Cadillac Escalade: The Choice of Thieves!
2008-04-16 06:44:00 If you are wondering how a car thief selects his victim then this article is for you. What does a thief want? Well, of course, they will primarily be concerned with vehicles that are easy to steal. This goes for old vehicles with obsolete auto parts – particularly alarm systems. These are easy target. However the payoff is low. I think thieves will opt to risk dismantling a more modern car if it is worth the payoff. That is why I agree with KCRA news when they said “many [thieves] seek out vehicles that will allow them to ride in style” (2008). Case and point: The Cadillac Escalade. The culture of the millennium is all about hip-hop, urban, Justin Timberlake, etc, etc. No vehicle represents this better than the Cadillac Escalade. I love it! According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) an automobile is stolen in the United States every 25 seconds. In effect, this costs American consumers $8.6B annually. Yes, BILLION. After over a decade in the ... More About: Choice
Beck gets booked!
2008-04-10 08:48:00 We have all avidly followed David Beck ham’s migration to America. Everything from dinner dates with Victoria Beckham a.k.a. “Posh Spice” to rehabilitation footages of his ankle sprain has been covered by the media. Last Thursday, Beck proved that he ain’t the best in “taking corners” after all. The LA Galaxy forward took the wrong corner and earned himself a ticker from the Los Angeles Police Department. The English star, who recently got his 100th cap in Paris last month, was pulled over after taking a left turn in a right turn only intersection. Beckham, 32 was cruising in his Cadillac Escalade in the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue at West Hollywood. Beckham complied with all necessary sanctions of the violation, displaying his patience that has made him renowned in the soccer universe. The ticker was equivalent to £45. But the star remained calm. Then again, he is the world’s highest paid football player, grossing an unparalleled ...
The Latest Cadillac Escalade Review: a star-studded SUV
2008-04-08 02:25:00 The Cadillac Escalade has made a strong impression as the vehicle of choice for the Hollywood’s elite. The SUV has been embraced in hip-hop culture since its 1997 debut. Rappers saw this car as the vehicular equivalent of massive gold neck chains and medallions (“Bling, bling”). While these hip hop stars have rarely confessed environmental concerns, the recent spikes in fuel prices have definitely affected some SUV owners. “Sales have taken a steep dive” confesses Jim Gorzelany of AOL auto, he continues, “Escalade sales plummeted 49 percent in October 2005 and were off by 13 percent through the first ten months of the year. General Motors is hoping a fresh fleet of full-size sport utility vehicles that it's rushing to market (it was last revised for 2002), combined with a retreat in fuel prices, will help invigorate that segment's sales slump and the Escalade's fortunes.” Cadillac has made a conscious effort to reconcile these losses by enhancing the car par... Kenan Thompson in a close encounter of a Potty kind
2008-04-01 07:34:00 We all know Kenan Thompson from his adolescent years in Nickelodeon’s Kenan & Kel. He also starred in a movie for the Kid network. Recently, his successes have included starring roles in the movie Fat Albert and the renowned improvisation comedy show Saturday Night Live. However, more recently the star was involved in a much controversial predicament. Last week, Kenan Thompson was reported by an anonymous citizen to the cops when he was seen erratically driving a white Cadillac Escalade. When an officer pulled the SUV over, he detected the odor of burnt marijuana. The cop questioned to whom the vehicle belonged. At which point, Kenan’s friend Kyle Mosley surrendered a pack of marijuana. The cops searched the car parts. The Smoking Gun reports, “A subsequent police search recovered two small baggies of marijuana and a pack of rolling papers in Mosley's pockets. The 39-year-old Long Beach, N.Y. resident claimed ‘sole ownership’ of the pot, said Lt. Stephen Elder ... More About: Close , Encounter
Drive like the Godfather!
