IRS Updates; Hybrid Car Tax Credits Following Industry Audit
2006-12-05 21:21:03 IRS Updates: Hybrid Tax Credit s Following Industry Audi tEzine Author: Richard ChapoThe Energy Act of 2005 created major tax credit incentives for people purchasing hybrid vehicles. The IRS has recently concluded the quarterly review of manufacturers and issued tax credit status.IRS Updates Hybrid Tax Credits Following Industry AuditAs part of the Energy Act of 2005, the federal government took a major step towards promoting the use of hybrid vehicles. In simple terms, it converted the tax deduction for purchasing a hybrid vehicle into a tax credit. This change was remarkable because a tax credit is very valuable because it is a reduction from the actual amount of tax you owe, not your gross income. Given the fact the tax credit could be over $3,000 for some models, this was a major boon for hybrid car sales!Alas, the hybrid tax credits were not set in concrete in the tax code. Instead, they are known as phase out credits. In this case, the amount of the tax credit is first set by th...
Save Money On Car Repairs
2006-12-04 09:20:01 One of the most costly things about repairing a car is finding the problem. Most cars have a computer that will set a code and activate a Check Engine light to let you know there is a problem. When you take your car to a mechanic to get the problem diagnosed, an $80 diagnostic fee is pretty common. If there were no charge for diagnostics, most would find the problem and take it to a shadetree mechanic to get it fixed. But, try this handy device that Reads and erases DTCs and turns off check engine light. Enables you to quickly and easily link to your vehicle and diagnose the problem. Compact tool fits in the palm of your hand. It is updateable, accommodating future vehicles. This would be a great gift for anyone and pays for itself with the first use. Reader includes a one-year limited warranty. More About: Money , Save Money , Save , Pair , Repair
15 Ways To Lower Your Car Insurance
2006-12-04 03:19:17 15 Ways To Lowe r Your Car Insurance Andrew Bowen1.Shop aroundThe difference in price between various companies can be significant. What one company may consider a high risk factor another company may not view as so important. Insurance companies arrive at a price for your Car Insurance by adding or discounting money after each answer you give to the questions they ask you. Each company has its own rules as to what they consider should increase or decrease your premium. By shopping around you get a better list of prices to compare.2.Buy a lower group carOne of the important factors that insurance companies take into account is of course your vehicle. There are thousands of different cars on the road so companies divide them up into groups. Most companies will adopt the ABI (Association of British Insurers) group rating. This splits up vehicles into 20 different groups. Generally speaking the higher the group rating for your vehicle, the higher your premium will be. Some companies may ...
New Corvette ZO6; An Alternative To Typical Fuel Efficient C
2006-12-03 15:18:01 New Corvette Z06: An Alter native to Typical Fuel Efficiency Cars by Neil LemonsThe Detroit News Online's Auto Insider reported that the Corvette Z06s fuel efficiency may rival the Honda Civic Hybrid in an editorial story written last week. With gas as high as three dollars a gallon, American consumers are looking for alternative car makes and models that will guzzle less gas. Some may be looking for less voracious fuel connoisseurs to replace the his and her matching 10 miles per gallon Hummers and Lexus SUVs. Others may be considering different cars to lessen the overtaxing of the world's natural resources and pollution of the environment. Most consumers have good intentions, but are unlikely to sacrifice prestige and style for economy and practicality. It's not the American way. When speaking on the subject of fuel efficient cars, people equate economical value or perceived value, of the car itself with fuel efficiency. These two subjects are not mutually exclusive.Consumer Repo... More About: Native

Mythbuster Truck Fuel Effeciency Test
2006-11-27 18:54:02 Adam and Jamie from Mythbusters, a popular Discovery Channel show, tested different configurations for trucks to get the best fuel effeciency. They tested with the tailgate up and tailgate down, no tailgate, a hard top cover for the truck bed, and a mesh tailgate. They used a flow meter attached to the fuel pump to see which configuration gave a truck the best fuel economy. The best fuel economy out of the mix was with a mesh tailgate cover. Probably due to the lighter weight received approximately 5 percent better fuel economy. The worst out of all was with the tailgate down. So if you do not want to remove your tailgate to attach a mesh cover over the back, keep your Truck Tailgate closed. Thanks Mythbusters. More About: Fuel , Buster , Bust , Test
Car Safety Ratings: What Do They Mean?
