Ford is reportedly pushing back the launch of its important Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX crossover utility vehicles to iron out supplier and assembly problems at the refurbished Oakville, Ontario, factory where the two are built.Joe Hinrichs, Ford vice president for North American manufacturing, confirmed that the Edge and MKX are now scheduled to arrive at dealerships about mid-December instead of late November. Ford told its dealers about the delay Wednesday afternoon.Hinrichs attributed the delay to some component suppliers which haven't been able to deliver parts on time, and to some stations on the assembly line that haven't been able to finish their assigned tasks in the allotted time. Ford sales increase in October

Finally a bit of good news.Ford today reported a sales increase of 8 percent for the month of October 2006. Sale s at Mercury were down 5.9 percent, sales at Lincoln were up 3.4 percent, sales at Jaguar were down 22.3 percent, Volvo down 3.3 percent, and Land Rover up 6.7 percent.On the other hand General Motors sold 301,317 new vehicles ? an increase of 22 percent over October 2005. GMC, Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, Saturn, Pontiac and Saab all had retail sales increases in October.Chrysler Group reported sales for October 2006 of 159,586 units, an increase of 1 percent. Sales at Jeep were up 29 percent and Dodge rose 17 percent, but Chrysler brand sales fell 16 percent. Sister company Mercedes posted a 12.3 percent increase.Need new Ford wiper blades?
