One trying to out-talk another
2008-04-15 07:16:00
It is said that rooster is competitive by nature, I tend to believe that too. They are probably one of the very efficient people, and they are usually great achiever.. only if they put their best to work.Earth Rooster. This is so looking like chicken little. It was first designed with beaded eyes, this larger safety eyes really makes a drastic difference in the entire expression.Water/Wood Rooster, Water enhances Wood. The little small parts like the comb, beak and legs are not following the Fengshui colors, but they are kind of difficult to replace with other colors. When we try to enhance our energy via fengshui elements, small traces of other elements are ok.Copyright © 2006-2007 Simple Arts Planet. All Rights Reserved.

What are the 3 Monkeys up to?
2008-04-15 07:10:00
I am not sure, Monkey gives an impression of hyperactivity, and mischievous activities, doesn't it?I guess the 3 little ones are probably planning for a surprise party or something though. The Water/Wood Money, whereby Water enhances Wood.Wood/Earth/Fire Monkey, whereby Wood enhances Fire, in turn enhances Earth.Fire/Earth Monkey, Earth enhances Fire. The monkey images are also showing various expressions eh? That could be one reason why we simply love dolls.Copyright © 2006-2007 Simple Arts Planet. All Rights Reserved.

The 3 Horses getting together for board meeting
2008-04-15 07:01:00
Generally, horse gives me an impression of sincerity. These 3 probably get together to discuss really important and pressing matters eh.This is clearly a Fire combination. Reds and pinks are colors of fire. This is a Metal/Earth combi, whereby Earth enhances Fire.Water/Wood/Fire whereby Water enhances Wood, in turn enhances Fire.Copyright © 2006-2007 Simple Arts Planet. Joycezie Bulls
2008-04-15 06:51:00
The cousin bulls, no they are not fighting for attention, they will get their very own attention from the cousins who are going to adopt them.Ready for some Fengshui lesson? Ok, here goes:Water/Wood Bull = Water -> enhances WoodEarth/Metal/Water Bull = Earth -> enhances Metal -> enhances WaterIf you observe the individual images, you will be amazed how different the bull looks in different angles. Many a times, that relates closely to our perspectives, doesn't it? It's just a matter of which angle we are taking when studying one matter. From one angle, the bull may look a little more aggressive, while the other angle captures the innocence of him, and the other angle shows how cheery the mood he is in, while another angle may reflects a bull with many deep thoughts. When making a statement, a decision, we may also release an array of different information, depending on how you look at it. Some people receives the information with gladness, while some are displeased. We can't decid...

A family of Animals!
2008-04-15 04:25:00
So, this family of little critters are ready to leave for their new homes. They are going to be 'allocated' to different homes but, don't worry too much for them, they are still going to be in the same family. This lot of dolls is ordered for my customer's grand nieces/nephews (she is amazingly young!!!) This is a rather challenging order. I was given the Fengshui (geomancy) elements combination, (i.e. Fire/Wood; Water/Wood; Metal/Earth/Fire etc) and I do the color match up. I also tried to match up with the gender of the receiver, but really, some combi is very leaning towards a certain gender, I can only hope they are going to like what I match up for them.Unlike the Dotty Devils order, this order requires longer time because there are many different animals here, so I have to make each of them separately with different color combination. The dotty devils, although I made a total of 50 and 20 (separately) but they are all in the same design and same color, so I can grab the mom...

Copyright Policy for Patterns
2008-04-14 05:44:00
Patterns Copyright /RestrictionFinished Doll+ Selling of finished doll is allowed;+ Pattern buyers are to credit pattern design to SAPlanet for every doll made from SAPlane's pattern, however, there is no need to create an url linking back to SAPlanet's online shop.+ Credit should read, 'Doll made from SAPlanet pattern'.Pattern+ DO NOT redistribute, resell, and/or translate pattern into another language for reselling; including publishing on the internet. Regret that action will be taken against those who infringe this clause.Thank you to those who have sent me urls of whom you suspected have violated the copyright of my design.I really appreciate the information, this is probably the only way to help designer continue creating new designs, and STOP copyright violators. I completely agree that pattern buyers who do not respect my policy DO NOT deserve to cut a sale out from the dolls made from my patterns. Be assured that I will take necessary actions against this group of people...

