Papaveri Rossi (Red Poppies) - Tuscany Landscape
2008-08-02 16:33:00
Oil on 3/4" deep Gallery Wrapped Canvas12" high x 16" wideClick here for a larger view / to place your bid. After the death of my beloved dog Ruffo, entering the studio to paint has been quite a challenge, but non the less, life continues, or so they say. I finished this landscape from Tuscany a couple of days ago. A nice field of grass, wild poppies and a vineyard with the view of mountains as far as your eyes can go.Después de la muerte de mi amado perro Ruffo, entrar a mi estudio para pintar a sido un desafío, pero la vida continúa, o así dicen al menos. Terminé este paisaje de la Toscana hace un par de días. Una pradera de hierba, amapolas silvestres y un viñedo con la vista a las montañas tan lejos como su vista le deje llegar. Good Bye Dear Ruffo... R.I.P.
2008-07-26 02:43:00
Today I had to do one of the hardest things in my life. I took my 16 years old German Bracco named Ruffo to the vet this afternoon, hopping they would give me a pill or something that would make him feel better. Instead the reassurance of what deep inside me I knew all along became a reality. Ruffo was in bad shape and although his adorable spirit of big puppy was there cheering me up and barking for goldfish, his body and his heart were not working on his behalf. He looked at me many times walking towards the door like saying "common mommy! let's go for a walk" but this was his last ride ever.Ruffo, my gorgeous german bracco born in Venezuela, South America 16 years ago, who came with us in an airplane to the US, an always big puppy who would make us laugh with his cute face and incredible character died today in my arms, surrounded by love, hugs and kisses from the first person who saw him come to this world the night of July 15, 1992.He was an incredible dog, full of energy and ...

Peach Pies for $10 - Revisited
2008-07-25 17:39:00
Oil on 3/4" deep Hardboard8" high x 8" wideClick here for a larger view / to place your bid. This is the second painting I'm doing of this same scene. A kid on a bench during the Peach Festival not too far away from where I live in Michigan in a town called Romeo (the same town from where Kid Rock is from) a very hot afternoon helping mom sell peach pies for $10 along with many other home made goodies during the Peach Festival. Next to him there was the white tent where the rest of the pies where being offered for sale by mom and dad. The kid had some on the bench with him in the white box just for the cars that would stop to buy a pie without having to actually leave the car, how clever! The entire scene was really interesting, a moment captured in a snap literally speaking, but what I really like about this painting is the game of light and really dark areas and how the street reflects on the window just behind the kid. A very interesting piece to revisit. To bid just click on th...

Oil on 3/8" deep Hardboard8" high x 8" wideSoldI did this painting a few weeks ago for a friend of mine, and I wanted to share the painting for today's post since I wasn't able to finish anything for today. I'm really pleased at how the painting turned out. This was a fun painting to do for the play of dark and light areas. If you would like to commission a similar painting just contact me.Pinté este cuadro hace unas semanas para una amiga mia, y quería compartirlo como el cuadro del día ya que me fué impossible terminar uno hoy. Estoy realmente satisfecha por el resultado. Este fue un cuadro divertido de pintar por el juego de luz y sombra. Si usted quisiera comisionar un cuadro similar solo contacteme.* Questions? Comments? Shadows in the Wheat Field
2008-07-22 07:52:00
Oil on 1/8" deep Hardboard5" high x 7" wideClick here for a larger view / to place your bid.I was driving the other day and I happened to come across a beautiful golden wheat field. Next to the field a red farm and far away a house. It reminded me of the golden wheat fields in France. Fear enough I started looking for the pictures of the French countryside I took a few years ago. Sure the wheat field I found just a few miles up my house here in Michigan is as beautiful as the ones in France, so I went down again to take a few pictures, so hopefully the next wheat field I pain would be the one from Michigan and not France.Estaba conduciendo el otro día y me tropesé con un lindo sembradío de trigo. Me recordó a los sembradíos dorados de trigo de Francia. Apenas llegué a casa busqué las fotos de los paisajes rurales franceses que tomé hace unos años. Seguro que los sembradíos que me encontré a unas millas de la casa aquí en Michigan son tan bellos como los de Francia, así que volví a ...