2008-03-27 06:26:00 For all you TV series addicts out there, you’ve probably encountered the HBO TV series hit The Sopranos. The series revolves around a dysfunctional mafia family. It’s a fresh look at how we view mafia characters, it shows weakness and daily travails that you wouldn’t think mafia families encounter. Recently, automobiles from the TV series were auctioned off at West Palm Beach. Over 600 celebrity automobiles were on sale. Net proceeds were donated to the children’s hospital at Los Angeles. The auction was headlined by the signature piece from The Sopranos series: the white, 2003 Cadillac Escalade driven by mob boss Tony Soprano. The car features standard car parts of any 2003 Escalade, except it gives additional “mafia” appeal. Other vehicles include the champagne 2003 Cadillac CTS used by Paulie Walnuts, a red 1997 Mercury Villager minivan driven by Tony and Paulie and a black Cadillac Deville driven by crew member Vito Spatafore. Of course, it was not like bu... More About: Drive , The Godfather
Britney’s Escalade Escape
2008-03-17 05:11:00 If you think Britney Spears has been taking a hiatus from controversy. Think again. Last weekend, Britney, or “Brit” as they call her, was disposing $1500 worth of shopping money. Last Friday afternoon she was spotted at the Beverly Center, browsing through a cheap selection from Forever 21 and Claire’s accessories. When she saw the paparazzi, Brit apparently ran for the back door at the shopping center. Minutes later, Brit was seen in her black Escalade escaping the media. Sources claim that Brit’s Escalade ran a red light. She got pulled over by the cops. At which point, E-online narrates, one of Brit's bodyguards opened a car door and shouted out to the officer, "Sir, it's going to be a mess, you sure you want to stop us?" The cop looked behind the Escalade and saw a barrage of reporters trailing the Escalade. The cop let her off with a warning. Brit has had her fair share of happy-endings as of late (In her own Brit kind-of-way). Oops. She did it aga... More About: Escape
The Cadillac Escalade Ranks #1
2008-03-12 02:01:00 Based on a poll that included 52 leading automotive reviews and test drives, the 2008 Cadillac Escalade ranks number one among nine in large luxury Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs). The SUV has received a tremendous amount of praise from the media. The Detroit free press calls the Escalade, “the sexiest full-size SUV on the market,” and adds “it hits a bull’s eye in such important areas as horsepower and cabin design.” The New York Times maintained that the Escalade “rides on a stronger and stiffer chassis and affords added sophistication, comfort and performance.” Car and Driver magazine commented, “If you like your bling on a grand scale, it doesn’t get much grander than this.” In addition to this, the Cadillac Escalade has also received numerous awards of recognition. The Naked Cowboy Rides in Style
2008-03-08 02:02:00 Before we go further, visit this Discount Auto Parts store first.Seen it?If you’ve ever been to Times Square, chances are you took a souvenir picture of this guy. In the strictest sense, the naked cowboy is neither “naked” nor a real cowboy. His guitar is strategically placed to hide his privates and he sports a brief that has “Naked Cowboy ” displayed on the back side. His hometown is Cincinnati, which is not known for pistol fights, spurs or drinking in dirty glasses. In reality, the “Naked Cowboy” is Robert Burck. He is the muscular blonde dude who strums and sings on the sidewalks of Times Square. He is a tourist attraction in his own right. Tourists flock towards Robert, slip a dollar bill on the tip of his guitar and they get a snap shot and a song. Recently Robert Burck a.k.a. “Naked Cowboy” filed a lawsuit against the Mars Corporation (Yes, the candy bar maker). Burck is demanding more than $6 million dollars on the grounds of trademark infringemen... More About: Style , In Style
The 2008 Cadillac Escalade
2008-03-04 10:17:00 The 2009 hybrid Cadillac Escalade was not the only SUV that made its debut in this year’s South Florida International Auto Show. Cadillac also exhibited its new version of the luxury SUV – the 2008 Cadillac Escalade Platinum. The 2008 Cadillac Escalade Platinum has been made to take the SUV’s performance to more ambitious heights. Here is a brief rundown of the 2008 Cadillac Escalade Platinum’s additional features: Magnetic Ride Control (MRC) This is also used for other Cadillac models (XLR, Corvette). It provides additional suspension. The 2008 Cadillac Escalade Platinum will have better handle and stability. Furthermore, it will adapt quicker to different road conditions. Cadillac Escalade: Aaron Carter's Secret Stash
