Candle holders make puzzle piece or spinning top .

From Industreal. Designed by Barford, Taylor & Klauser. The molten candle wax flows into a mould, casting a piece of a jigsaw puzzle. Or the wax from a molten tea light (without the metal pot) flows into a mould casting a spinning top.

Screw down flower pot.

Italian gardenware firm Serralunga (famous for those outsized polyethylene planters by Corrado Thibaldi) has also produced the Santavase screw down flower pot by Denis Santachiara. The pot has a steel screw at the end that allows it to be screwed into the ground. This makes it possible to use in slanting or uneven gardens. There's also a metal stand (inset) available should you decide to take it inside.

This would look very cool. But, like everything cool, it needs space. It would probably not look very nice in a cramped corner of the bathroom. It requires a bit of room, preferably you should be able to walk around it. Matt finish acrylic screen and Exmar composite made from resin and quartz powder in white satin or sand finish, left or right-handed access. It is called the Chiocciola shower and it is available from Moss at USD 12,470:- a piece. You really gotta love showering...

NON indoor/outdoor rubber chair.

I have managed to get some money together and bought a couple of these cool chairs. Black. Rubber over a steel core. Straight, simple and stackable. The Non chair has won numerous design awards and is featured in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art. The chairs are completely waterproof and can be left outside. They are available in black, gray, red, and green, and were designed by Danish Komplot Design for Källemo, Sweden. USD 590:- on, among other places, Nova 68.

Pawprint rug.

It seems I can't escape the strange, weird and wondrful rugs. Previously I have posted the landscaped rug/seating, bear door mat, the rug with pillow, the rugified impression of a rabbit bouncing across a field of pristine snow, the stamp rug, and the unfortunate Yeti. Here's the next installment; feline pawprints across damp sand. The rug itself is hand tufted wool. From GBP 1,095:- (approx. USD 2,075:-) at Lion Witch Wardrobe.

The Flap (almost) indefinitely adjustable sofa.

Designed in 2000 by Francesco Binfaré, the Flap's distinctive shape and multiple adjustable back rests make it one of the most instantly recognizable of the sofas designed in the last decade. USD 10,155:- plus VAT in fabric, USD 12,414:- in leather from Europe by Net. If it has not been sold since, there's a demo example in white leather for sale in the Normann showroom in Copenhagen for around DKK 55,000:-. That seems like a bargain at USD 9,400:-!

Sperm plate.

They say it's a biscuit porcelain plate with "relief" designs. And by all means, sure they are in relief. But they look a lot like sperm to me. Design by Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel for the Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum, The Netherlands. The plate is 5 inches in diameter and will set you back USD 120:- at Moss.

Stainless steel minimalist mailbox.

Laser cut, press formed, machine fused, brushed hairline finish, key lock on back, even with a matching stainless nameplate for engraving. How could you resist this ultra minimalist mail box even though it has not been submitted for USPS rating. Maybe because they want you to shell out a 50 percent deposit up front with your order. I don't think so. Would you? It's USD 750:- on Eboniste.

Fingerprint bowl

Well, it's really called fingerbowl and it is the work of German artist Judith Seng. It's one of several pictures sent to MocoLoco by Matthias Demacker. All from the Young German Design show recently held in Bonn, Germany, and organized by Gesellschaft für Kunst und Gestaltung.

Yeti rug.

Here's why no-one has ever seen or encountered any Yeti. Someone else did, and that someoneelse seems to have gotten the upper hand. Joke, OK? The Yeti rug by artist Debra Swann, and on her website she explains (excerpt): "...the most visible trait (of her work) comes from a collision between the worlds of reality and fantasy. Taking materials from the everyday and transforming them into fantastical objects or attire, I attempt to investigate my own imagination and explore the boundaries between the everyday and the subconscious or metaphysical worlds of fantasy." Way to go.

Who has not doodled with cup-rings of coffee on a coffee-shop counter top or office blotter? I have, that's for sure. Frequently. Now these cups takes coffee cup doodling to a whole new level, and I love it. I found this on iCYbELLE, a Spanish speaking blog that has been kind enough to link to our other blog, Smart Stuff. iCYbELLE is in Spanish, and though I must admit that Spanish is all Greek to me, they had the link, so now I know that these fab cups come from Thorsten van Elten, are designed by Valeria Miglioli and Barnaby Barford and sell for GBP 29:- (approx. USD 53:-) for the pair.

For all you sushi lovers out there. No more messy trail of drops between the little bowl of soy sauce and your plate. Here's the sushi plate with the built-in dipping dimple in the middle and grooves for the chopsticks. Bronze winner at the IDEA Awards 2006. A new take on power strips.

The E-rope is a new idea for a power strip. It lets users add or remove sockets at will. Moreover, all the sockets can be turned 180 degrees, so adjacent sockets are not blocked. When electrical devices are not in use, simply twist the socket section 90 degrees to disconnect the flow of electricity. Gold winner in the Student Design category in the IDEA Awards 2006. Design Chul Min Kang and Sung Hun Lim for the Pratt Institute.

The MIN children's chair and rocking horse.

The MIN is a fun, engaging chair for children aged five to eight that also converts into a rocking chair. Made from a single piece of injection molded plastic, the design offers great manufacturing efficiencies and could be produced in a wide range of fun colors. With no legs and its single, rounded form, the MIN.CHAIR is ambiguous at first glance. But the cleverness of its dual function soon wins over all who see it. Gold winner in the Student Design category in the IDEA Awards 2006. Design Chul Min Kang for the Pratt Institute.