Oil on 3/8" deep Hardboard6" high x 6" wideClick here to place your bid. These two kids I found at the lake on Stoney Creek Park here in Michigan were extremely busy filling the recently opened hole they made in the sand. A pool, you would guess, well more or less. I kept staring at them because they were very into it. It was not a game of any sort, they both looked very inspired and very determined to fill the hole bucket by bucker of water. They kept both going back and forth each one carrying its own bucket.

Lost Somewhere in France
2008-07-06 06:18:00
Oil on 3/8" deep Hardboard6" high x 6" wideClick here to place your bid. This painting has tons of incredibly interesting parts and it was challenging from the beginning, in fact I've been trying to paint this image ever since I took the picture in our second road trip to France back in 2005. I'm not good at painting cars, and on top having to paint such a beautiful old car I admit was nervous from the start, what a beauty! On our second road trip to France, we had the opportunity to stop on literally every single town we found on our way to Paris. You have no idea how beautiful is to drive through out France until you reach Paris, what a nightmare of city! in terms of driving of course. After Poitiers, we drove through the town of Richelieu, yes the town of Cardinal Richelieu. On our way out we stopped at a small palace to take some pictures and soon we found ourselves stepping back in time... well kind of. A rally of old cars was taking place. The people sure looked like they were...

Oil on 3/8" deep Hardboard9" high x 12" wideClick here to place your bid.I did this painting a while ago and kept it for a while. I though to keep it for my collection, because I really like the way it came out. 4 friends having a drink and a snack at the Peach Festival in Romeo , MI this past summer. The girls in that awkward age where we are still not women yet try to behave like ones, and we are not kids anymore but our childhood is still all over the place.Terminé este cuadro hace un tiempo ya y me lo quedé por un tiempo. Pensé quedármelo para mi colección. porque realmente me gustó como quedó. 4 amigas bebiendo un refresco y un bocadillo en el Festival de Melocotones en Romeo, MI este verano pasado. Oil on 3/8" deep Hardboard 6" high x 6" wide Click here to place your bid. I found this lady at my local nursery last year a few days before Halloween . I was walking with Rufo (my 16 years old dog) and taking pictures for my works. I couldn't resist to snap this one... in fact I took a lot of pictures that day, while Rufo was laying down. What I really like about this scene was the light. The afternoon was so bright that no matter what color you were looking at it would turn absolute white because of the strong light. The reflection of the orange color of the pumpkins on the girls arm was something else that captured my attention even though her sweat shirt was gray.

Oil on 3/8" deep Hardboard6" high x 12" wideClick here to place your bid.Well I finally finished all the commissions I had. The last one a gorgeous 48" x 36" figurative painting I personally delivered to a customer from the UK who's living right here in Novi, MI, so I used this weekend to rest (oh! so merited rest!) to start back again my daily paintings which I completely neglected! so I'm finally back to paint my little ones until my next large commission. My next abstract exhibit which will be in the Miami Design District sometime in July, is getting close. Can't tell you how exited I am! I'll be able to tan (hopefully!) and see the sun! I so miss a beach and the sun, especially the sun! living here in Michigan is taking a toll on me and my old time beautiful golden tan which has vanished completely. So thinking on this and so looking forward to get there to see so many of my old friends I've found on facebook.com I looked for the pictures from you guessed it Miami Beach! and ...