2008-02-28 10:16:00 Former teen heartthrob Aaron Carter, the younger brother of Nick Carter, was pulled over for speeding at Kimble County, Texas last Thursday. When the authorities decided to inspect his Cadillac Escalade, they found two ounces of marijuana stashed in the vehicle. The young Aaron Carter spent the night in jail waiting for his arraignment the following morning. With the sudden onslaught of rising fuel prices and greenhouse gas emissions, the Cadillac Escalade has received negative feed back from world media. Aaron Carter’s marijuana episode will only add to this. However, celebrities still prefer to cruise in the Cadillac Escalade. For an extra amount of money, celebrities can buy accessories and these "pimped out" Car Parts that will improve fuel consumption and reduce greenhouse gas emission. The Cadillac Escalade has embedded itself in the hip-hop culture of today’s times. In fact, it is ranked as the second preferred SUV of celebrities. Among the celebrities that own a Ca... Britney Spears Wed Married Boyrfriend?
2008-01-11 03:23:00 Nope, there is no grammatical error in the title. As it has been made known by the media, Britney Spears ’ current boyfriend Adnan Ghalib is still married to—albeit estranged from—wife Azlynn Berry. Now, after deftly leading paparazzi into a wild goose chase in Maui, rumors are circling about that Britney Spears eloped with Adnan in Mexico. In celebrity “occasions” such as these, the Cadillac Escalade seems to be the luxury vehicle of choice. For example, reports have it that Jennifer Aniston took ‘Sex in the City’ star Jason Lewis along with her in her annual winter jaunt with the Cox-Arquette family to a luxury resort along the Sea of Cortez, and that all of them were picked up from the Los Cabos airport by a white Escalade. As for Britney Spears and Adnan Ghalib, they reportedly arrived at the Rosarito Beach Hotel in an Escalade as well, although this time, it was black. More than merely going for rest and recreation, a Mexican newspaper purports that the two... More About: Married
White Escalade Fetches Jen and New Man
2008-01-03 07:03:00 Just like how it has been for the past four winters, Jennifer Aniston tagged along Courteney Cox and her family to their vacation spot in Los Cabos, Mexico. Unlike four winters ago (when Jen first went there to visit then-hubbie Brad Pitt who was filming Troy), however, Jen apparently has a new man in tow. According to an exclusive scoop from OK! Magazine, Jen, her mystery man, and the Cox-Arquettes jetted off from Bob Hope Airport at around 10:30 a.m. and arrived at Los Cabos at “about 2:00 p.m. local time” as per an eyewitness. “Jen and Courteney looked really happy to be back in Los Cabos.” In nothing less than five-star treatment, their resort sent a chauffer-driven white Cadillac Escalade to greet the gang and pick them up outside the terminal. Half-an-hour later, they were seen wining and dining at the balcony of their rented beach home overlooking the mesmerizing expanse of the Sea of Cortez. Who is the A-lister’s mystery man? A Friendly Reminder: Leggo the Analog, Y’all
2007-12-27 09:09:00 Early this year (January, to be more precise), GM announced that its OnStar services will be shutting down its analog network by December 31, 2007, in compliance with a Federal Communications Commission ruling. This means that owners of older Escalade models who are OnStar subscribers will lose their analog connection to services that track their cars if they’re stolen or help Good Samaritan rap stars receive faster police and medical response during roadside emergencies. By January 1, 2008, OnStar services in the US and Canada will only be available via digital cellular networks. Therefore, unless you’re a gangsta who wants to hide from digital eyes, go to OnStar.com or click here to see how your ownership of an earlier Escalade model will be affected by the transition. Akon, his black Escalade, and his case
2007-12-05 15:37:00 Last Monday, word has it that Akon , a 34 year old rap superstar, pleaded not guilty for tossing an underage fan off the stage during his show at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, New York. He now faces charges of endangering the welfare of a minor as well as for harassment. Akon appeared early for his hearing at the Fishkill Police Office. And why am I writing about this? Well, he came on his black Escalade and word has it that in the succeeding hearings, Akon will not be expected to appear in person. The court said that he could be represented by his attorney, Benjamin Brafman. There are rumors that the kid that Akon pushed accidentally hit on the head of a woman, who suffered a concussion. On the other hand, Brafman issued a statement that goes: “It was never Akon’s intention to violate the law. This unfortunate incident was a spontaneous reaction during a live concert that Akon deeply regrets.” More About: Black , Case
New headlamps for the Cadillac Escalade Platinum
