Loving Tortoises for a Special Friend

These little tortoises are specially made for a very special friend. Nope, they are not for sale.In case you want to know, these are the materials used:1. Yarns - DMC Senso wool cotton; DMC Senso Harlequin2. Eyes - 9mm craft eyes - also known as safety eyes3. Flower button from thrift shopMy first attempt with safety eyes, all other craft eyes I had used before were sewn on eyes, whereby there is a hole in at the shank. It's easy to use safety eyes too though, I think I would prefer metal washer though. The only adjustment I had made in the making process is that I had to insert the safety eyes before I decrease stitches to small opening, that means I started to insert the eyes when I reached round 9.The eyes supplies store is closed till early Jan 08, so I am not sure if I am ordering from that store, when they finally reply to my email, I may just get more safety eyes in variations and the future dolls may just be using safety eyes.Copyright © 2006-2007 Simple Arts Planet. My work schedule is full until next month. I just completed these little devils, and I have quite a handful of orders on hand to complete.All my online shops are now put up with shop announcement that new orders will only be sent after Christmas; this date will be revised accordingly with the numbers of orders received and completed.I doubt there will be any new designs from now till I am back from my holiday break from 01 Feb to 15 Feb. The 3 Crafters Met Up!

Ruth of Sparkle Thots , Cindy of Starry Designs, and I met up at Dome today for an early lunch. We had been chatting online for a while, and this was our first official met up in reality.This is Ruth, I looked silly because it's a second take (Ok, I am silly too). If we both looked tired to you, trust your eyes, we were really tired!!!Cindy and I look rather refreshing eh? We had our dose of tea and coffee earlier, we headed out to hunt down starbucks so that Cindy can get her dose of Green Tea Latte. She just came back to Singapore yesterday, so she was in serious jetlag! Snooky, The Harmless and Innocent Baby Snake

With Snooky's birth, I am finally completed with the 12 Chinese Zodiac Animals. Just a little small changes here and there. The Horse is replaced with Donkey; Sheep replaced with Goat (well, in Chinese, it's really known as Goat, but when it's recorded in the western style, it is the Sheep).I am definitely pleasantly pleased with Snooky. It's been a long putting off since I last developed the idea of creating the 12 animals. I didn't expect myself to be able to create a snake. I had seen snake plushie, but some are just too scary.Snooky has a really innocent look. Jullie of Seraphina was on MSN with me earlier. I am very flattered by her compliments on how easy she finds following my patterns. She also feedback that her friend had purchased some patterns online and to her disgust and astonishment, the patterns were incomplete.It is not the first time Jullie has told me how easy and detailed my patterns were. I shared with her how SAPlanet Amigurumi patterns started this journey.When I first started out with Amigurumi exploration, I was filled with excitement, like a kid, I bought several patterns. I got stuck in the middle of a doll pattern, and I convoed the seller for advice, just to get a reply that I was not the only buy who encountered this same problem, she promised that she will get back to me. I have not heard from her since... I waited for almost 1-2 months, and decided to convo her again, but she stopped responding to me. NoNo, The Unconventional Dinosaur

This is the design that took me 3 days to complete. NoNo, simply refuses to be completed in the standard procedure!Let me recount the 'obstacles':Obstacle 1First, I did NoNo's head, and moved on to make the body, the body didn't fit the head!!! I have been designing patterns, and I have at least over 30 designs, I can't believe I couldn't get the body right. How distressing!Obstacle 2I decided to continue on day 2... and blamed it on the super stormy day. Finally, on day 2, the 'momentum' flowed in... Then, the camera ran out of battery!!! Ok, no worries, I though, I still have another camera which has 2 batteries, then, both batteries are not working!! (It must be because of not using it for a long time). I still have my 2 megapixel camera I though, then, the picture was really not ideal. What luck??Obstacle 3So, the project dragged on to day 3. Just normal wasting of yarns while trial and error, but nothing to dramatic, just that, NoNo has the most trials!I am just relieve...

