Pappe, Want to Rebuilt This Tiny-Funny Toys
2007-03-02 04:45:00 First launched at June 2000 at Pasar Seni, an art market and festival held in our college, Institut Teknologi Bandung, in bandung, West Java. Made from paper and matches box, the whole ideas we got from one of the good book in library. During our free time we worked on it. It was quite of fun to make this toys. From unused matches box and paper turning into tiny-funny toys. We have to make a path for the puppets and all elements then cutting it, and finally paint it. All done by my girlfriend's (now my beloved wife) talented hands. Doing something really fun with your loving people is something that really make You happy.OK, Pappe is very fun because it can move if You push and pull the inside part of matches box. The Russian Dancer for example, if You move it it will look like a real Russian Dancer. Or the Hammersmith, when You move it will look like somebody hit his hammer. Quite a fun.On that time we sold pretty much of this toys, because everybody love of this funny toys. And k... More About: Funny , Fun , Toys , Toy , This
Tomica Toys, Finally Found
2007-03-02 04:06:00 Childhood MemoriesHow could I forget about Wikipedia, the only coolest encyclopedia ever, here is what I found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomica and try to keep it tracked. And yes, the "Melung" vehicle was more less just like on the picture. The main reason why I love this model is just because this kind of vehicles is the main transportation in our village through the nearest town. I was really enjoy the time when my mother take me on trip to town for shopping in a traditional market. As for me, that was the time when I could see another kinds of toys and then ask my mother to buy it for me. After this perhaps I'll go hunting for this toy. To keep it for good memorabilia. Tinky-Winky Controversy
2007-03-01 04:03:00 One of the Teletubbies, Tinky Winky , was the focus of a still hinted-at controversy in 1999 due to his carrying a bag that looks much like a woman's handbag (although he was first "outed" by the academic and cultural critic Andy Medhurst in a letter of July 1997 to The Face). A February 1999 article in the National Liberty Journal, published by evangelical pastor Jerry Falwell, warned parents that Tinky could be a hidden homosexual symbol, saying "he is purple—the gay pride color, and his antenna is shaped like a triangle—the gay pride symbol." A spokesman for Itsy Bitsy Entertainment Co., who licenses the characters in the United States, said it was just a magic bag. "The fact that he carries a magic bag doesn't make him gay. It's a children's show, folks. To think we would be putting sexual innuendo in a children's show is kind of outlandish." In an incident reported in 2000, a girl's Tinky Winky toy reportedly said "I got a gun". Kenn Viselman, then chairman of the Itsy... More About: Controversy , Over , Rove , Rover

About Teletubbies
2007-02-23 08:11:00 Teletubbies, a bunch of funny character from Ragdoll has become one of the most lovable character for the children. According to Andrew Davenport, Co-creator and writer of Teletubbies, says "The first rule is go straight for the comedy - if it isn't funny, it isn't Teletubbies" is not particularly true. As far as I concern, learning from how our children mad about Teletubbies is just because they were very attractive. See how the colors of their costume that so bright and different from each other. I believe that there was the main reason why kids [1,5 - 4 years old] are loves Teletubbies. How Teletubbies moves, with some over reactive movement, weird steps and dancing also attract children to pay an attention. Also how they always repeat every word is the easy way for children to understand. Then, after that I guess it was true what Andrew Davenport says, Teletubbies is quite funny enough, for us parents (if you had a chance to watch the show with your children) is like a "brainw... Hopscotch Games or Engklek
2007-02-02 02:58:00 Preview: This hopscotch game in our neighbourhood known as "engklek" or "engkleng", I don't know how it got named. Usually played by children on breaktime at school or when in the evening after they bath. Engklek requires good coordinating movement, since it was use only one leg to hop and jump. Also use a piece of broken roof-tile [pecahan genting] called "kreweng" or "gacuk". For example, we draw five squares along ended up to a half-cyrcle area named "gunungan" [this means the highest place to reach as a goal]. Throw gacuk to the first square, then you have to jump over the first square, directly to the second square. Hop and jump to gunungan than turn back. Stop at the second square, take the gacuk then you're allowed to jump on first square. Repeat this step increasing to next square. Gacuk use as a mark that you can't jump over the square where gacuk layed. There is the challenge because you have to stop from jumping, stand with one leg, bow to take gacuk, stand again, then... Bekel Game or Gatheng, a Memory of Our Childhood
2007-01-31 02:49:00 Still from http://www.geocities.com/childrenfolklore /about.html Remember years ago my little sister often play this bekel game, or "gatheng" refer to a term in our neighbourhood, a game that mostly played by girls. Sometimes it would be shamed if we are boys play that game. I don't know why, but this game is kind a "feminin" game. Maybe just because it's required graciousness or flexibelity. Didn't required much energy like boys often do. For a moment I was just smiling remembered how my sister (that now has got two little children) whine to our mother to bought her a set of bekel game in a traditional market at our little town, then she was so happy when she have ones. Then she played all the day in our home, together with her friends. Ahh, time pass so fast, my little sister now become a mother. Hope will teach her daughter, Eva to play bekel too. Want to see bekel played again.Around the world, children love to play different versions of the same traditional games. While grow... More About: Childhood , Memory , Hood , Game , Child

