Two mountain road racers, Nakazato and Takahashi, challenged each other to find the best racers, and defeat them in "battles". Nakazato was surprisingly defeated by an old Toyota Trueno AE86 (Corolla in the US) one night, and he searched for the person who defeated him, which lead him to the Speedstars, a local team. But the car who beat him was actually driven by a local Tofu shop owner's son, Takumi Fujiwara, who had unknowingly perfected the art of mountain racing through daily deliveries of tofu. Takumi was able to defeat Nakazato again, showing that he is no fluke. However, winning hasn't helped him home life, as his father, Bunta Fujiwara, was a drunkard (and a racing genius). Fiat 500 Mini Car May come to US

According to an article in Automotive News, Fiat is considering exporting the new 500 microcar to the States sometime next decade.But instead of getting the rather moribund city car version, we're likely to be blessed with the Abarth 500, complete with a turbocharged 1.4-liter inline four. AN pegs output at 120 HP (or 135 HP depending on which article you read), but since the 500 plans to go head-to-head with the MINI, other reports have suggested that the lil' blown motor will be making upwards of 150 HP.The launch of the Fiat will come soon after Alfa Romeo reestablishes itself in the U.S. in 2009, as the two dealers will coincide with each other, mainly in larger, urban areas.

GM says China engine plant to start output in August

General Motors said today its $263 million (2 billion yuan) engine plant in south China will begin production in August .SAIC-GM-Wuling, GM's joint venture with Shanghai Automotive Co. and Liuzhou Wuling Automobile, has been outsourcing engines for its minivans and mini-trucks.The new facility, scheduled to begin making 1.1 liter and 1.2 liter engines next month, will allow shorter development times for new products, the U.S. automaker said in a statement.SAIC-GM-Wuling, which sold 420,140 minivans and mini-trucks in China last year, expects to increase sales by more than one-fifth in 2007, vice president Thomas Drumgoole said in April.

Car insurance costs are slightly lower after a record high.The typical motorist saw the cost of car insurance fall slightly in the first months of this year after a record high at the end of 2006, figures today revealed.The AA Insurance Premium Index showed that the average quoted premium for an annual comprehensive car insurance policy in the first quarter of 2007 was £802, just £4 less than the all-time high.It follows a 4.35 per cent hike witnessed in the last quarter of 2006 which saw annual premiums reach nearly £806.Premiums in the first quarter of this year were running at around 5.8 per cent higher than for the same period in 2006.Third partyThe average annual premium paid by those who buy third party, fire and theft cover also fell quarter-on-quarter, from £999.45 to £993.28.Kevin Sinclair, managing director of AA Insurance, said: 'I had expected premiums to continue rising and I think the underlying pressure is still upwards.'Most insurers continued to apply small increa...

Now that the car is free from the annoying black-and-white checkered camouflage, the extent of the changes over the Audi S6 are now clearly visible. The LED light strips on the S6?s front bumper have been removed on this RS6. New front air-intakes are larger, and they wrap around the front bumper allowing for some integrated brake cooling ducts up front. The front intakes are highlighted by low flares which continue along the side, between the wheels, making for a more aggressive stance.The rear bumper has been reworked significantly. Large single exhaust pipes replace the S6?s dual-tip design, and an aggressive rear diffuser dominates the rear bumper. Visual differences aside, the real story is in the RS6?s performance potential. The coming weekend is the biggest worldwide get-together of MINI cars known as MINI United. MINI cars old and new, modified and stock will be partying at the Dutch racetrack at Zandvoort. The event in 2005 held in Misano, Italy had 6000 MINI fans from 40 countries in attendance. MINI management has decided to also take advantage of the site location in Zandvoort to show the new MINI Clubman model to its MINI public relations representatives from around the world.
