Design problems and solutions
2007-09-06 11:53:00
Today is a great day~!Got an email from my lecturer and email from Ghazali and design development on the service apartment.Lots of solutions on design issues raised by the experience developer. 1. Glass internal wall replacing brickwalls that results tight corridor space. 2. Stacked air-conditioning units at upper duplex level, serving the living, the room below and the room above3. Reducing unnecessary space at staircase at liftcore4. Building facade enhancement with design thoughts collaborated with fins element for fire fighting requirements.5. Most important of all~ thinking out of the box, resolve issues with design thoughts~! Sometimes we need some brain twisting before answering simple questions. Problems will turn into solutions and problem is solutions.

An interesting web design you cannot miss ~!!"I strive for simplicity of values and functions in creativity and aesthetic success. I value and push for truthfulness, personality and substance in design. And above all, beside bringing food onto the table, I pursue design as a tool to contribute myself as part of the species for the better of the surrounding in which I live and share. Mecanoo
2007-09-03 03:31:00
"10 Statements of Mecanoo1. Land as an expensive commodityThe difference between Los Angeles and Tokyo is obvious to everyone. Los Angeles, the city of the twentieth century, designed for the car which is literally given more room than people are: there are more square metres of car parks than of built-up areas. There is an abundance of land and it is almost valueless. This will be bound to change in the twenty-first century. Tokyo, the gigantic village of millions of people and public transport. Every square metre has been thought about and put to use, above ground and below it. Land is very expensive, even more expensive than the houses and buildings that stand on it. The Netherlands, a country with a high population density and a shortage of land. At the same time the country that wastes its land because the price of land is much too low. The result is a lack of intelligent solutions such as dual use of land, inventive combinations of infrastructure and building.2. Love of nature...

Does Honeycomb housing with conflict of feng shui beliefs?
2007-08-27 05:44:00
An architect from Malaysia, Mazlin Ghazali did a survey on honeycomb housing with theories, research & practice. Impressive!"Honeycomb Housing is a new Malaysian innovation from Arkitek M. Ghazali in collaboration with Universiti Putra Malaysia and offers an affordable and environmentally friendly alternative to terrace housing. It is gaining wide support from potential house buyers in exhibitions, amongst housing professionals at seminars and now the Sarawak Government for the Ninth Malaysia Plan. However, Developers are concerned that the departure from rectangular shaped building lots to triangular housing compounds, which link up to form hexagonal cul-de-sacs then honeycomb communities, is too radical and may conflict with Feng Sui beliefs. If true, this cultural objection may deter Chinese house buyers, a major section of the Housing market. To test this serious commercial risk a pioneering Developer (Renewed Group based in Johor Baru) commissioned the University to conduct a r...

I had been busy lately getting hold of 3dmax modeling with Vray rendering. I am now into FormZ modeling. My learning progress is basically watching videos and u can get the tutorials from gnomon. The image beside is some photoshop montaged with background, cars, trees and people. The glass is still not satisfying yet since I was running out of time...it would do for the time being. Dear Architects, I am sick of your shit.
2007-08-03 04:40:00
"Architect s love to discuss how much sleep they have gotten. One will say how he was at the studio until five in the morning, only to return again two hours later. Then another will say, oh that is nothing. I haven?t slept in a week. And then another will say, guess what, I have never slept ever. My dear architects, the measure of how hard you?ve worked and how much you?ve accomplished is not related to the number of hours you have not slept. Have you heard of Rem Koolhaas? He is a famous architect. I know this because you tell me he is a famous architect. I hear that Rem Koolhaas is always sleeping. He is, I presume, sleeping right now. And I hear he gets shit done. And I also hear that in a stunning move, he is making a building that looks not like a glass cock, but like a concrete vagina. When you sleep more, you get vagina. You can all take a lesson from Rem Koolhaas."My collegue got a stroke and was hopitalized and I even suspicious of he is lying to escape work. Even you work ...

Design studio press
2007-07-21 06:17:00
Some useful stuff from design studio press and the gnomon workshop. I had been going into the detail of rendering this few weeks. Learning to render a scene. Three point lighting- key light, fill light, back light. Vray settings~using irradiance map with light cache GI settings. Hoping to reveal some refined work soon. The technique~enjoy your work. It had been so easy now for the global illumination setting. Just adding up some bounces of light will lit up the entire scene. Image loaded is without photoshop adjustment except the watermark. Image rendered through max with one plane light, with irradiance & light cache GI. Need to add an ambient to lit further more at lower portion, to add some reflective mapping on the glass and some adjustment to floor tiles, the cladding and some photoshop trees and shopfronts. With the dynamic GI provided from Vray we now only need a key light for the sharper shadow and an ambient for the overall color. With scanline rendering we need so much...

Renderings
2007-07-11 20:07:00
I had been continously rendering the same scene for 3days. 14 results with numerous try outs and the conclusion is ~ photoshop is the best tool resolving most problems, creating your intentions. The technique is~ you need to understand a drawing. The composition of colors, angle selection, layout, materials and do not go into the details. The final rendering is really expansive, this time. Takes more time and effort at self learning.

Vray Splotchiness

I was battling for the splotchiness rendered through Vray in 3dmax, through some facts finding and finally, I caught the bug~!! It is not the global illumination setting~! It is the Global Switches~!!! Yes, I am involved in the building design, cad documentation and 3d renderings, hoping to get more and more... It is quite some improvement after the sketchup process, I am modeling in 3dmax now and trying to render it through Vray, dealing with the avant-garde rendering engine here~@@