Oil on 3/8" deep Hardboard12" high x 6" wideAs I was getting dinner ready the other night (in case you've missed it, I love to cook!) I got the asparagus lying in my table getting ready to finish the entrées and there they were, three asparagus almost hugging each other, and I thought to myself, you know in one of those moments you live a scene inside your mind especially when you are alone by yourself, "they look like los tres amigos". So tonight as I was painting them I couldn't resist and title the painting "los tres amigos"... always better than asparagus no. 1 ;o)This painting is available at auction, pleasefollow this link to bid* Questions? Oil on 3/8" deep Hardboard6" high x 6" wideThis little one is certainly my way back to daily painting after a long, long not wanted break. I've been having those nasty spinal injections for the neck injury I got for free last year after a car accident which have cost a fortune. A year of treatment, 4 doctors, tons of medication, patches, injections and spinal injections and I'm still in pain and unable to function like I used to. So, now that the second set of injections are wearing off I'm going back to painting in a more descent level of pain than the one with the injections.I found these guys in down town Detroit during winter time. I'm snapping pictures from one of the pathways above ground that connects two of the buildings right above the highway (kill me because I completely forgot how they are called!) It was after lunch break, so this business men are returning from lunch back to their offices. This painting available for purchase. Please click here to place your bid.* Q...

Oil on 3/4" deep Hardboard6" high x 6" wide Click here to bid $250.00 + s&hThis past weekend we had a friend from Spain visiting us. He stayed with us the whole weekend and of course what better opportunity to drink wine than with friends! so on Sunday night to celebrate we opened a bottle of red wine from Bordeaux. If you haven't tried a wine from Bordeaux, any wine, make sure to get a bottle, they have really, really good wines! So as the bottle was being opened my mind was flying back in time and I remembered our weekend in Bordeaux. After the night was over I set up a hunt to find the pictures from Bordeaux from one of my upcoming daily paintings. I remembered taking a picture from the balcony of our hotel room. This is certainly not one of my typical cityscapes, there are no trees! but I just fell in love with it. It brings back so many good memories! and the realization that I do miss Europe .... who wouldn't!?* Questions? Comments? Post them right here or email me* Subscribe...

Oil on 3/8" deep Hardboard6" high x 6" wide Click here to bid $250.00 + s&hMeet Rufo again. My 16 years old German brakko born in our house in Venezuela, South America. He and his mother traveled with us by airplane in 1999, that was a wonderful trip! This was the last time we took him for a walk, fall 2007. He's not going for long walks anymore, his back legs are not holding him up for long periods of time much less for a long walk like he was used to. Let's face it at 112 human years I bet you wouldn't go for long walks either. His spirit is intact and yes he still thinks he's a puppy! not mentioning his hunting spirit. He can't see a squirrel or rabbit without looking at it with the "I'm going to get you" eyes and posture, just like in this painting. He was looking at a small dog. He wasn't going to eat it, just wanted to play with it in case you wondered ;)* Questions? Comments? Post them right here or email me* Subscribe FREE to my Newsletter to receive the new painting ...

Oil on Gessoed Hardboard (Masonite)6" high x 6" wideClick here to bidToday a quickie. Basic shapes and easy brushwork, no detail at all. No more than 15 minutes (that gives you an idea of how fast my brushwork goes sometimes!). The background I wanted it to be purple for some weird reason I wanted to paint with purple today, but quite didn't like it. Afraid that I was going to ruin the apples I didn't wipe anything off, just grabbed prussian blue from my palette and mixed them together. I like the contrast. Dark shadows give drama to the whole scene, and that's exactly the light source I had.Painting is listed at my private auction site (click the above link to bid or register for free) for 48 hours only. Years ago, back in 2001 I wanted to participate in a photography contest, so I applied to this widely known website of photography www.picture.com. After a while I received a letter in the mail saying my photo was selected for the finals. Can't tell you how proud I fell. Although I was already taking very good pictures and selling them I never participated in a photography contest before so this was a good way to reassure me I was doing a pretty darn good job!Today looking for some information that I'm submitting to the Marquis Who's Who as I'll be included in their next publication Who's Who in American Women for 2009 (I'm already in this year's publication of the Who's Who in America) I came across the letter that I received from picture.com back in 2001. My first photography contest and I reached the finals with a picture of my parents which was published in their book for that year called "Nature's Palette" http://www.picture.com/display.asp?ID=845 214.