2007-12-02 03:35:00 Yes, the Escalade Platinum has new headlamps. These LED headlamps were developed by Hella by means of various transmissive optical elements. What sets these headlamps apart from the rest is that it is the first to use free-form glass protection lenses. It is uniquely designed so as to have the capacity to evenly distribute light on the road. These headlamps contain seven glass lenses. The low beam has five optical units were arranged vertically and found on the outer edge of the vehicle. What the free-form glass lenses do is to allow for symmetrical basic light distribution. It produces and provides for better illumination. Another feature of these headlamps is that it has the capacity to dim during daytime as not so much light is needed at those times. The Escalade Hybrid at the Los Angeles Auto Show
2007-11-25 06:48:00 As expected, the 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid made an appearance at the Los Angeles Auto Show . The said vehicle is a hybrid version of this Escalade blog writer’s beloved Caddy. It is an answer to the heed for vehicles that are more undamaging to the environment. It makes use of a unique engine that can drive the Caddy on pure electric power when driving on the city. However, when driving on road conditions that are not as smooth as that of the city’s, the Hybrid makes use of its fuel engine. It provides additional boost in the vehicle’s power as needed. Together, the electric and fuel consumption of the Hybrid can produce up to 332 horsepower and 167 lb-ft. At the Los Angeles Auto Show, the Escalade Hybrid intrigued the people. It features an Active Fuel Management as well as the EVT of also known as the Electrically Variable Transmission, and the continuous-variable operation for low-load driving (works kindda like the CVT). The Hybrid will be out in the market come summer ...
Expectations on the Hybrid Caddy
2007-11-22 06:42:00 The 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid has yet to receive its EPA fuel economy numbers. However this is the case, a number of people are expecting that it won’t measure as good as the Tahoe Hybrid’s. This is said to be due to the higher curb weight of the Escalade as well that measures around 150 pounds or more. Aside from this, the not quite aerodynamic shape of the Escalade can also be a factor. It has 0.36 drag while the Chevy Tahoe Hybrid has only 0.34. An Escalade typically can run for 12 mpg on the city and 18-19 mpg when on the highway. The people in Cadillac are not expecting to sell too many of the Escalade Hybrid. They are not expecting sales on the hundreds either. The prediction ranges in selling thousands of these Hybrids per year. This prediction was taken from the previous year sales of the Escalade where 60,000 of it were sold. More About: Caddy , Expectations
The Hybrid’s Power
2007-11-18 06:41:00 As looks is not the only thing that matters to a vehicle, let’s take a look on the 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid’s engine. It has a 332-horsepower 6.0 liter V8 that took the place of the once 403-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 of a typical Cadillac Escalade. As with other hybrids like the Tahoe and the Yukon, the Escalade Hybrid utilizes an electronically variable transmission, which means that it is able to pack two electric motors into its case. What the electric motors do is to help boost engine power, return some of the electrical power to the battery pack by means of regenerative braking. Aside from this, it also presents a motive force for the truck if under low-speed or light-load conditions. In order to attain improvements in fuel economy, the gas engine of the Escalade Hybrid makes use of a cylinder-deactivation system that shut downs four of the cylinders when under light load conditions. This will subsequently save on fuel as only the necessary cylinders are made to func... More About: Power
H to HYBRID
2007-11-14 06:37:00 The 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid came from the General Motors Department of Apparent Oxymorons or the also known as DAO. The DAO has been known for its innovations on the Malibu SS as well as on the Cadillac Cimarron. With its latest creation, the 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid, DAO makes use of a two-mode gas-electric hybrid powertrain. Now this powertrain will also be featured on the soon to come 2008 Chevy Tahoe and the GMC Yukon. This impressive powertrain of the 2009 Escalade Hybrid as well as the 22-inch chrome-clad wheels come as a standard for standard-length Escalades. The wheels though, are optional for those who own a gas-only Escalade. As Cadillac believes that “Hybrid owners like to demonstrate that they are hybrid owners,” GM’s green logo appears twice on each of the vehicle’s side. It appears once on the C-pillar and also once on the fender bent. Although this is the case, if the owner prefers an even more apparent sign, Cadillac is willing to make use of t...
