2007-10-24 08:14:00 During the Tokyo Design Week, held in Japan from 31st October ? 4th November, 19 designers from Eindhoven, Amsterdam and Rotterdam will be presenting work that illustrates the strength of Dutch design. The exhibition ?No Windmills, Cheese or Tulips ? will be presented as a still life, like those familiar to us from the ?old masters?, putting contemporary design from the Netherlands on display in a classically Dutch way. Magazine covers
2007-10-23 09:48:00 "The Nation Magazine Cover Archive (NMCA) is a non-commercial 'hobbysite' devoted to helping keep inspirational magazine design alive. These are dark days for magazine design with homogenisation and closure of many well known (and loved) titles. Have you noticed how bland, safe and banal our newsstands have been looking lately? Is this what you want? Hey consumers, vote with your feet! Don't let quality magazines die." ? NMCA EditorThank you Luis for sharing! More About: Magazine Covers , Covers

2007-10-15 10:48:00 A cool movie by The Rumpus Room for the Pet Shop Boys. The video has over 100 QR Codes that are subliminal when watched in real time, but accessible to interact with if you navigate through the film using time controllers. Depopulated urban interiors
2007-10-08 09:10:00 Carl Hammoud?s oil on linen paintings are timeless, placeless views of surreal office spaces that seem to have just been ransacked and abandoned. Papers still fly, chairs tip, and light creeps across the composition in spaces curiously devoid of the text and logos now so integral to our urban landscape. Hammoud deftly paints the detritus of mindless office work, conveying a curious stillness?as though his worlds are outside the impact of time?leaving the viewer apprehensive at the source of the scenes? discord. Surreal
2007-10-03 08:17:00 Sometimes you just have to post not only the new, but also the old... This is one of my inspirators. The very fragile touch of colours; it is a poetic, metaphysical, highly personal body of work. I love it! Bernard Faucon More About: Surreal

Stand with the Burmese Protesters
2007-10-01 08:37:00 Burma is ruled by one of the worst military dictatorships in the world. This week Buddhist monks and nuns began marching and chanting prayers to call for democracy. The protests spread and hundreds of thousands of Burmese people joined in -- they've been brutally attacked by the military regime, but still the protests are spreading. I just signed a petition calling on Burma's powerful ally China and the UN security council to step in and pressure Burma's rulers to stop the killing. The petition has exploded to over 200,000 signatures in a few days and is being advertised in newspapers around the world, delivered to the UN secretary general, and broadcast to the Burmese people by radio. We're trying to get to 1 million signatures this week, please sign below and tell everyone!Sign the petition. More About: Protesters , Stand , Protester