In the next few weeks' time...
2008-04-10 06:22:00
I am very likely to stop all doll orders from 01 May till mid May 2008.For the next couple of weeks, I am going to remain really busy. Sorry, no new designs to be rolled out during this period of time, as I am trying to complete outstanding orders now. What are taking place during these crazy weeks:1. First, I am leaving Singapore Etsy Team admin team; I really can't help out more now with the scarcity of time...2. Work harder and faster to finish orders..LOL3. Call the travel organizer everyday to chase for confirmationI am a little brain-jammed, so I think that's about all, nothing very much, just time consuming things..Oh, and the good news is that the project kits are receiving pretty good responses, newly launched, but I already sold quite a couple of kits!! Thank you!Ahh.. no. 4 in the list may be sourcing for the supplies for Rapunzel project kit, right now, that is not available as kit yet.Copyright © 2006-2007 Simple Arts Planet. All Rights Reserved.

Project that left me cross-eyed
2008-04-07 08:29:00
I completed on doll yesterday to send out today. I then started on this project, and it's really bad to work such project in the night with poor light.. At first, I worked on the floor, and then I realized that my back was going to break, so I did the grays and black tiles last night, continued with the blue tiles this morning.I know there are some gaps in the blue tiles, it was raw cut, so it was kind of tough to find the right angle to fit in. This is the best I can do..Copyright © 2006-2007 Simple Arts Planet. All Rights Reserved.

Both Excited and Exhausted...
2008-04-05 12:00:00
I have finally get the site up.. whew.. It's really exciting and exhausting for me. Having in mind that I have 9 more dolls to finish, a wedding order to start off, I really should be putting off this drastic changes to be made to my website. However, some excitement is simply too hard to contain and suppress.I am so thrilled to announce that I have launched the project kits! I think only Rapunzel pattern is not made in the kit yet, Rapunzel requires more materials, some materials are not in stock, so I don't want to offer what I may have difficulty in gathering.Apart from the new launch of project kits, which can be purchased off the individual item page; I have also changed the accepting currency to Singapore Dollars. Don't frown yet, Paypal automatically converts your purchases in foreign currency to your local currency. I remember you can actually choose if you wish to accept their rates or charge it to your credit/debit card using the bank's rate. The currency fluctuation is...

New Project for bookshelf
2008-03-27 14:20:00
So I mentioned I packed in another new project on top of the many dolls I am needing to complete. I am only perhaps 1/7th done with the new project. It's going to be just a rectangular piece of crocheted fabric which I can hook the corners of 2 shorter ends to the cabinet which I placed all my books and files there. I live near the furniture manufacturing area, so my house tends to get a dusty easily. I really really don't want to be cleaning as much as I can avoid doing it.So, I am making use of all my stash yarns and doing up this. This is probably one of my favorite stitch (I don't even know what it's called, I learned crochet at age of below 10, and back then there wasn't any specific names to the stitches known to me) as it look like knitted products. Ok, call me cheating...This makes the finished work feels thicker too, I guess if I were to crochet beanie with wool yarn, this may be pretty ideal, it definitely will keep heads warm..LOLI think this will turn out very colorf...

Personalizing Commercialization?
2008-03-26 06:22:00
Oh well, I don't even quite sure what I meant by Personalizing Commercialization?I started this business with the simple objective to do what I would be enjoying doing. I started off with Etsy, which was a fantastic warm community. I am not so sure if I love it as much anymore. I don't hate it for sure. With the closing of Etsy Tools, I started to realize that more 'pioneer' members who saw the growth of Etsy since it was just a baby little selling venue have started to grow to dislike the now very commercialized venue.I remember I used to login to the Etsy Forum, chatting up with some members, read on some various perspective. People were pretty supportive, friendly and helpful in there. I am sure some are still maintaining the good qualities though. These days, I rarely visit the forum anymore. It's full of land mines, you may catch yourself in a really nasty situation if you just let your guard down a wee bit.I started to think about my own business. I love the personalization...
Special Announcement - Leaving eBay
2008-03-25 13:21:00
The great thing about my business is that I get to know many buyers who buy most of my patterns and eventually we chatted like we have known one another for many years. I have been with eBay since last May/June, and I already have a handful of regulars from eBay. Sadly, it's time to bid eBay goodbye for good unless they decide to revert the decision on the newly revised listing policy for digital goods. Here is the link to the change: http://www2.ebay.com/aw/core/200803.shtml #2008-03-24125416What happened was that I sold 4 items and tried to relist them, but to my astonishment, I got 'stuck' with 2 listings which prompted me with high alert window indicating of the new policy change.I followed what was advised, but it just refused to get listed. LOL... Do you know there is a Live Help feature with eBay? Well, I know today. Apparently, as of 31 Mar, sellers have to list the digital products using the Classified Ads selection, which is going to cost $9.95 per insertion fee. WOW!!!! ...