The 2008 Cadillac Escalade in China
2007-11-10 05:56:00 News has it that the Shanghai General Motors or the Shanghai GM has released a statement that the 2008 Cadillac Escalade is already available in China . I wonder how the Chinese people will find the 2008 Escalade. It was said that the second generation Cadillac Escalade were on the Chinese market since July. Since then, 350 units have already been sold. Apart from this, new orders for the vehicle have been increasing incessantly. This is all according to the statement given by Shanghai GM. The 2008 Cadillac Escalade will be the third generation of Escalade vehicles that exists. It is priced at 1.12 million yuan or roughly $149,843 when converted to dollar. As the 2008 Escalade features more personalized equipments than those that came before it, one can expect that buyers of this vehicle will have more options to express themselves with the use of the Cadillac Escalade. Apart from this, the third generation also features refinements from the previous models of the Escalade that s... More About: Dill
The Escalade as a Word
2007-11-08 05:49:00 The term Escalade came from the phrase “scaling the walls.” This is a method adopted by the invaders of Geneva back in 1602. Back then, Geneva was invaded by “scaling the walls of its city.” Hence, the term Geneva’s Escalade. It does not have apparent connection to my beloved Cadillac Escalade save for it makes use of the word “escalade” and it enriches our knowledge on the implications of the term. As for those who will be spending the holidays in Europe, here is something that might be of interest to you. There’s a known hotel in Europe, the Hotel d’Angleterre. It can be found in Geneva and the said hotel is tagged as the “finest and friendliest hotel in Europe.” I seemed like a real cozy place to be. A service-oriented hotel that seeks to provide their guests with precisely what they need. They said early December is a good time to visit the place. This is because the people in Geneva remember the times when they were able to repel the troops of the Duke... More About: Word
Paris and the Escalade
2007-10-31 17:27:00 Paris has yet another episode with her Cadillac Esca lade. A few months back, this young lady has been caught driving under the influence of alcohol. She got sentenced to jail and after a while, is able to ride on her Escalade again. Recently, she was shopping for lingerie when a paparazzo backed into her Escalade. No one was injured. But I wonder what's with paparazzos and their over the edge attempts to have a good shot of celebrities. Some of them, like the late Princess Diana has already died because of them. I hope they'd be more considerate for if they end up killing the star they want to have a photo of, they wouldn't be able to have any more of it. More About: Paris
The Escalade's Third Quarter Earnings
2007-10-31 06:25:00 Before the year ends, good news come for the Cadillac Esca lade. As for its third quarter earnings, the Escalade Incorporated was pleased to announce that there was an increase of 4.6%. Last year, there was a 7.5% decline in the third quarter earnings so this year proves to be really good for the Escalade. It seems that more people are renewing their interest in the vehicle. I cannot blame them. Especially with the coming 2008 Cadillac Escalade, the sales will most probably have a considerable rise. More About: Earnings , Quarter , Earning , Third
Bob Dylan's Cadillac TVC
2007-10-26 09:06:00 I just saw the video of Bob Dylan’s Cadillac TV commercial and the memory of his Summer Days rings to mind. He sings “I’m drivin’ in the flats in a Cadillac car…” In the TVC, Dylan appears in a cowboy hat, shades and drives a 2008 black Escalade at California’s Antelope Valley. The first line Dylan utters in that ad is this: “What’s life without taking a detour?” followed by a plug of the XM satellite radio that will come as a standard feature for the 2008 Cadillac Escalade. The ad will be shown at the local television really soon. More About: Dill
