Vesta Reclines
2007-05-25 00:07:00 Are you familiar with the asteroid Vesta in astrology and in myth?The key archetype for Vesta is the virgin and her priestesses were called Vestal Virgins who tended the temple fires. Vesta was a single goddess, daughter of Saturn (Chronos or Kronos) and Rhea. Her brother Zeus gave Vesta rulership of the sacred fire and she was protectress of homes offering hospitality to strangers, the warmth of the hearth, and she united communities...thus she is connected to government in a mundane or national chart and to protecting the home(land.)In an astrology chart, her position shows where we guard our passions and where we're aware that every action carries a sacredness. 2007-04-13 16:23:00 Drawing skills April 13 2007 Excerpt from Robe rt Genn's Painter's Keys Newsletter: As I've grown older I've noticed a decline in my ability to draw. That is, my facility to draw lines that show the way things look is less than it used to be. I put this down to my increased interest in directly painting form, colour and tone rather than accurate delineation of edges. Fact is, I've been less interested in linear work. I've done fewer drawings and, unlike some of my actively journaling, sketching and thumb nailing contemporaries, I'm rusty. I've often wondered if there are other factors in play as well. If you read Nicholas Humphries' remarkable thesis comparing cave drawings with those of a mute, autistic child by the name of Nadia, you begin to see that the ability to draw may be linked to the absence of well-developed language skills.
