My apartness is something felt, not spoken. Whether it is a separation based on language or outlook, it is omnipresent. At these moments, looking at art, familiar and comforting, has the ability to bring me home. On 13th January this year I attended the last showing at Louisiana of the Richard Avedon Retrospective. The collection premiered at Louisiana as per the wishes of the photographer prior to his death. Louisiana is not the state in the United States of America, but a gorgeous indoor/outdoor museum located just north of Copenhagen, Denmark, on the shores of what the Danes call the Gold Coast.