Changes made to pattern listing images

If you have visited my etsy shop recently, you will find that the images for pattern listings have changed. All the images for patterns now have a small corner banner that reads 'Pattern '.This is to avoid any problem that buyers may misunderstand that the listing is intended for the finished doll.No doubt, I have stated clearly on the first line of the description that the listing is for the pattern, and the finished doll is listed separately. However, recently, Amy of Melbangel was bugged by a buyer who bought her patterns, and when the patterns were sent to her via email, the buyer replied to demand for a refund as she thought it was the finished product she was purchasing.Amy has stated that it is a pattern, but this still happened. When Amy shared this incident with me, I was flabbergasted. Amy is a very nice lady whom I had referred buyers to her shop, her fine workmanship is impressive.What audacity to request for refund of a digital item?!!!??? Frankly, I would not refund f...

We are featuring the finished product, but will NEVER share the artwork.Suannie is probably the most wedding stress-free bride I have met. Recently, I have experience some unpleasant experiences with some buyers, pertaining to copyright issues.A particular buyer purchased my pattern and attempted to translate the pattern into her native language, when she failed to edit my pattern, she simply uploaded the file up in the web for anyone's retrieval. This post is however removed now, as I had written to the hosting webmaster and the buyer stating my rights over my patterns.Other incidents include sellers pretending to be pure buyers and modify my patterns for resale. Clearly, patterns are painstakingly designed in such a way that there are some vital steps that must be retained in order to keep the design as it should be. Do not assume that no one will ever know that it's modified simply by changing a little bit here and there.I am not all so successful in sales, but I do have very good and loyal buyers who hold great integrity and respect towards original designs. Angie and Elvis .The truth is, I had meant to have the angel boy named as Ango, but after I did the sideburns, I changed my mind, boy, he sure reminds me of Elvis Presley. So, the story goes that Angel Elvis is a great fan of Elvis Presley, so he keeps similar hairstyle as his idol.I am very pleased with these lil angels. It was sheer dumb luck again for the wings. I have been 'pressured' by my regular buyers of new patterns. I know I have slowed down with new pattern designs. Trust me, many crafters would wish for a time stretching machine when holiday season is approaching.Just a hint on what my new design(s) is/are going to be. One is completed, happily waiting to be launched, but I am not launching until I tried another one, I sure hope it's a success, so that 'she' has a partner to celebrate the Christmas. Basing on my own drawing, I am designing this couple in crochet dolls.The Angel Girl is a success, today I am going to work on the boyfriend, and I really hope that I am able to do it. I am especially excited about this project, because I have done this series of Angel couple series since early last year, and I am even using this couple in my own wedding invites, stationery and favors. This information will be included in my Shop Policy and all listings of patterns.All patterns in my shop are painstakingly designed and created with time and effort. Apart from the exisiting 'No Reselling, No Redistribution' of patterns, I am adding new clause that 'No Translation from English to another language' for reselling.Legal action will be taken against those who infringe this clause.I have seen some people ripping off 'out-of-production' foreign language pattern book and have them translated into English and pull off profit from the credit and hard work of the designers/publishers. I do not condone to such doings.I do not object sellers listing the published book for sale as commercial supplies. They have paid the due fee to the publisher/designer, they are merely taking a small profit out of the raised price. Finally! I have built my own estore! It is not as comprehensive as those you may find around the www. I know I have the osCommerce, I have the shopping carts etc, which is offered free to me by my domain host.The problem is that it's way too complicated for someone like me who have only very simple knowledge of some html and javascript.I am using PayPal shopping cart, but I managed to toggle around with some other features just to tweet to my shipping or discount needs. Then again, it's just very simple features.Some of the supplies prices are calculated with the shipping fee; to factor in the shipping price helps to provide some savings to buyers.I am using a general shipping fee mainly catering to International buyers. Fortunately, our local shipping carrier - SingPost, doesn't has very complicated shipping calculation.I hope to add in more stuffs to the categories, but for now, I am going to plan for my new design.