Tips For Toy Safety
2007-01-30 03:55:00 Toys could be dangerous for the children, be careful. This good article found on http://www.toydirectory.com/toysafety.htm Toy Safe ty Between January 1989 and September 1990, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission received reports of 33 deaths related to toys. Choking incidents with balloons, marbles or small balls, and parts of toys were reported in 20 of these fatalities. More choking deaths occur from balloons than from any other children's product and are evenly divided between children under three and over three years of age. Chairman Jacqueline Jones-Smith described actions the Commission is taking to prevent these choking deaths. During FY 1990, the Commission issued "Advance Notices of Proposed Rulemaking" (ANPR's) that could result in mandatory labels warning of the choking hazards presented by balloons, small balls and marbles. The agency also issued an ANPR that could result in warning labeling on toys having small parts that may be dangerous to younger children an... More About: Toy , Tips , Irritating

Congklak, Another Name of Dakon
2007-01-25 08:39:00 Another good, complete, and helpful article from http://www.expat.or.id/info/congklak.html One of the most fascinating things about living in Indonesia is the discovery of bits of Indonesian culture which are actually not Indonesian at all, but originate in other lands. For centuries, the Indonesian archipelago has been visited by traders from many corners of the world who came to buy spices and other agricultural riches. Indonesian cultural diversity benefited by the many peoples who passed through the archipelago, due to Indonesia's location along the primary trade route between Europe and Asia.Together with the items they brought to sell, these traders brought bits of their culture along with them as well. These included religion, language, foods and textile traditions. Less written about than spices, silks and ceramics, however, are the games brought to Indonesia by travelers over the centuries.I've long been fascinated with Congklak, which I had thought of as a traditional Ind... More articles from this author:2007-01-25 07:23:00 This game is very much favoured by children, mostly girls, in Indonesia. It is a typically Javanese games which is played when girls come together to have fun. They get really excited all through the game, smarting each other in the process. Before starting to play, let us tell you the things to be prepared. They are as follows:A solid block of wood, measuring about 2 feet long, 7 inch wide and 2 inch thick, on which two rows of shallow holes are carved out lengthwise. Each row has six holes. In addition, there are another two bigger holes; one at each end. Both ends of the wood are curved. As a rule, we must prepare 72 seeds of soursop, to be nut on the 6 holes, each having six.How To Play :Let us suppose Jean plays the game with Mary. First of all, Jean is ready to play. She begins by taking the whole seeds at any hole facing her. The seeds then are dropped one by one in the following holes, including in the one at the end, to be later called the "home" hole. On and on she goes, unt...
