My thoughts on God Tube.....

I started watching videos on Godtube.com, and there are some good videos on the site. However, I have a problem with some of the videos. Many of the videos should be called, "Why xyz churches/denominations are wrong, and abc church/denomination are right". I just did a podcast about this very topic: believers tearing each other down in public. Lets say John, who isnt a Christian, logs on to Godtube.com to see what Christians are like. "So, John, what do you think about Christianity?", I ask. "I don't know, Kurt. I logged on to Godtube today. Many of the video's I saw seemed pretty cool. They had some good things to say. What makes me confused is why so many other videos were arguments against other Christians. It seemed like some people were just interested in showing another Christian, or church denomination to be wrong. I just wanted to share what God has been teaching Angie and I. It started on Sunday morning where our pastor taught on Psalm 3. David wrote this Psalm as he was fleeing his son, Absalom. From a human standpoint Davids life was over. It was hopeless. If you read this story in 2 Samuel, seemingly everyone but a handful of people had turned on him. We have all been there. I have gone through several business opportunities, tried lots of "can't fail" opportunities. Mr. Tim Darnell Mr. Jack Weinzierl Los Colinas was a beautiful place. The Omni Mandalay Hotel was excellent. I highly recommend it:) Doug Firebaugh led us in turning our business' completely over to God, giving Him sole ownership. These papers were signed and dated by each business owner.

Wow. I must say the weekend was just as great as Thursday and Friday. We heard Jacob Bonnema, Arch Bonnema's son. He is wise beyond his years! Next was Dawn Hills. This was her second MMC. It was really fun to hear her speak, because she has recently joined Advantage Conferences as a rep, just like me:)The last speaker of the Mindset Mentoring Conference was Karen Faith. What an amazing person, so blessed by God! Her husband, Raul, was also incredible. They shared something that I'm going to start doing: Every day, write down the miracles that you saw the day before. The definition used for a miracle had 3 criteria: A miracle is amazing, something that you have no control over, and something that brings you closer to Christ.Then, after you write down the miracles (at first it will be very few if any), pray and ask the Lord to help you not miss any of the miracles of today. Today the conference was amazing! We heard Jack Zufelt in the morning, the author of the book, "The DNA of Success". He had some great insight. Then, for lunch we ate with Mr. Zufelt, Tim Darnell, and several other reps. It was fun to get to know Jack more, he is a really funny guy!After lunch we heard Linda Caster, one of the Founders of Mannatech. She is woman of God, and a prayer warrior. Then we heard from Jim Hillhouse, owner of a Geotechnical Engineering company here in Texas. He also loves the Lord and had some great things to say that I can apply to my business.

Convention

Wow our day of convention just finished and it was incredible. We got to meet and hear Bill Bates speak(of dallas cowboys fame), super bowl rings are huge by the way:).We also heard from Doug Firebaugh who is an amazing man of God, but the man whom inspired me the most was Jerry Rasamni. He is a former Muslim from Lebanon who became a believer in Jesus Christ. His testimony was absolutely moving. He wrote the book, From Jihad to Jesus. If you have a chance to hear this man speak, you will be blessed! Our family spent Memorial Day weekend camping. We went with some friends of ours that are like family to us. Camping is not a "cheap" venture. I’m sure we spent several hundred dollars on food, gas, and camping supplies.It was worth every penny.One of the big things I have learned while being a part of Advantage Conferneces is focusing on value, rather than price. If I looked at our camping trip from a cost standpoint, I’m not sure we would have gone. After all, gas prices are up, the cost of food is rising, etc...But the trip was extremely valuable. Just the excitement on my children’s faces before we left was priceless!If you listen to advertising today, most ads are focused on price. Everyone is trying to save you money. Actually, they are hoping that you buy something whether you need the product or not. They are also expecting you to come back and buy another cheap product when that one wears out or breaks quickly. As I’m sitting here typing ominous storm clouds are rolling in from the west.The thing about storms of any kind is that the worst of them only lasts a few days, but the aftermath can last years (hurricane Katrina). The good news is that even the most devastating natural disaster can be recovered from. The recovery usually is much easier when people are properly prepared.This is how we should approach our lives and our business’. We know that the “storms” are going to come. Are we prepared for them? The best preparation I’ve found is having a relationship with Jesus Christ. When I am weak, He is strong! I encourage you to get into the Bible and read it every day. My relationship with God is the foundation for my life, and my business.Another thing that has helped me greatly to be ready for the “storms” is mentoring. Every time I hand money to someone, swipe a card, or write a check, I am going to say out loud “this is Gods money”. Every time I receive money, I am going to do likewise. Why? Because this is the truth and I along with everyone else need to hear it. This is the “understanding” that Psalm 49:20 is talking about.Gaining wealth for any purpose other than advancing Gods Kingdom is really a waste of time. And time is very short. Last year I attended a conference called the Mindset Mentoring Conference, where a gentleman named Arch Bonnema spoke. He was talking about what God has taught him about giving. Mr. Bonnema and his wife felt the Lord lead them to increase their monthly giving and time substantially. They had just started a new business, and it wasn’t the best idea to give more according to the worlds standards. They made the commitment to give anyway. Over the next five years, they went through their entire savings, as well as their retirement. They sold basically everything but their house, and they kept their commitment to give.Then God blessed them. Their business exploded, and they were able to give more than they ever had.When I heard that they were willing to deplete their savings, retirement, sell all but the essentials in order to keep giving, I was convicted. I have become more concerned lately with where my money is going. Who is benefiting from the money that God has blessed my family with? When I purchase an item, or invest in a company, is the Kingdom being advanced?As Christians, I believe this HAS to be important to us. For too long, many believers have looked at the cheapest price, or the safest long term investments as the main factors when dealing with money.We are to be stewards of GODS money while on this earth. This is the truth. “’The silver is mine and the gold is mine,’ declares the Lord Almighty” Haggai 2:8Since the money is not ours, then we should use it in a way that glorifies God. Here are some ways that we can be better users of Gods resources:Buy and invest locally.
