends and I...

Amazing Peter Buffett, Amman, Jordan and a Christmas lesson
2006-12-30 09:58:01
It was brought to my attention today that Peter Buffett who I interviewed on GAS 53 is the son of Warren Buffett, the second richest man on earth. (First richest man is Bill Gates). This man was not spoiled by his father?s money due to his father?s incredible philosophy and values. He paid for their education and then they were on their own. True, he recently gave his children ONE BILLION DOLLARS each to give to charities but it was to charities and NOT to his children. Warren himself has given countless billions to the less fortunate. Well, I thought this tidbit was worth sharing and believe me I did check it out. The musician/composer I interviewed IS the son of Warren Buffett. He even played some of his musical, Spirit, at his mother?s funeral. We discussed Spirit on our show as well as Dances With Wolves which he composed for. Go to http://belinda_subraman.podomatic.com and scroll down to GAS 53 interview with Peter Buffet and click PLAY (if you have a high speed connect...

I had a beautiful, exhausting weekend. My friend, Sylvia, with stage 4 liver cancer spent Saturday and Sunday with me. I had arranged for her to be recorded professionally by a radio engineer and to be interviewed by a respected author who had prior approval from the El Paso Times. We should be getting proof copies of her tracks soon and the article about herself and poetry is scheduled for next Sunday. I also recorded her and put another audio slot on her My Space site( http://www.myspace.com/thompsonpoetry ) which I created and manage for her. Also, took a bunch of digital pictures and so far have put up one she approved. There were others I took later which I haven?t even seen. It was a wonderful, beautiful but exhausting weekend. Did I mention poignant? So much so I cried when it was all over?for various reasons. A few days earlier I secured a workshop slot for Sylvia with Tumblewords and she was finally able to nail a date for a reading at Barnes and Nobles where her boo...

What's Happening Now
2006-12-02 15:42:01
Now I'm seriously looking for a suitable nursing position. Vacation's over. I'm also rearranging many things in my life. That includes getting rid of a few junkie things in my apartment, giving away some good stuff and buying or building 2 large wooden cabinets for decent looking storage in my bedroom. I'm moving things I have been storing at Paul's house because that's what he wants. I am finished with having any of my stuff at anyone else's place. I was surprised and happy to hear me say this to a friend who made an offer for storage. I will take take of my own stuff now. My place no matter how humble it may be is my castle of goodwill to myself. I am whittling down my possessions. I don't need so many things any more. Last night I gave my young friend Betty a small pile of things for her new apartment. It's her first place on her own.Betty just made her first short documentary. It's an artsy piece on death and dying with clips of me talking about my hospice exper...

The weird thing is I think I originally said it was private and did not get an RSS feed although I think it's available through Live Journal. If I have one I don't know where it's located.I'm off to Ireland tomorrow morning. It has been a few years since I've been out of the country. This should be interesting. I'll write a few notes from there.

It has been awhile. Frankly my new job is exhausting. All I feel like doing when I get home is undressing and resting. This job averages about 50 hours a week and I haven?t even been trained for all the responsibilities yet. Will I stay with it? I will for as long as I can. It takes a lot of time and patience to train someone. I owe them. I want to master my duties and responsibilities. I am receiving valuable training that could be used in any location. It would be unfair to cut and run. Besides, I make a decent living at this. But my life is melting away. The Paul drama continues. We remain friends with blurred lines and boundaries. My biggest news on the home front is that I now have a fancy, expensive Italian wrought iron bed. The headboard stands about 5 feet in the middle with lots of curls of iron work. The foot board and its curly design come up to about 3.5 feet. There are also decorative side rails reflecting the same curly design. I saw this same pattern sten...

Something quite interesting happened this week. The nurse I share an office with, the facility?s treatment nurse, took a few days off to be with her husband who is going through some tests and possibly surgery. Dee, a PRN (as needed) nurse, took her place for this week. This happens to be a nurse who was working at another facility with me about 10 years ago when I did an eight month stint as a CNA (certified nurse?s aide). I had already applied and had been accepted to nursing school for the fall of that year and I wanted to experience the environment for a variety of reasons. It just so happens I kept a poetry journal of the experiences and put a collection together which a few years latter won a monetary prize and publication. I dedicated the book to a nurse and an aide that I respected where I worked. When it was published I could only find the nurse and gave him a few extra copies. One of them wound up in Dee?s hand. (I would have given her one had I known where she was...

