Mazda3 MPS Extreme Shocking At 2007 Sydney Motor Show

Mazda Motor Corp.  has today unveiled the third in its series of extreme cars, a modified version of the high-performance Mazda3 Mazda Performance Series (MPS), at the 2007 Sydney Motorshow. Modified by Mazda Australia Motorsport Manager, Allan Horsley, this extreme makeover involves a recalculation to the car’s Powertrain Control Module (PCM), allowing its standard 2.3-litre DISI turbo engine to generate a massive 210kW of power at 5300rpm and 425Nm of torque at 4400rpm. Other modifications to the Mazda3 MPS include a free-flowing two-inch exhaust system and a sports muffler that will give this extreme car a suitability throaty exhaust note. Volkswagen has just made its new VW Touareg R50 world premiere  at the 2007 Australian International Motor Show . Developed by a team of specialists at Volkswagen Individual GmbH, the Volkswagen Touareg R50 is one of the most powerful SUVs in the world. While Volkswagen has yet to announce detailed specifications, it promises the R50 boasts “generous” increases on the 230kW of power and 750Nm of torque produced by the current V10 TDi model on which it is based.   Bigger wheels and tyres and tweaked suspension complete the high-performance package. General Motors Corp. Adds New Cash Incentives

General Motors Corp. reported to add more new cash incentives on its large Pickups and SUVs for October following its second-straight month of sales gains. The offers of $1,000 cash rebates on such vehicles as the 2007 and 2008 Chevrolet Silverado large Pickup and GMC Envoy SUV began Tuesday and run through the end of the month, said GM spokesman John McDonald. GM has sought to lift profit by scaling back on costly incentives this year. Cash rebates and zero-percent loans last month helped it boost truck sales by 3.5%, while the industry had a 2.4% truck decline. “We are trying to introduce customers to some of our new 2008 models and continue our sales success,” McDonald said. GM also extended through Oct. 31 its offer of zero-percent financing for up to five years on some SUVs and large pickups, McDonald said. The result of latest round EURO NCAP crash safety test come out, Ford ’s new Mondeo, VW’s Tiguan, are the top five star of this crash safety test. Hyundai’s new i-30 hatch, Ford’s Mondeo and the Volkswagen Caddy ‘Life’ and VW Tiguan SUV all going under the microscope of this Euro NCAP crash safety test. Toyota’s Lexus May Add More Powerful Hybrids

Toyota Motor Corp’s Lexus , the top-selling luxury brand in the U.S., is planning to build more high-performance gas-electric hybrid models to reach newer customers, who want some sporty vehicles while being environmentally friendly. Lexus may build such gasoline-electric models to reach “enthusiast groups” outside its core market, General Manager Jim Farley of Lexus said this week. More-powerful Lexus hybrid models may help Toyota extend its hybrid dominance in the United States, with 78 percent of the market. Suppliers are the lifeblood of the auto industry and automakers, automakers can do little without the parts produced by supplier partners. The workers of Ford’s Dearborn truck plant were told not to return work until Thursday, which would leave Ford with about two days of lost production of its best-selling vehicle. Ford’s Kansas City assembly plant has also been affected by the parts problem. Following the Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen is going to offer a hybrid option on its entire future lineup including both mild and full hybrid systems. In addition to its hybrid onslaught, VW also plans to expand its range of ultra-efficient BlueMotion diesels and could one day have it as an option for its full lineup as well. There’s even talk of an all-electric vehicle based on the recently revealed up! minicar concept. The news comes from VW’s product development Chief Ulrich Hackenberg, who spoke recently with Auto mobilwoche. Sept. 20 (Bloomberg) — Toyota Motor Corp., Honda Motor Co. and other automakers will unveil a total of 37 car models at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show , aiming to stem drop in sales in the world’s third-largest auto market. The number of world-premiere vehicles was released in a statement by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association today. Japanese carmakers plan to use the exhibition to stimulate auto demand in their home market, where sales slumped for 17 months through August.   Word from inside the pages of an unnamed Japanese auto mag is that this Mazda ’s concept-inspired rotary coupe car will debut on the Mazda stand at this year’s 2007 Tokyo Motor Show next month. The coupe is obviously inspired by the trio of concepts that Mazda debuted on the auto show circuit last year: the Nagare, Ryuga and Kabura concepts. While we don’t know if these pics are official from Mazda or merely renderings produced by the magazine, we can tell you that at least the head on shot is a touched up version of a Kabura sketch. In fact, the entire car looks mostly like a production version of the Kabura Concept, though it features cues from all three concepts. While controversy reigned briefly last week at the China Automobile stand, Brilliance , the other Chinese auto maker at the 2007 Frankfurt motor show, quietly continued to tick all the right boxes. Following a well-received launch at Geneva in March, Brilliance has now started selling cars in Europe and launched a fourth new model, the BS2, at Frankfurt. The company has also overcome its first setback - a poor showing in crash testing for its first model, the BS6 sedan. This gained only one EuroNCAP star but Brilliance has rectified the situation by ordering a rapid redesign. Aimed at younger drivers and based on a production chassis, the Mixim concept weighs 950kg and features some design features normally associated with supercars. Mercedes-Benz standhybrid cars on2007 Frankfurt Motor Show . Mercedes-Benz is also presenting a further CO2 world champion in its class at the IAA (62th 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show ) : the Mercedes-Benz ML 450 HYBRID, which will come onto the market in 2009 as the world’s most economical SUV petrol hybrid in its class.   Its innovative two-mode hybrid system means it can be driven with just the electric engine; and the vehicle meets the highest expectations in terms of comfort. The V6 petrol engine produces 205 kW/279 hp and 338 Newton metres of torque, while the two-mode hybrid module with two electric motors, develops 45 kW/61 hp. The end result is a combined system output of 236 kW/321 hp and a combined maximum torque of 480 Newton metres – supreme performance that comes with a fuel consumption of just 7.7 litres per 100 kilometres. Audi A1 coming to Tokyo Motor Show 2007?

The Audi A1, which will come in coupe and speedster forms as pictured bottom, is predicted to make its first public appearance at the 40th Tokyo Motor Show 2007, later this year. Furthermore, it is expected that the model on display will be a hybrid. According to Auto Motor und Sport, Audi wants to move between 80,000 and 100,000 A1’s per year, with the base A1 available for under 20,000 euros. The purpose of the A1 is to steal customers from BMW’s MINI by being sportier and more masculine.