2006-11-24 06:45:02 Car Safety Ratings : What Do They Mean?By Andrew Dillan Every car commercial tells you that their car has a five-star safety rating. Does this score really mean anything? What tests are being performed and who does the measuring? The Organizations In the United States, there are two organizations that score cars on safety ratings, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The NHTSA is run by the Department of Transportation and is sometimes called the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) or the government five star rating. Frontal Collision Ratings The NHTSA gets its data by running a car directly into a wall at 35 mph. The IIHS does a different test, where the impact is offset, and not directly in the middle. The IIHS test does a better job of mimicking real-life accidents. While most cars do well in directly head-on collisions, most real-life collisions are offset. The NHTSA scores with five stars. Fi... How To Do Car Window Tinting
2006-11-19 18:33:02 How to Do Wind ow Tintin gBy Lance Winslow Window Tinting BMPs Best Management Practices and Procedures. Every auto detailer who lives in works south of the Mason Dixon line or in a large metro area has asked themselves; should I offer window tinting to my customers? Every wholesale auto detailer in such states in areas has probably been asked by their customers, namely new car dealerships and small used car dealerships, do you know anybody who does window tinting? That simple question spins around your mind like a thought you can control, hey, maybe I should you window tinting, what can I charge, how do you do it? Is it difficult? Many auto detailers and professional car care specialists or even those that call themselves mobile car washers and detailers have considered such a tact. Some have found that they did not have proper training, that was not as easy as it looked in that they had made a grave mistake. While others seem to have a knack for tinting windows tinting w... General Motors November Red Tag Sales Event
2006-11-18 06:30:02 Its that time of year again when General Motor s is offering select vehicles in the Red Tags Sales Event . GM owners are allowed to pick a certain number of vehicles to discount based on new car sales for the year. Most dealers are offering these red tag savings on all leftover 2006 models. It is a pretty hefty discount on most. For Instance, a GMC Yukon that lists for $35000 is now $27000. This is a nice discount on a new vehicle. After some of these vehicles sell, owners can then allocate more savings to other new vehicles. So go to your local GM dealer to see if your model is Red Tagged! If not, let a few of these red tagged vehicles sell and ask the dealership to allocate the savings to the vehicle of your choice. It could save you thousands of dollars so worth checking out. Is This A Good Time To Buy A New Car?
2006-11-17 06:27:01 This is a question that comes up quite often. Is this a good time to buy a new car? When I say new car, I do not necessarily mean a brand new car, but a new car to you, whether it is new or used. I think you can look at the market and tell when it is a good time to buy a car. Typically, November thru January are slower months for the auto industry as a whole. So dealers and salesman will bend over backwards to make a deal during these times. When spring rolls around and there is an abundance of customers, salesmen will drop a customer or shortcut the process to get to the next deal that may be easier. It is the nature of the business. Many will disagree and say each customer is important during any selling season, but trust me, on a cold November day at 6:00 in the evening with no cars sold for the day, Managers will go out of their way to make a deal. Owners believe every day should be a good day and look crazy at managers that are not giving them results. Most dealerships... More About: Time , Good

Honda Ridgeline, 2006: The Weekly Driver