From Green to Greener
2007-10-19 02:27:00 Automakers are seeking ways and ways to improve their vehicles—to make it greener. Ford was able to produce vehicles that are friendly to the environment. Some say that it is so clean that it’s tagged as “partial zero-emission vehicle” that is also known as the PZEN. On the average, it can run 75 percent cleaner than most vehicles. The Cadillac Escalade 2008 edition is said to also be environment friendly. I wonder how it will stand next to Ford’s PZEN. More About: Green
Music and the Cadillac Escalade
2007-10-14 02:24:00 Recently, the R&B singer Mya had an accident on her Cadillac Esca lade. Now I was rather shocked when I heard the news especially because my daughter listens to her music most of the time. But I was glad to know that nothing grave happened to Mya. It was a minor accident that only involved a fender bender. And according to a witness, Mya patiently for the police to arrive and even exchanged numbers with the one involved in the said car crash. That’s good to know. Aside from great music, she has a good personality as well. Perfect role model for my daughter. More About: Music , Dill
The 2008 Cadillac Escalade’s Invisible Backseat Driver
2007-10-11 02:23:00 I read somewhere that Cadillac Esca lade will be releasing its latest edition next year. Good thing it’s nearing the end of 2007. It would be just a matter of months before the new vehicle will be released. As for the features of the 2008 Escalade, it has General Motors’ two-mode system (meaning that it is a hybrid) and a turn-by-turn navigation system (thanks to GM’s OnStar communications system) among others. The turn-by-turn navigation system enables the driver to verbally say his/her destination and verbally get directions on how to go there. Now that is really something. It’s like having a backseat driver even when one is driving alone. More About: Driver , Invisible , Visible
This Happened to an Escalade, Maybe even to your Car
2007-10-05 09:45:00 In the recent article I read from cbs4.com, it appears that looters have their eyes on robbing vehicles—not necessarily when the owner is far away from them—but as the owners are busy pumping gas on the vehicle. It is really disturbing. It seems that robbery has now become a profession for others that they have become efficiently good at it. It takes them just only a matter of seconds. The people at cbs4 even joked that the robbery happens even before one can sigh at the realization of how high gas prices are nowadays. If you want to see how fast these looters rob a vehicle, here is a video I saw at cbs4.com that was able to capture how a thief robbed a woman’s Esca lade while she was pumping gas into it. In the end, the thief got away with a $3000 worth watch. So come on, go watch how it happened and be extra careful when you leave your car at the gas station.
On Deliberately Crashing the Escalade
More articles from this author:2007-10-02 03:57:00 I was so shocked and scandalized upon reading an article on a guy who is said to have attempted to murder his children in a car crash. The guy, a 30 year old Javier Terrones drove his Cadillac Esca lade at high speed veering off Interstate 15 and crashing the Escalade. The said crash killed his 4 year old son and considerably injured his daughter. The death and injuries were primarily due to Terrones’ advice to her daughter not to fasten her and her brother’s seatbelt. Terrones’ defended himself by saying that he apparently lost control of his vehicle and that the crash was an accident. However, a deputy who checked the data recorder installed in the SUV found out that there was nothing wrong with the Escalade when it crashed. The evidence leads to Terrones’ deliberate attempt to crash the Escalade. Why this is the case, I dunno yet. I’ll probably look in to the details of this case as well for as a father myself, I could not believe someone tries to do this to his kids. ... More About: Deli 1, 2, 3 |
