Who is in control of your business?
2008-05-30 19:56:00 This time of year is just crazy for me. I am in the motorsports business, and it is full of procrastinators. Many of my clients like to wait until racing season is near before they bring in their parts for work. I have tried to stress that they bring their parts as early as possible, but this doesn't always happen.I then find myself allowing the customer to dictate my schedule, because I want to do a great job for them and have their parts ready to go for the beginning of the racing season. Obviously this creates a big problem. I have been pushing all other priorities out of the way to make more time for the procrastinators. I am in a sense enabling them. Not any more! If a customer comes to me and gives me a deadline that won't work with my schedule, I am not going to move other things to make it work. I am simply going to let them know that the work will be done in the order it was received and next time they need to bring it in sooner. I may lose a few customers, but it will pay... Blessed beyond Measure!
2008-05-18 02:19:00 Today was a great day. The weather was beautiful, the Kids were playing in the yard all day, and I was working out in the garage. My wife Angie spent the afternoon working on her book. Today I saw the Lord. Today I felt the Lord Ministering to me. Not with some major revelation through scripture, or the words of a Godly person, but simply through Life, and Living. Why was today different? I guess it was because I was looking for God in everything, and not focused on "me". Last Thursday on the Mindset Call Tim Darnell was talking about the Apostle Paul having Joy in all circumstances. We can have that Joy when we are Looking "up" at the Savior and not all around, or at ourselves. It is a simple concept, but it isn't always easy. Only through daily prayer and Time with the Word can we prepare our hearts for a Joy-filled day.Be Blessed KurtJoin Me on The On Purpose Entrepreneurial Network! Good, Clean Water
2008-04-25 13:45:00 Proverbs 25:26 "If the Godly compromise with the wicked, it is like polluting a fountain or muddying a spring."(New Living Translation)I was reading Proverbs 25 this morning and this verse really struck me. In the world we live in compromise is expected, and can be a good thing. But when it comes to the things of God, there can be no compromise. God has called us to be salt and light to the world, to be in the world but not of the world. I noticed in this verse when we compromise with the wicked, only the Godly suffer. Our water supply gets contaminated, making us like the wicked. As we interact with the world today, lets make sure we are showing love to others, but at the same time standing up for TRUTH.KurtJoin Me on The On Purpose Entrepreneurial Network! Taking the next Step
2008-04-18 05:13:00 Sometimes the next step is the hardest to take. Sometimes I try to jump past the next step or two and get ahead of myself. The best step to take is the next one We should not linger on the last step we took, but focus on the one we are taking. As we are moving forward, looking behind can be dangerous. We need to periodically look farther ahead to make sure we are going down the best path, but then get back to the world right in front of us.KurtJoin Me on The On Purpose Entrepreneurial Network! How Are You?
2008-03-05 14:15:00 Tim Darnell, Advantage Conferences founder and President, had a particularly thought provoking Mindset call last Thursday. I thought I would share the notes with you. How Are You Doing?Tim DarnellHow are you doing? The following discussion may change your answer to that common question, and the way you think about yourself. You are actually much better off than you think you are.Read these key scriptures slowly and carefully. Don’t hurry through them, but take the time to carefully read.* * * * * * * * * * *God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM”. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: “I AM has sent me to you”. Exodus 3:14So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:27Once having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, nor will people say, ‘here it is,’ or ‘there it is,’ because th...

Opportunities and Distractions
2008-01-30 04:58:00 At the last Advantage Conferences Mindset Mentoring Conference, a man named Kevin Weaver was one of the speakers. While he was talking with us, a comment he made has really stuck with me. He said that one of his mentors explained to him "You need to learn the difference between Opportunity, and Distraction". Kevin realized that he had been spending too much time doing "good" things, instead of doing the "best" things for him. Let me explain. In my life I have found that it is very easy to say yes. If someone asks me to be involved in a project, or ministry, or business venture I want to say "yes". These are all "good" things, even Godly things. But good opportunities can become not-so-good distractions very easily. As Bilbo Baggins in the “Lord of the Rings” says, you “feel like butter spread across too much bread”.As followers of Christ, God has given us a purpose for being on this earth. Our first priority is to love the Lord our God with all your heart, soul, and mind,... More About: Opportunities , Distractions

