Sierra de Castril
2007-07-14 20:12:00 Sierra de Castril. Go to Andalusia !! It is a very beautiful place. The variety of landscapes is amazing. The region is made of many small sierras, whith their own character. This place is 100 km from Jaen and completely different. I remember the end of that day perfectly. The light was so unique. The mounts majestically towered over the plain, where the olive woods strewn in the middle of the grass. The immensity of the fields gleamed and dansed under the breeze and the sunset. Here and there, poppies gave a delicate touch to the whole scenery. More About: Sierra
Jaen
2007-07-14 19:55:00 Olive wood in Jaen region. In eastern Andalusia, the region of Jaen is well known for its production of olive oil. My friend Florent and I travelled around Andalusia for ten days. We passed through that region, where in some parts we saw nothing but trees, trees and trees.

Puerto Montt
2007-07-14 19:46:00 Puerto Mont t. August 2003 Puerto Montt is a fishing port where I could eat fabulous sea shells and fishes. The sea mist and the smell of pines trees in the morning made this place so mistic to me. More About: Puerto
Puerto Montt
2007-07-14 19:33:00 Puerto Mont t. August 2003. Puerto Montt is in South Chile. It is the starting point of many expeditions to the fjords and glaciers of Tierra del Fuego. In the "Lonely planet", they said there was only 60 sunny days in a year. I remember arriving at the bus station during a gloomy rainy night, straight from Santiago. When I woke up the day after, the sun was rising on the coloured wooden houses. Four days long, the sun shined so much that we thought we were in summer, whereas it was winter season. The day I decided to go to the archipelago of Chiloe, the weather was rainy again. This kind of signs are so strong that, even years after, you still have in memory the sensations and feelings you experienced at that time. More About: Puerto
Santiago de Chile
2007-07-14 19:21:00 Santiago de Chile . August 2003 Impressive view on Santiago de Chile from the Cerro Santa Lucia. When we flew above the Cordillera, the weather was so bright so that we could see hundreds of kilometers to the North. Even at 9.000 meters of altitude, the mountains seemed very close to us. Petrohue Volcano
2007-07-03 23:03:00 Petrohue Volcano Thousands of miles to the South of Chile is the city of Puerto Montt. In that region, many ranches, water falls, lakes, pine tree forests. Very similar to Switzerland in some ways, as a Suissian man told me. But the volcanos more. The exact contrary of north Chile obviously. I love both sides of Chile. More About: Petr
Chile, from North to South
2007-07-03 22:53:00 Atacama Desert. Death Valley. August 2003 After one month in Peru, where I could save money thanks to the very low cost living (for occidental turists like us of course), I decided to go back to Chile , which was my country of departure. One amazing place is the Atacama Desert. I remember going to the Death Valley late in the afternoon in order to take pictures of the sunset. It was an hour from the village of San Pedro de Atacama. I decided to bring my camera, a bottle of water and a flashlight. The way on is easy : you take the first dusty street going out of the city you find towards the valley. You cross a road and a piece of desert and arrive an hour after. To take this picture I had to climb a big dune, where people do sandboarding. Actually, the sunset was not beautiful on the other part of the cliff (in my back when taking the photo) and the desert was very windy. But this place was ideal to have a view on the valley and further on the volcano. On the right you can... More About: North , South
Cape Trafalgar
2007-07-03 22:26:00 Cape Trafalgar You certainly know Trafalgar Square in London. But do you know the place where the British decisively defeated a combined French and Spanish fleet in 1805 ? Here it is, during a beautiful sunset, the day of our epic session. Many surf spots around, all reef breaks, not very powerfull, but really clean. More About: Cape
Fernando

Spanish friends
2007-07-03 22:10:00 Spanish friends Here are some friends I made in Spain four years ago. From left to right, Alejandro, Alberto and me. Alberto had a lot of "guaza", like many andalusians. It means that they love making jokes about people, especially foreigners, but affectionately, not mischieviously. He was a very good surfer too, like his brother Alejandro. That photo was taken at the end of the epic session at the Pequeña Lulu. In february at 5 pm, as usual in Andulusia, the sun is still so bright. I love that place. Pequeña Lulu
2007-07-03 22:04:00 The Pequeña Lulu . February 2003 Perfect Day in that reef break which never works bigger and cleaner. Located near the Caños de Meca, the wave needs a big swell (6 feet, which is big for Andalusia). A fun wave. We were only friends together. I surfed so much during the day, that I decided to take pictures at the end of the afternoon, even if is was getting better.

Zahara de los Atunes
2007-06-25 23:52:00 Zahara de los atunes. February 2003 During another week end on the occidental coast of Andalusia, I surfed a 3 feet beach break in the morning. Nonetheless, my session was interrupted by an old man waving at me on the beach, saying "Come back". He said to me, very furious: "Don't you see there is a fish hook in the water ?". "Of course not" I answered. "Fifty centimeters under water, there is a fifty meter long line of fish hooks", he added."Which kind of ?", I asked . "Tuna hooks" he said. I was horrified. Of course I knew this area was known for tuna fishing. But normally, putting hooks under water is strictly forbidden and no sign here alerted me. But that's how things are in some villages in southern Spain. They don't care about the law, because it is their beach. It didn't matter for me, the waves were not so good.
