Can a Writer Make $1,000,000 Per Year?
2007-11-16 22:56:00
If you think about it, writers have the upper hand in business. Right now you might be slaving away freelance writing. Maybe you're making $100s per job, maybe you're like most of us who make a fraction of that. If you have writing skills and you want to make more money, listen up! I know of plenty people who are making six figures per year and a few who are making $1,000,000+ per year with their writing skills. They started off as plain Jane writers. Why do you have the advantage over businessmen with other trades? As you probably know, pro blogging is hard work, so I'm not going to jam that down your throat like everyone else. Quick note: The disadvantage of blogging is that you're still doing everything, the writing, the advertising, the selling, and all else. None of your work strategy is automated or does it normally involve a degree of capitalism. If you're just blogging, it's almost certain you won't make it to the big leagues. I mentioned capitalism just now. ...

John Reese has Declared a BlogRush Holocaust, Dropping 10,000
2007-10-22 21:02:00
John Reese 's BlogRush began with a bang! By that I mean, the video on the front page was great. The product on the other hand drove little traffic to users' blogs, including one of mine. Today I received an e-mail from Reese saying that BlogRush has covered new ground (JR's doing all he can to keep his highly acclaimed internet marketing name). The BlogRush team has removed 10,000 non-quality blogs from the program. "You will notice the HUGE DIFFERENCE in the quality of blogs that now appear in your widget. This major *sweep* of our network will also increase the click-rates across the entire network and you will start to receive more traffic. I'm not trying to be a pain in the butt cheek, but I don't think this is going to improve BlogRush all that much. Well, it could possibly send 4 visitors to my site instead of 1 each week. BlogRush is a great idea. The only problem is no one's going to put their widgets at the top of their blogs. I'm surprised Reese did...

Buy PLR to Keep Your Kids Off MySpace in 5 Simple Steps
2007-09-17 23:25:00
"Provide Bread and Water to the Famished and Get Paid!" I'm offering private label rights to my original 2,355 word report "Keep Your Kids Off MySpace in 5 Simple Steps ." Since the hit show "To Catch a Predator," the everyday family has been aware of MySpace being an online landing spot for sexual predators. Parents everywhere are concerned for their young ones, with talk of banning their children from the social site. A pedophile can find kids on MySpace in a week flat, sometimes less. I think that says it all. Try as parents might to keep their kids' videos, personal blogs, names of schools, hometowns, pictures of friends, and birthdays away from the eyes of millions of obsessively insane pedophiles, the truth is, children are using MySpace behind their parents' backs. This computer-sophisticated generation knows everything about accessing MySpace while covering up their tracks. Kids know how to delete browser histories and even use proxies to access MySpace (and any b...

Everybody was Kung Fu Blogging!
2007-08-06 20:27:00
Hiyah! In traditional martial arts, a beginner is given a white belt. As the fighter trains in the dojo overtime, the belt turns colors from dirt and grime--white, to yellow, orange, green, blue, brown, then black. Once reaching black belt, the martial artist washes off the residue and is once again a white belt and repeats the belt system. Blogg ing has been a similar experience for me. When I started in 2005 (after dropping out of college for Creative Writing), it was like I was given a white belt. I wanted to make some money online, so I climbed the ranks quickly, learning about all I could, and applying it at my "blogging dojo," a.k.a. my empty apartment living room. Sometime around winter of 2006 I felt I had reached black belt blogger status. I believed I had mastered the basics and common advanced techniques. Little did I know I had much to learn. I didn't think so, but now I know I was still a grasshopper. I returned to my dojo with a fresh white belt to go through ...

Dear Newb, this is What Blogging is Really Like
2007-08-04 16:16:00
All over the internet, blogging is glamorized as an easy way to make money online. The cold-hard truth is that it's not so simple. According to Technorati the blogosphere doubles by millions every six months. A new blog is created every second. Even though over half of those blogs are splogs, spam blogs... When you surf the internet, nearly every blogger will be timid about how much money he makes. Unless the blogger has picture proof, you can assume this blogger makes only enough to pay for his web hosting. I don't claim to make a living blogging, just a profit. There are very few who actually do make $30,000+ a year with their blogs in the grand scheme of things. I work a 40-hour a week day job and 20+ hours a week blogging and working on my websites. That's around $2 an hour for me. No spankyou. However, I enjoy working online and the potential for earning is endless. I realized this when I made my first .10 from AdSense. I don't think they're are enough warnings o...

So, You're Thinking of Starting A Blog, But Aren't Sure about It
2007-08-04 14:23:00
Guest post submitted by Ashok Karra at Rethink. 1. Why Blog ging is Unlike Anything Else You've Experienced To blog is to be part of a media unlike any other. Television, radio and print media do not encourage viewers or listeners or readers to jump in and start their own shows. But most bloggers get their traffic from other people who blog or who participate so heavily in other online activities - like social bookmarking or forums - that the art of blogging is almost like learning to be a celebrity looking for admiration only from other celebrities. It makes perfect sense that the only common ground among bloggers is a coin with two faces: there's the side you're going to see a lot of if you start a blog, the side where general advice about blogging itself is given. Then there's a side not unrelated to that side, but gets way more technical and intricate - it's the design/tech side, which is always pushing for something beyond mere blogging, and which very few people on the w...

SiteGround agreed to give me a 5-day extension, and do what they normally don't do, and allow me to pay for one month of hosting for $9.95. I'm psyched. The deal will still be on until August 9th. Short but Good Run
2007-08-03 21:11:00
Hey everyone. This blog had a short but good run. Looks like I'm going to be losing my 15 websites hosted at SiteGround by tomorrow. Sucks but oh well. I still got ole GoldenProse.com. My entire run with SiteGround has pretty much been an experiment anyway. I cringe at the amount of money and effort I've put into these sites, but I'm not going to think about it anymore. In a month or so I'll come back stronger than ever because I'll have learned. For those of you whom I've made friends with this past month, I'll talk to you sometime soon. Looks like my e-mail address is going to be gone too. Tomorrow eRevenue Select will be no more.

The Andy Kauffman Blogging Method
2007-08-02 23:59:00
Andy Kauffman would have been a hell of a blogger, right? People would love him, hate him, but they would read anyway, much like the Howard Stern effect in talk radio. Andy Kauffman himself stated that he wasn't a commedian. "I haven't told a joke in my entire life," he said, yet in his time he was considered one of the top commedians, always appearing on Saturday Night Live. The phenomenal thing about Andy Kauffman, I think, is that he was all about delivering an experience. I just want real reactions. I want people to laugh from the gut, be sad from the gut-or get angry from the gut. -Andy Kauffman What can we bloggers learn from Andy Kauffman? Remember Kauffman's "Foregn Man" act? "Hello, I am Meester Carter, de President of de United States. Thenk you veddy much." Right when the audience reached their threshold of boredum or empathetic embarassment, Andy Kauffman would do something outrageous like break into an Elvis performance (as in the movie Man on the Moon). Rememb...

I made friends/acquiantences with these bloggers because simply, I like talking to other bloggers. Blogg ing can be more boring than listening to Enya. Also, I'd like to say I've had some blog-related benefits from networking with these bloggers. My Blogger Buddylist Bryan at One Man's Goal published a post about my recent dilemma. Josh at Make Money Blog was willing to help me with beta testing. Ben at Blogging Experiment linked to me. Jason Mosely at Mr Baconpants has been teaching me the fine are of baconography. Forgive me if your name wasn't added. I've talked to so many different bloggers this month that it makes my head spin when I think about it.