Alex & Gogi Goat
2008-03-25 05:01:00
Sinead ordered a customized goat for his friend Alex (seen in the photo), and he is very pleased with the finished doll.He is probably one of most thoughtful friends, he had considered carefully when to send the gift out to Alex and didn't want the gift to arrive way too prematurely before Alex's birthday. It's been a wonderful communication with Sinead on the order, and I am happy to hear that Alex is loving that little goat. All I can say is that no matter how adorable I tried to make Gogi, he can't match up the pretty Alex.Thank you Sinead, for sending me this photo.Photograph used with permission from Alex.Copyright © 2006-2007 Simple Arts Planet. SimpleArtsPlanet created this playful crocheted Rapunzel and her cute yarny prince. She looks kinda chipper for someone trapped in a tower, no? Check out SimpleArtsPlanet's Flickr for more photos of her fairytale-inspired crochet. Rapunzel AmigurumiGo here to see the whole article.Thank you Jenny, for featuring my Rapunzel! Indeed Rapunzel looks cheery trapped in the tower eh. What can I tell you? My motto is 'creating simple joy in life'. Sometimes, we probably can't do much about the situation we are trapped in, and we don't frown upon what we have no or little control over; we find simply joy in what we have access in control - our emotions.I guess I would always love to be hopeful despite the circumstances. Ok ok.. I know I know.. I am just defending myself here, the fact is, I didn't want to make 2 Rapunzel, one in the tower looking sombre, another happy Rapunzel after escaping from the claws of the witch.Copyright © 2006-2007 Simple Arts Planet. Photo Wall Frame
2008-03-18 04:02:00
So it wasn't the best crochet designing day yesterday, so I decided to put my hands on something else.I bought some mosaic tiles during a sale more than half a year ago, and a plank wood, and left them in the store room since.I don't have drilling tool, so everything is manual, I 'drill' 2 holes on the top panel of the plank and using E6000 industrial grade adhesive, I pieced the mosaic tiles in random colors arrangement, printed a mosaic arranged images of our recent holiday trip on photo quality paper. It is however vital to have an idea what we wanted to do with the materials on hands before we get started with any project. It wouldn't be easy to make the holes after the tiles are glued on, would it?I figured that the photos can always be switched around, I am liking this frame. It does look like I didn't have enough mosaic tiles, but I guess that allows flexibility of photo sizes too. Some days, we just have to do something out of the regular stuffs, just so that we expand ou...

Rapunzel, Rapunzel
2008-03-16 13:38:00
I am in such a fairy tale mood eh. Rapunzel has been one of my favorites. The psychological effect of repetitive lines in the story book got me hooked completely.. 'Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down you hair...'My aunt used to be a school principal, and we knew we could count on her when it came to story books. She would get story books for each of us during Christmas, I loved all the books she got for me.You can read more on this fair tale at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RapunzelI am enjoying making fairy tale theme. These fairy tales are not well known amongst the Asians of earlier generations. I would tell my mum about these stories, and she had been a keen listener. Surely, I always tell her the stories after I have completed the dolls, so that I can use the dolls to better illustrate the story. You bet, of cause I had added in sound effects, screams, laughters and all. I am the best story teller at home, so I was told..It took me almost 3 days to complete this pattern. The tower m...
Change in Logo
2008-03-12 05:03:00
If you have noticed, my shops banner has changed to a simpler S logo.I can give a really sophisticated definition on the new logo. See the big letter S? That is S for simple arts planet, see that little stroke on the top? that would be the simplified abstract halo representation. That curvy strokes on the right represents the wings of an angel. Remember my old logo was an angel? Now, here comes another truth. I actually integrate the entire logo with Fengshui (geomancy) numerology in mind. The halo is done in such a way, it's a 7, the S is an 8, while the wings is a 3. When you add up the 3 numbers, it gives you 18. 18 is an auspicious number for business. My cell number is chosen carefully so that it totaled up to an auspicious harmonious number.I have a firm belief that we MUST think fengshui enough to have fengshui works for us. We MUST think harmony to have harmony surrounds us. So to speak, we must think about something enough to have that happen to us. Think positive, you act p...