Picked up a forth station for Gypsy Art Show. It is still under whelming the amount of listeners internet radio draws. I get way more downloads off my podomatic site and iTunes. I?ve made a point to listen to the stations who carry me. It?s almost never when my show is on because I?m only able listen at night and on weekends. I?d like to know the company I keep. For the most part I?m impressed and really don?t understand why more people aren?t tuning in to free and unique radio that you can play on your computer while you?re surfing or working or when you?re just lying around resting. Live links to these stations I?m referring to are on the front of my main site: http://belindasubraman.com Yesterday was Thanks giving . I was prepared to spend it alone because that?s just the way it was working out. I would have had an okay day no matter what. I was planning to decorate my place a bit for Christmas and wrap a few presents that I have already. I did not want to be with anyone ...

Today was my first day of orientation for my new management job at a first rate nursing center. It is exactly what I hoped for. It?s a lot of work, mostly important paperwork but includes many duties of which I am barely being introduced to. I like the way the place is run. It seems very organized. It?s very clean and attractive and the people are nice. I am very happy to be a part of it.Otherwise, I?m still a little under the weather. Severe allergies with heavy cold-like symptoms are abating but there is still a cough and I?m still on decongestants. I feel tired and a little spacey but I can still think and operate fairly well. I desperately want to be over this and not to be coughing around residents and staff who probably think I?m highly contagious. Concerning my podcasting, I had an interesting interview recently with a superb guitarist from Sarajevo. He talks about continuing to perform during the war. He carried a gun on his hip, used an emergency generator for power...

Reflections on 9-11
2006-09-12 01:39:02
Five years ago I had been on call all night for hospice and was making a death call around 5:00 a.m. It was a particularly long visit because we could not get a call back from the medical examiner. Here?s a piece I wrote not long after the date:September 11, 2001My day begins at 4:00 A.M.A patient has died.I go to Pronounce.Humility and compassion is the mood. The niece stays with me.We wait for the medical examiner to call back.We talk. She seems even more polished and kindthe more I get to know her.She tells me family history, shows me photos. She asks about me, learns how I came to be a nurse, that I am divorced but happyand somewhat fulfilled. Finally when the mortician comes we hug goodbye. She adds a kiss on the cheek and I return it.Intimate, poignant death!I walk out into the sunlightfeeling depth, satisfaction, compassion.A young man runs after mesaying something about a bomb.I say, ?Oh someone made a bomb threat???No, the World Trade Center has blown up and the Pentagon!??Oh,...

2006-09-07 07:03:01
I received two packages of multiple cds today. One was from Extremo the Clown. I thought paper worms might jump out when I opened the box but na. Besides the cds there was a surprise though?a green hand painted plaster skull. Guess I?ll put it in my Day of the Dead collection. I haven?t heard the cds yet but will in a few days. But how many people can say today they got a gift of a green skull!Paul has been away for over a week but will be back this Sunday. I have missed him so much. I managed to have a good day last Saturday though. I drove the country roads to Mesilla, about 40 miles away, and took a few photos along the way and back as well as a few at a festival for Cinco de Mayo. I took myself out to lunch and enjoyed my company just fine. While waiting for the festivities to begin several people came up to talk to me. One older couple sat down beside me and talked about an hour and a half. Just simple relaxed communion. I had friendly approachable vibs?on that day. Ot...

I?ve had a few interesting interviews lately. I?ll be posting the one with Neil Rosengarden in a couple of days at http://www.belinda_subraman.podomatic.com Neil got his start in music by performing with Al Hirt on a national Thanksgiving special many years ago. Since then he has performed or recorded with just about every name in the business. Just posted today is Music of the Universe 19, which is my favorite music show so far. Last night I interviewed Alex Cash, a good singer/songwriter in his own right but who has sang with and engineered Van Morrison among many others. Monday I interviewed Frank Wilson, Book Review editor for the Philadelphia Inquirer, I think since the 80s. We talked briefly about The DaVinci Code, I told him that my friend Sonja said it was like a Nancy Drew book for adults and he laughed and told me to pay his compliments to her. Last Wednesday I interviewed Todd Sheets, a horror movie writer and director who also has a syndicated radio show called Nig...

