Having fun with my website
2008-02-29 11:43:00 So you may figure that I am really free with no orders eh? Well, I do, I just try to have fun even when I am working.Hey, but wait, my website is part of my work!I have decided to give my website a favicon. I tried a few times with different images, including the logo, but honestly, when the logo is shrunk down to 16 x 16px, it's really not flattering. I decided to have my dotty drawing up there. Now, when you click on Simple Arts Planet, you should be able to see the favicon up.It's not difficult to put that up, I did it with favicon generator provided free from dynamic drive. It's easy and quick.I think Dotty is going to be up there for quite a bit, needless to say, Dotty has been my all time favorite amongst all the dolls I have made.Copyright © 2006-2007 Simple Arts Planet. Amigurumi Kangie, The Shy Baby Kangaroo
2008-02-28 15:12:00 This baby kangaroo was long decided to be born when I first set my eyes on the real baby kangaroo in Australia.I named him Kangie, and I gave him a great personality too! He is a very generous baby kangaroo, and don't misunderstand that he bags all the grasses for himself. He is bagging them just so that he can share with his kangaroo mates. This was the real baby kangaroo we saw and fed at The Big Pineapple, Sunshine Coast in Australia. He is a little shy, so we just left the food on the ground.Kangie is really quite tiny, (as usual) he stands at a height of 6.5cm (2.55") including his ears.I made an amazingly wrong head for Kangie initially, and guess what, it was a beautiful mistake. I now have something else in mind for that head. If I can manage the time, I may just go ahead and make the new pattern tomorrow.Copyright © 2006-2007 Simple Arts Planet. All Rights Reserved. Joycezie Bull for aunt
2008-02-26 16:36:00 Mum requested for a bull to be made for her sister, my aunt. She asked for a red colored bull, but I had made that before, so I really would love new colors. I proposed my favorite pink (amongst all other pink shades I have) and she loves how the little bull turns out.Copyright © 2006-2007 Simple Arts Planet. All Rights Reserved. More About: Bull
Categorizing the designs
2008-02-26 08:49:00 I really should be developing new patterns, since I said I have sketched out a few drafts eh? Oh well, humans are 'designed' to be distracted, aren't we?When I was trying to add the owl design to my website, the distracting work started too. I realized that my amigurumi shopping page was getting too long, and that could mean long page loading for buyers.I then decided to have them themed and categorized, the image above represent the Animal series. This goes under People series, it's only consisting 4 designs now, but what can I tell you? I have other ideas in queue, so I am confident that I will fill the page up soon. (hopefully)This is themed under Creatures, holidays, others series. This consists of some creatures including sea creatures, monsters, holiday themed designs and just any others that I couldn't figure where to place them.Once we get distracted, it's like we got sucked into a black hole. I went on to change the code for colors, eyes, and chain option.I spent half ... More About: Designs
Gogi Goat - Customized Colors
2008-02-26 08:45:00 I just completed this sweet little goat for a buyer. It's been a while since I made goat, but well, I now have over 30-ish designs (YES! I actually have that many, oh well, not that many, but pretty nice quantity already), I don't get to make the same designs all the time.Copyright © 2006-2007 Simple Arts Planet. All Rights Reserved. Inkie & Inko Amigurumi Doll
2008-02-25 04:57:00 So, I am so back from holiday, so back into working mode now! I have drafted a couple of drawings and named them under 'To Design and Make', so that I can start working on the pattern. Fingers crossed though, some are really challenging! To get started, I have chosen to make Inkie and Inko. Why the names? In Chinese, Owl reads as 'Mao Tou Ying'. Here it goes with the reading:Mao = Read as 'Mouth' without the 'th' soundTou = Read as 'Toe'Ying = Read as 'Ink' without the 'k' sound, but with a light 'ing'Now, it all makes sense with Chinese names you know. Here it goes with the explanation:Mao = CatTou = HeadYing = EagleWell, it merely means that Owl is really understood as an eagle lookalike bird with a cat's head. (I really hope I am getting this right though, and I didn't search on this material, so please, take this with a pinch of salt)Isn't this Owl a beauty? This owl was brought to us when we were at The Big Pineapple, in Sunshine Coast. There is mini forest wa... More About: Doll
Supplies - Craft Eyes
2008-02-22 05:58:00 I ordered these craft eyes when I was making the Dotty devils before I left for my holiday, I didn't have a chance to take pictures of them and list them up.I am finally able to do this, and they are now listed up in our eStore, and Etsy store.(Above) These are solid black safety eyes, each measuring 6mm. I have been replacing the beaded eyes with these safety eyes, but I didn't get to take pictures of the finished dolls. These were ordered in excess when I ordered the eyes to make the Dotty Devils (in the previous post). These safety clear eyes are my favorite! Each eye measures 12mm in diameter. These eyes are ideal for people who use thicker yarns to make their dolls with my patterns.Copyright © 2006-2007 Simple Arts Planet. All Rights Reserved. More About: Eyes , Supplies , Craft

Bear with my ranting for now
2008-01-21 11:09:00 This is to alert the brides/grooms who are inquiring about my wedding favors.Simple Arts Planet (SAPlanet) operates independently in this crafting business that I hold great pride and integrity in. If you see anyone else doing the exact same stuffs or using exact or modified designs as we have here, be assured that they are just some despicable imposers.Every single wedding favor is handmade by me - Lis, and no one else, not even my husband, my mum, or my nieces. Every layout is done by me, although some image designs were submitted by brides who got their friends to do up the artwork, the layout is done by me.I outsource printing work to professional printer, and at present, I have found a really reliable and prided printer who understands professional and business ethics. He will never steal or share my designs and artwork.I had used 2 printers before I found this printer, and have since have their names stroked off my supplier list, because of poorly done work.I will not hesitate... Customised 404 Error Page
2008-01-20 05:12:00 I did a customised 404 error page in my website, so instead of an usual unfriendly 404 Error page, page cannot be displayed.... My error page is showing a little Dinosaur asking visitors to visit the various pages on the left panel instead. The error page normally appears when visitors typed a wrong address, say a missing alphabet or maybe that no longer exists in my website.Copyright © 2006-2007 Simple Arts Planet. SAPlanet Dotty Devil used in Full Page Advert!