Customized Joycezie Bull for my mama
2008-03-06 12:12:00
My mum requested for a pink bull last week, which was meant for her younger sister, my aunt. They (the group of sisters and brother) went to Genting Highlands on Sunday when my mum passed the present to her sister. My aunt kind of 'threatened' the bull (so I thought I was the only crazy person who talks to plush toy, I guess I am wrong) that if the bull doesn't bring her good luck, she will bring the bull home in Singapore and make steak of out the bull. Gosh, that's cruel!Anyway, the threat seemed to take effect on Joycezie. My aunt sat in front of the jackpot with Joycezie sitting on her bag (I think) and guess what, the craziest thing happened! She hit the jackpot and won a neat $800. She was escalated! The next thing I was hearing from my mum after she finished that story... was that mum wants a bull for herself too. I'm not sure, I suspect that they have chose to believe that Joycezie is a good luck charm?I made her this with salmon red yarn, mum is a very woman now. She dec...

I have received at least 12 emails concerning wholesaling, resale of translated patterns, discount for patterns, free patterns etc. In view of these, I am to share my opinions here.I am flattered that my patterns are receiving good feedbacks, great demand for the potential of popularity to be sold in other regions, however, pattern designs are the intellectual property of mine, and I will NOT allow wholesale, resale of translated patterns. For regular buyers, if you like to have some savings on my patterns, you may wish to wait up a little longer before buying the newly released patterns. I am including patterns in value sets when the more patterns are released, or when I see the need to create more value sets. That usually gives a small savings of $2-4 per set.At present, I have no plan to design simple free amigurumi patterns. Each of my pattern is painstakingly designed. In view that I am allowing buyers to make and sell the finished dolls, I am cutting out a fraction of the intel...

The Little Red Riding Hood & Big Bad Wolf Amigurumi
2008-03-05 06:27:00
What inspired me to design and make this fairytale? You won't believe the credit goes to Kangie, the shy kangaroo eh?The story goes that when I was designing Kangie, I hit the hard corners a bit here and there, just to get the head right. Guess what, the head I first made, turned out to be a wolf lookalike head instead. I kept the scribbles of the instruction aside while I finish up Kangie.I thought it's time to start the wolf pattern, and wolf doesn't seem to be a very popular design, and the one very famous wolf would be none other than the big bad wolf. Then, came the idea of Reddie, the red riding hood.I didn't use craft eyes for Wolf ie because I want to make Wolfie as 'bad' as it can, and using the craft eyes may make Wolfie looks too innocent and kind. This set of dolls would be pretty safe for young children too, since no detachable parts are used. There are several versions to the fairytale, which you can read up more at this link:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_ Red...

Dotty Amigurumi Devil for myself
2008-03-02 04:53:00
To-date, I have probably made 65-70 dotty devils now, yet I own none, and that doesn't make sense right?I have decided to adopt one myself. Dotty has been my top favorite since it's made. I have even used Dotty devil illustration which I did late last year, or early this year?) as the favicon of my website.I am now considering to include this little on in my new business cards, let me sink in that idea for a bit. It's quite a drastic change, from my angel logo to devil?!!?Then again, devil is not always scary, we all have a devil and angel in us, and it depends on how we manage our thoughts, desire, and rationality eh.Copyright © 2006-2007 Simple Arts Planet.