2006-11-01 23:57:02 Honda Ridgeline, 2006: The Week ly Drive rBy James Raia A friend recently made the comment: You never really look at a pickup truck and say, Wow! Thats a good-looking vehicle. Id never thought about it his terms, but his words rang true. His comments also made me laugh because we were discussing the Honda Ridgeline, the new compact pickup truck. When I first noticed the truck, I immediately thought, Well, thats the first Honda I dont like. Introduced last year at car shows and first made available nationwide earlier this year as a 2006 model, the Honda Ridgeline could be categorized as the anti pickup truck. But I didnt know that until my weekly test drive. The Ridgeline just doesnt look like a Honda, and it looks more futuristic than functional. But just like the Element, which didnt fit the sports utility mold when it was introduced, Hondas new pickup up distinguishes itself quickly and on many levels. My weekly test vehicle was the RTL version, the top of the line of five opt... More About: Driver , River

Passersby stopped me at traffic signals and asked questions. Restaurant patrons came to my table and inquired. Neighbors wanted to know about the Sky, and even friends who care little about cars were interested. The Sky was introduced as manufacturers first high performance convertible sports car as a 2007 model although it was first available in the spring of 2006. The two seater, which shares its basic design with the Pontiac Solstice, is available in two options, the 177 horsepower base model and the 260 horsepower, turbocharged Red Line. Both models, like the Solstice, are rear wheel drive and have 5-speed manual transmissions as standard equipment. (A 5-speed automatic is also available in both models.) General Motors 100000 Mile Warranty
2006-10-26 06:24:01 GM offers all new car buyers of the 2007 model year a 100000 mile warranty. This is great for buyers, but what is covered in this warranty. You still have your standard factory bumper to bumper warranty. For instance, Pontiac still offers 36 months, 36000 miles of bumper to bumper warranty. Buick still offers 4 years or 50000 miles of bumper to bumper warranty. But, on top of this, you get a 100000 mile powertrain warranty that will cover engine, transmission, and drive train. The extra warranty will not cover radios, window motors, and the like. This is still great news for buyers that were spending an extra $1500 to $1800 and more for the extended warranty. The only one that is not happy about this is the finance manager, as this is a large profit center and a large portion of their pay. It will be hard to sell a bumper to bumper warranty on cars that are already covered for major components. In my opionion, you still need to weigh the options of buying a certified used ... GMs Smartbuy Lease Benefit For Financing With GMAC
2006-10-05 05:54:02 A smartbuy with GMAC is similar to a lease, but at the end of a smartbuy, you have options. You have the option to drop the car off and walk away, sell the car, keep the car and finance the balance. The benefit of a Smart buy compared to a standard lease program is that you are guaranteed financing by GMAC if you decide to keep the vehicle. When considering a lease, if you are late on a few payments, you may have difficulty financing the car for the remainder of the term. A Smartbuy will allow the purchaser to obtain a lower payment while still having their name on the title. Whereas, in a standard lease, the finance companys name would be on the title; in this instance, GMAC. You will also have to carry lower deductibles with a standard lease, where the smartbuy you can carry standard financing deductibles. I tell customers that if they drive low mileage, like 12000-15000 miles per year, the smartbuy is the ticket. Many say they want to buy the vehicle because they hate to p... 2007 Nissan Maxima: 300, Avalon Take Notice!
2006-10-03 11:48:06 2007 Nissan Maxi m a: 300, Avalon Take Notice !By Matthew Keegan During the late 1990s, Nissan rolled out a new version of its Maxima to the critical acclaim of automobile experts as well as to consumers who snapped up the snazzy car in record numbers. Nissan carried the momentum forward until when the 2004 model was released, it was perceived by many as a step backward and sales dropped accordingly. Now, Nissan is poised to release a new Maxima and the company has the Chrysler 300 and Toyota Avalon in its crosshairs! Make no mistake about it: when consumers are disappointed with a particular model they will look elsewhere, not even brand loyalty can keep consumers in the fold. Nissan found this out painfully in 2003 as the first Maximas were released as 2004 models. Sales dropped as potential buyers complained about the cheap looking interior as well as the uninspiring exterior. Nissans loss was Chryslers and Toyotas gain as the full sized, rear wheel drive Chrysler 300 has per...
