It's one of the infamous Japanese Crafting books!To the right we have my interpretation of amixture of the 'dog' patterns available.Connecting the head to the body was trickierthan expected, and sewing on the eyes and nose was way easier than I could have imagined.Where can you get one of these books? EBAY- thats a link to the ebayer I bought the book from.They are a bit pricey so be prepared.Oh and they're in Japanese, but thank god they arenumbered so you know what pattern goes with whatcutey pie (theres a whole huge pattern page included).Tags: Brown Dog and Blue Jeans

thats right, I got fabric glue all over my sewing machine needle and foot because I could not wait.I woke up and thought 'cripes! I got nothing for the Georgia boys for easter.'The rabbit was easy but gooey.Behind it is a bunny hat I made from an old t-shirt.No, I am not a creative genius. I got it hereIt couldn't be girly. These are boys so I ixnayed any pink whatsoever.And definitely no ribbons! So I fudged it a bit.They kinda look like a cheap ripoff of muskateer ears.oh well, I'll just fill it with candy. when I heard plain mabel was closin' shopI decided to have a peek at what was left.Needle-Felting Kits!yet another craft I HAD TO conquer.See the wispy stuff? that's wool roving.See that knob with the sharp spikes?You use that to jab at the roving to compact it down.I got a bit of an arm workout cuz I was jabbing like there was no tomorrow.Hand/Eye coordination is a must for this one...otherwise you might end up stabbing yourself,and I think that would hurt,a lot.Tags: felted coin purse

seems like I have a thing for pink lately.I found the pattern in the Spring 2007 issue of KNIT ITI used Debbie Bliss' baby cashmerino for the hat.I made up my own pattern for the flower petals,because I just couldn't figure out how topurl front and back and get it to work.When in doubt make up your own pattern!First time: circular needles, knitting in the round on double points-if you screw up on this part its okbecause your petals will go over it!Once I got it going it was pretty cool just to veg out and knit.Since I don't know anyone who is expectingI'll probably toss this up on my Etsy Shopgive me a day or two to figure out a price.-SOLD-If you look closely you can see I've cleaned off my bench,this can mean only one thing....Jewelry is up next!Tags: Knit Flower Hat

ok so I realize I use 'first EVER' quite a bitand its annoying to read- so I'll make aneffort to banish that phrase from my writing.I subscribed thru bloglinesto a huge list of crafting blogs.you can have a look at them hereSo I got turned onto the whole Japanese crafting book bonanza and found the owl pattern online somewhere.However the pattern is in Japanese...so I did a bunch of do-overs, seam rips and fidgeting.There was no swearing involved in the making of this owl.He is a bit uneven, leaning backwards to the left a bit.The sewing on of circular bottoms gets me every time!The dog painting has been held up by an unfortunate color choice and is being re-gessoed.I am knitting a hat on circular needlesFOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!sorry couldn't help myself.Tags: working out the kinks

This is my very first EVER resin cast.It took 2 days to complete.I bought this book by Sherri Haab"The Art of Resin Casting"and then purchased the easy cast resin and a mold from her website sherrihaab.comI'm giving this book a thumbs up.It's an easy read with tips that are truly helpful.The 'Easy Cast' had no odor either (yay!)the waiting was the only bummerbut I'm glad I did.Tags: Sherri Haab knows her resins

Today I broke the vacuum cleaner.I also saved a lizard that I found in my house,he was hanging out with my buddha.In the spirit of house cleaning I decided totackle the 'getting uglier' by the day toilet.Living here in Florida we have HARD water.It's left quite a mineral trail in the toilet.You can tell its minerals by bleaching it,and if it doesn't change colorsthan you know you have mineral deposits.I hate harsh chemicals and I'm afraid ofpoisoning the dog. She loves toilet water.I've offered her many types of 'better' waterbut noooooooo she's gonna have the waterthat a poodle turned her on to.So with a little hunting I found an online gem.(and no I don't get paid for posting...)Shaw's pads do the trick and quite well,if you can put a little elbow grease into it.I just bought the pads without the handle.Now I have a toilet that sparkles.I bet the dog won't even notice.Tags: ring around the toilet

I make Altoid Shrine s every now and thenwhen the urge hits. Someone asked me to make more monsters,so now I'm painting. My tester gourd-house that I put out abouta year ago has no tenants,except for a few lizards every now and then.I have updated the design with a perch.That's right this unit has a perch.What a weird word.I also painted it because, well becausesomeone asked me to make more monsters.I grew this gourd in my backyard.I have 3 more drying in the shed.I will lacquer it, and hang it with my tester housein my grapefruit tree that is slowly dying.Maybe my yard guy will get a kick out of it....Tags: gourd, bird house