Aunt Kat
2006-09-07 07:03:01
My Aunt Kat died yesterday morning. I found out last night just before my internet cable service went out. Just a week ago I saw her in a dream. She was telling me some suggestions about hospice. Something like as a patient worsens the circle should widen around the patient, that more relatives should be informed. She was a white haired lady with the beautiful face she had a forty. I had never seen her with white hair but her face is how I remembered it when I was much younger and lived in the same community. It was understood that I was being allowed in some dimension that was not usually allowed. It was understood, with love, that I would be humble and grateful for this meeting. Much of the dream I do not remember but the last scene was Aunt Kat on an elevator just before the door was to be closed. It was only at that moment that I realized exactly who it was and how special it was to have this kind of communication. I have strong memories of her beauty and kindness. I...
Big Changes, Outward Bound
2006-09-07 07:03:01
Much has happened. On the very day I decided to leave the hospice cooperation where I have worked for over five years I got an incredible email from a lady named Sylvia Thompson. She is a poet living in El Paso who had sent some of her work to Gerald England and his online mag who happens to be in England. He told her about me, said she might want to get in touch. Soon after I received another email stating that she ?isn?t usually a pest but? the more she read the more she saw we had in common. She was a poet in El Paso, had been a CNA in the past as I had before nursing school, was into new age approaches and meditation but the real grabber was her statement that she had Stage 4 colon cancer and may be needing hospice soon. I asked her to send her phone number. She did and within a few minutes we were talking. I met her at a coffee shop within a couple of hours after that. Much was swirling in our heads about many things. We seemed to hit it off.Yesterday El Paso flooded and...

2006-09-07 07:03:01
August 9 2006We arrived in Dublin around 9:30 this a.m. Paul?s old friends, Sarah and Tom, were waiting for us. I had only exchanged one email with Sarah and did not have any real impression of her. She greeted me with a warm hug and kiss and Tom was also very warm. I knew right away everything would be good. After we arrived at their house and were given the house tour we soon were taken on the local tour around Rush and other nearby villages. The sea was always around the bend, the weather very mild, probably upper sixties with a cool wind and light rain. We visited Ardgillan castle with wonderful, flower, herb and vegetables gardens and acres of green lawn freely used for gatherings. Multi colored, cascading flowers were everywhere. Everything was charming. In the evening Sarah made a lovely dinner of chicken breasts, Queens potatoes, mixed vegetables and stuffed tomatoes. When I thought the meal was over and I was quite satisfied, Sarah served fresh strawberries and whippe...

August 11,2006After a pleasant chat over breakfast Sarah and Tom took us the airport again for our journey to Germany. We discovered our bags were 3 pounds overweight but with a wink and a nod we were told we were okay. That?s friendly, laid back Ireland.Paul and I slept through this one-hour hop to Amsterdam . It seemed the entire journey would go well. When we landed we had barely one hour to find our gate for Luxembourg . On the outset it seemed like plenty of time but the more we walked through the labyrinth we realized we would be lucky to make it in time. We were following the signs and we were not lost but we made left turns, right turns, went upstairs, then downstairs, then upstairs, then down stairs, right, left. We made it about 5 minutes before the bus left to take us out to the plane (another surprise). As we got off the bus to board in the middle of a field I noticed Fokker 50 written on the wing which certainly reminded me of a very funny American movie called ?Mee...

August 15, 2006We said goodbye to Anna, Isaac, and John at the Luxembourg airport. Anna and I held each other for a long time. It could easily be another two years before we see each other again. Although airline madness continues we were able to board with carry on luggage surely because we were travelling from one European Union country to another. After a one hour flight we had a 3.5 hour layover in Amsterdam . We passed it pleasantly in the large airport. During this time I discovered that the man with the scary eyes and wiry hair stamped on KLM cream and sugar is Rembrandt and that Heineken is Holland?s Budweiser (remembering some Americans? snobbery around the brand). It was interesting to look up and see the flight boards announcing flights to every major city in the world. If I didn?t feel like a world citizen at this point, I never would. I did.We arrived in Dublin in the early evening. Tom and Sara picked us up. Bless their hearts. We had somehow overlooked that ou...

August 18, 2006After a simple breakfast Maggie Ann went out for an errand. Paul and I were going to take a walk but we started talking to Stewart. He got more and more interesting as we listened. He?s been an avid sailor since he was a young boy in Australia. When he lost his parents he was accepted on board a ship, along with many other boys, as part of the crew of a ship that became very famous during World War II. His very good friend (like a son) Dario Francitti (number 2 in Indy 500 circuit) and his wife, Ashley Judd, surprised him on his birthday last year with a tour of the very same ship he worked on as a child. According to him he corrected the tour guide about every aspect of the ship. Rooms had been labelled wrong and many other facts were off. In essence he became the tour guide. He showed us digital pictures from this day (including aforementioned famous people). Maggie Ann gave him a fabulous cake in the shape of the ship (ship-shape!) He told us many exciti...