Ethical Networking
2008-01-15 04:48:00 This is a post from my friend and mentor Jack Weinzierl on his blog at http://jackweinzierl.com. Negative marketing has been a concern for me as well. Thanks Mike Dillard and Jack Weinzierl for this insight.Kurt GreenEthical Networking I was reading a powerful post from Mike Dillard this weekend and had to share some excerpts of it here. Thanks Mike. I've seen a marketing tactic being used more and more often. I believe it is contributing to the lack of trust in the marketplace. It may appear to be effective on the surface, but in the end, I find it disturbing, harmful, and short-sighted.Go into Google and do a search on any company. What do you find in the sponsored ads at the top and right side of the page? There's a very good chance that most will read something like this...Such and Such Company ReviewWhy ----- wasn't for me. Financial Vision Correction
2007-12-27 15:48:00 Like most people I have less than perfect eyesight. Without glasses or contacts I can see, but everything from a foot or so out begins to blur. I can function without my corrective lenses, but I am limited in what I can do. I can't drive a car without them. I stumble around a bit, and have trouble reading anything that isn't close to my face.We all grow up learning a certain way to look at finances. Our home life, schooling and environment tell us how money works. Unfortunately many times what we are taught is either completely incorrect, or limited. For instance you may look at money as a bad thing. You may have heard "Money is the root of all evil" quoted to you. Sadly that "verse" isn't scripture at all. Its a misquote. 1 Timothy 6 is talking about false teachings and to watch out for them. Chapter 6 vs 10 is talking about people who begin loving money over Christ. The verse is this: "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wa... Kingdom Language
2007-12-06 16:32:00 Kingdom Language Matthew 12:36“But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken.”When I read this passage the other day it literally made me shudder. It made me think about words, and what kind of impact words have in life. The Bible is very clear: What we speak is very important. So how should we speak? If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, than what we say should reflect our position, and where we are going. I call this “Kingdom Language”.What is your position as a disciple of Christ?• You are Gods Child (John 1:12)• You are Christ’s friend (John 15:15)• You are united with the Lord (1 Cor. 6:17)• You have been bought with a price (1 Cor. 6:19-20)• You are a saint(set apart for God) (Eph. 1:1)• You are a personal witness of Christ (Acts 1:8)• You are the salt and light of the earth (Matt. 5:13-14)• You are a member of the body of Christ (1 Cor 12:27)• You are forever free from condemnation ... Speechless!
2007-11-14 05:27:00 Angie and I are back from attending our 3rd Advantage Conferences Mindset Mentoring Conference. Ive been trying to think of what to write about and having a hard time figuring out where to start. Like the previous conferences, it perfectly blended entrepreneurial training with biblical truth. Nowhere else have I experienced this kind of teaching.I will post more in the future as I process it all, but One of the things that really stuck with me was when Kevin Weaver talked about learning to tell the difference between opportunity and distraction. I often find myself saying "yes" to everything, and becoming overcommitted. Many times I have been chasing what I thought were opportunities, but were only leading me away from my purpose.Speaking of purpose, what is yours? Are you an "On purpose Person"? I highly recommend the little book "The On Purpose Person" by Keving Mccarthy, and of course Tim Darnell's book "Slay Your Giant". Email me at kurt@advantageconferences.com and I can get... Fear Not
2007-10-30 02:39:00 My Friend and Mentor Jack Weinzierl emailed this to me and I wanted to share it with you! :We have some incredible gifts within the body of Christ that are not being used. The following is absolutely beautiful. It touched me when I think of all the books to be written, songs to be written and sung, businesses to be built, that will never come to pass because people are in fear instead of faith. Fear not, as He is with you. This is a story about a guy (car phone salesman), a guy like most of us, common, questioning his existence, measuring himself to others, never believing in his abilities or his worth. Then one day, his passion outgrew his fears as he stepped onto a stage, a stage that took him to a place beyond his self-imposed prison. Watch the faces of the judges as this guy walks out on the stage. You can almost see what they are thinking as they pre-judge this guy based on his looks and the fact that he is a cell phone salesman. Maybe he had stopped believing in what people to...
Strength for Today, Hope for Tomorrow
2007-10-26 14:00:00 As I was praying and doing my devotions this morning, God put this phrase in my mind:"Strength for Today , Hope for Tomo rrow "What a great thought! I wondered if it was a verse so I did a search and did not find this specific phrase, but found Hebrews 6:9-19: "Even though we speak like this, dear friends, we are confident of better things in your case—things that accompany salvation. 10God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. 11We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure. 12We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. The Certainty of God's Promise 13When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, 14saying, "I will surely bless you and give you many descendants."[c] 15And so after waiting patien... Be Encouraged!
2007-09-11 03:51:00 Business isn't going as planned. Goals seem out of reach. Nothing seems to be working. Is God trying to tell you to quit? Maybe. If you began your business without getting on your knees, and have been relying on your own wisdom to succeed, stop right now. Get on your knees and ask God for direction.Did you start your venture with Gods direction? Did you start knowing that you were doing His will? Keep going! Don't quit! Remember that God owns your business, and he is the CEO. Let him lead. Colossians 1:10-12And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. Live your life worthy. Don't let circumstances change yo...

2007-08-13 16:09:00 What kind of legacy are you leaving behind? What will people say about you when you are gone? Those are questions that my mentor, Tim Darnell asked of me. We are all leaving behind a legacy. Everything we do and say is added to our legacy. As Christians, our goal should be to glorify God, and advance His Kingdom. From a financial standpoint, is the way we handle the money God has allowed us to have leaving a legacy that glorifies God?
