Chocolate Cake - Painting a Day
2008-03-24 08:04:00 Oil on Gessoed Hardboard (Masonite)6" high x 6" wide Click here to bidIs almost 3 am and I can't sleep, so what better way to relax than entering my studio in the silence of the night when there is no husband looking for something that's under his nose yet you have to go get it for him, no kids, just you and the paint. But yet I didn't want to do anything too big, just wanted to relax to go to bed, so I did a quick, very quick study of a chocolate cake. Just basic shapes and blocks of colors. It took me 20 minutes to make it... I might have sweet dreams! =] * Questions? Comments? It took me forever ever since I got back from NY for my last show, between taxes, computer work, business deals, etc, I couldn't even set a foot on it. Anyways, is almost 2 am and I was able to finish a quick painting to get back to my daily painting, which I missed so much!!I caught this union worker reading the paper on my last day at the New York Art Expo at the Javits Center this past March 3rd while waiting for my husband. The last day of the show and the day the sun finally came out. The light coming through the giant windows is hitting him from behind. I'm about 200 feet away from him, but I was able to snap a very nice picture. * Questions? Comments? Finally back at auction....
2008-03-19 22:09:00 Yes finally!I had a problem with the database for my private auction site, it went poof! so I've spent the past two days trying to fix things and finally implementing a SSL for it to keep all the information absolutely and completely private. Although we don't request any financial information, it was important for me to create the safest environment possible for you to bid in the absolute privacy and tranquility and to access your account safely and securely. Since I lost everything, and I really mean everything, accounts info, passwords, auctions, etc. (that was really a heartbreaking realization!), I don't know which auctions I set up that didn't meet the reserve or not, so all the paintings that came back from the NY ArtExpo (all originals!) I will list them in there, daily paintings, larger paintings and abstracts. So check it out 'cause I already started! www.valentiauctions.comRegistration as you know is absolutely and completely free. The only thing we do is to verify y... 2008-03-06 21:58:00 Well, I'm finally back online!... I thought I would be able to stop by my blogs and post something about the show at the end of the day, but by the time we had dinner after the show I was so exhausted I only wanted to get in bed and sleep until next morning... wonderful things happening, very, very good sales at the show and now after the show, 5 gallery representations so far, great business contacts and incredible experiences!... I've met the most wonderful, gentle and supportive people ever! I met so many of my collectors in person that is so overwhelming! thank you all for stopping by, for the flowers, for the chocolates and for the lattes! so very nice of all of you!... I had also the opportunity to meet so many of you online artists friends and colleagues, so great to put a face to the art and wonderful emails I've received from all of you!... I can't stop thanking everyone, because without all of you this wouldn't have ever happened.... this was a big step in my art care... More About: New York , York , Back , New-York , 2008

Blue Irises
2008-02-20 08:22:00 Oil on Hardboard6" high x 12" wide (15.2 x 30.5 cm)Click here to bidBuy NowFrom time to time I take the courage to paint something by the clock, meaning I set a fairly good amount of time and try to paint against the clock. I do this because I have the tendency to stop on little details instead of just loose my hand and 'feel' the paint on my brush. So a loose painting here and there is always a great experience. I admit I'm very boring with flowers. I like just a few and don't go out of my selection very often, but this time I went completely overboard! I painted blue irises. Not my favorite flower but nonetheless very beautiful.* Questions? Comments? 2008-02-14 06:09:00 Oil on 3/4" Gessoed Hardboard 6" high x 6" wide Click here to bidThis painting although small in size took me a while to paint, mainly because of the amount of detail it has. I reached a point in which I had to stop thinking about the people I was painting and paint the shapes and colors I was seeing, many times turning the board upside down to focus on the shapes. I found this lady at the Romeo town fair, the small town where Kid Rock is from, this past summer, and as I was taking the picture I thought how incredible and spontaneous the scene was. She's just sitting in the wagon waiting for her kids.Esta pintura aunque pequeña en tamaño me tomó algo terminarla, básicamente por la cantidad de detalle que tiene. Llegó un momento en el que tuve que parar de pensar en la gente que estaba pintando y me dediqué a pintar las formas y colores que veía, muchas veces poniendo la tabla de cabezas par apoder concentrarme en las formas. If you sell your artwork on eBay you HAVE to read this!
2008-02-09 17:34:00 Last year around March 2007, eBay, during one of the many 'improvements' no one asked for a glitch or new feature was brought up to the table. What this so called glitch does is place a revised listing at the beginning of the queue regardless of the remaining time left on the listing along with the display of the newly listed icon in front of the title like if it was just recently listed. This is not only creating an unfair marketplace by all means but more problems down the road.Despite the THOUSANDS of complaints from many honest and serious sellers, the glitch has yet not being fixed and seems that something greater needs to happen for eBay to realize the enormous damage they have caused to thousands of sellers many who solely depend on eBay for their livelihood. The problem is not exactly the glitch itself but the large number of dishonest sellers who jumped on the wagon to take advantage of this problem clogging the search results, newly listed queue, ending soon queue and cat... Signing a painting... is that enough??
2008-02-05 12:36:00 Countless times over the years I found people contacting me asking me if the painting they bough is mine since the signature reads MValenti. 100% of those times the painting is not and there is no way for the owner of the painting to find out who's from as the only thing that identifies the painting is the signature on the front of the painting. Many don't even know if their so beloved artist is real or is just a copycat trying to imitate someone else and signing as someone else just to cash some money as they can never find them after the purchase. An even if the artist is real they miss many possible sales as they can't be identified.Over the years that was one of my biggest concerns and I solved it years ago and I'm sure many other artists are doing the same or similar but unfortunately not all.A signature on the front of the painting was ok centuries ago, when being an artist was well, not so popular, and the names of the artists were somewhat unique. 2008-02-05 00:43:00 Oil on Gessoed Hardboard (Masonite)6" high x 6" wide Click here to bidI wanted to paint something today for my blog and my daily painting website. I feel like I've abandoned my daily paintings lately! I've being so busy with the last minute details for the New York show, that I haven't had time for almost anything else. My time is so short these days that I just wanted to relax and paint without pressure, and I wanted to do this piece for quite a while. I found this lady sitting on the sand at the Stoney Creek Park here in Michigan. I thought the whole scene was interesting. Lots of blues so quite a challenge since blue is one of the colors I don't really like too much... don't ask! it goes way back in my life... anyways this was certainly a relaxed painting, she seems relaxed, sitting there on a warm afternoon, on the last few days of summer right before the beaches get closed for the season and I so needed to be her today, just that, sitting while having a beer (that's what ...