2008-01-18 12:33:00 This is so exciting! Our Dotty Devil was used in a full page advertisement! I have no idea what it said in the advertisement, but I am sure Dotty didn't mind a bit being trapped in the jar, he gets the lime light after all.I will insert the English translated contents here when I do get them.***Ok, this is what I was told about the advert:The heading reads:When Shit HappensThe content reads how companies should 'Seal Their Devils' in a jar.DNV is a certification company that ensures businesses at such that they do not need to face these devils in their businesses.***Yes, Dotty Devil is the baddie here. I must admit that this is such a brilliant typography, even without understanding a word in the advertisement, I could tell that it's something about 'Containing the Devil' or 'Containing the Risks' since I checked that DNV is a risk management company. What can I say? Grey Worldwide is simply more than efficient and brilliant! They definitely have a 'shout' effect on such a ... More About: Page , Full , Advert

Rebbie Amigurumi Crab - The Heroine (to-be)
2008-01-09 14:31:00 So this is Miss Rebbie, the amigurumi crab. You don't want to know where I got the inspiration from and planned this for a long while, and finally got this free slot today to bring Rebbie to the family.I am waiting for the supplies to arrive before I get started with the bulk order, so this is the perfect time to introduce Miss Rebbie to you.She is a larger doll compared to my other little babies. I quickly came up with a story for her, each of my babies has a background story, Rebbie is no different, only bigger.Rebbie measures approximately 12cm (4.7") wide; and 7cm (2.75:) tall.So this is the personal profile of Rebbie:Rebbie is not quite the heroine yet, but she aspires to be one, and working really hard towards achieving this goal. She would work out on her claws every day, just so that she would be able to save just anyone when she is needed.Rebbie's eyes are glued on, super glue works perfect with yarn, although it may show some glue bubbles on clear eyes, they still look g... Joon Boon & Wendy Wedding
2008-01-04 11:17:00 Wendy is a very easy going, and sweet bride-to-be to work with. Although she had given very short notice for her wedding order, I am glad and pleased that I am able to finish this order yesterday and send off by local courier today.I think I am the fussy one here, she is so easy-going that I felt bad that I may be the one who injected that idea to her that I am running really tight schedule (and trust me, I still am!) so she didn't want to fuss too much about the layout. The artwork design was done by her friend, Pei Jia. I love her work so much, I am in the midst of discussion with exploring working opportunity with her. The style sits perfectly for me, I love adorable designs, and the artist needs to have a certain degree of aesthetic sense.Wedding is not an event I would want to mess around with, therefore I am stringent with the people I am working with on wedding orders. I have changed 2 printers now, because of poor quality prints they did. I am very pleased with the present p... More About: Magnets , Wendy , Boon
Saftey Craft Eyes Now Available at SAPlanet E-Store
2008-01-04 09:30:00 I have received many inquiries on the craft eyes I use on my dolls. I use 9mm craft eyes (sewn on) in the past, but I have tried these safety eyes, and they work just fine too. I am now listing them in my estore, just to complete the supplies section. Actually there is another onyx beads that I could list up, but I think that is way too easy to purchase anywhere and in really low price, so I am not listing them, since I am unable to sell them below my cost price.Copyright © 2006-2007 Simple Arts Planet. I feel like an illustrator today!
2007-12-31 04:15:00 I definitely feel like an illustrator lately eh? I sketched out most of my amigurumi babies last night. Now, I am going to fine tune and digitalise them. If I like how they turned out, I may make them into postcards or tags or whatever.I have a party to attend tonight, and then, I have lots of work to do when I return, tomorrow is going to be super duper busy too, and not forgetting to fast at night. I have my health check-up the day after tomorrow, so I can't eat from tomorrow night onwards until the health checks are completed.Copyright © 2006-2007 Simple Arts Planet. All Rights Reserved. Before 2008 Hits...
2007-12-30 07:05:00 ... I just want to express my sincerest gratitude of appreciation to the buyers who have been providing continual support towards my works.I am thankful that although I have started designing and making amigurumi for not too long a period, I have already a handful of faithful and loyal buyers who loved and still loving my creations.Big thank you to...... the buyers who tipped off on the unethical sites that posted my patterns freely... the buyers who never fail to write real nice feedback and encouragements... the repeat buyers who check out my shops regularly for new creations... anyone who simply links back to my shops to feature my worksAs 2008 approaches, I still don't have intention to organise any form of workshops for teaching amigurumi doll making. Patterns are for those who wish to self-teach themselves this new or existing hobby; post-sales email support is always available, however I do not provide phone support. To add, SAPlanet is a mini scale business solely operated ... More About: Hits
