2007-06-09 10:05:00 Bonsai have increased in popularity immensely recently. Every week there seems to be more and more on ebay for sale, some going for huge amounts of money. The bonsai population has certainly increased in my garden also, I think they are starting to take over. More About: Bonsai , Attitudes , Popularity , Pula

2007-06-05 07:45:00 Summer has hit us with a vengeance and that means a lot of excess heat for our bonsai. How Long to Leave Wire on
2007-06-04 18:14:00 How long exactly should you leave wire on your trees? I must admit that I have scarred one or two myself from leaving wire on there too long. Although if you take it off too early the branch will not stay in place. We need to find somewhere between the two extremes ... More About: Tips , Leave , Wire , Long , Wiring

Wild Trees for Inspiration
2007-05-28 20:51:00 Inspiration can come from many places but I feel the best place for it is from natural trees in the wilds. Trees can become very twisted on their own without human interference. Many people who make bonsai want them to look natural and the best places to see exactly what they should look ... More About: Photo , Inspiration , Wild , Rees

Collecting Trees From the Wilds - Part 2
2007-05-23 07:30:00 I checked my collected ash tree last night and found 3 small new leaves already! A very good sign indeed. In fact I have never had a yamadori tree which has just been collected to sprout new leaves so quickly, it usually takes quite a while to recover. Maybe it’s to do with the fact ... Redwoods Like to Think Big
2007-05-22 18:43:00 The redwood is the tallest tree on earth. Fact. How do they grow to this enormous size? They think big! It sounds silly but everything about their structure is set up to be huge. I have a 1 year old tree (see below). The strange thing about it is that its tiny. ... More About: Science , Bonsai , Woods , Like
Collecting Trees From the Wilds (Yamadori)
2007-05-21 07:30:00 A few days back I collected a very large ash tree which is about 3 foot high. Because of the place that it was, it needed to be collected asap and I could not wait until winter because it may not be there anymore. I’ve found with ash trees that they bounce back very easily indeed and need a fair bit of punishment to kill them off. Not that I wanted to do that at all, quite the opposite. Bonsai Farm Videos
2007-05-20 22:24:00 I have no doubt that Bonsai Farm is the best website on the internet for free bonsai tutorial videos. Lindsay Farr hosts the video series and gives many hints and tips. The most impressive one is a page accessible from the top bar called “Have Your Say“ With this addition you can post your own message to the main page! You create a post and it gets sent to me for moderation. Once checked over it will appear on the main page. Give it a try… Also I’ve added a link to “The Tree“. A good website I found with tons of information about trees. It can be found on the right hand side underneath Blogroll More About: Site

How to get your bonsai to leaf by making them sweat!
2007-05-15 07:45:00 Two of my trees this year have not grown leaves after winter and have been in a dormant state now for way too long. What?s the point of Grafting?
More articles from this author:2007-05-13 07:30:00 For a long time I wondered what the reason for grafting was. A sloppy graft seemed to be so disfiguring and pointless. However a graft is used to gain the desired qualities of a specimen tree. If the specimen tree is very straight, has many leaves or is a beautiful colour a graft can be ...
