How to Schedule a Blog Post
2007-07-17 12:45:00
I have scheduled many, many blog posts. In fact I’d say about a quarter of my posts are pre-scheduled. What will usually happen is that a burst of creative energy will hit me, and I’ll suddenly write 2-4 posts. But rather than post them immediately, I spread them out for your reading pleasure. There are other good reasons to schedule posts including: Having posts appear when you want to take a vacation. Creating a “reserve” of posts in case you have writers’ block. Timing your post to appear at hours you don’t won’t be at the computer (or possibly even awake) The last one, timing, has also been a huge benefit. I write this blog primarily on the West Coast of the United States. That means that if I post an article at 10 AM, it’s already 1 PM in New York. That means I lose a half a day of providing fresh information. But I recently decided to schedule blog posts (such as this one) to appear very early in the morning on the West Coas s...

Review Me
2007-07-16 22:37:00
I’m going to start a weekly post of reviews of this blog. In it I’ll discuss the extent to which I agree or disagree with the review, and link to the reviews themselves. So if you’d like your blog to appear on the front page of this blog, write a review. If I spot it (or if you let me know), chances are I’ll write about it. ---Related Articles at One Year Goal .com:Weekly Review ReviewLast Review Review of the WeekReview Review SupplementHow to Make Money with Affiliate ProgramsAdvertise
Why Your Feed Should Be a Full Feed
2007-07-16 19:09:00
Recently, a reader named Paul asked the following question: Hi, I must be missing something, but I don’t understand why sites use RSS and let people read their entire post in an ad free environment. Of course that’s fine if you are a non commercial site, but if you are trying to make money from your blog… I’d love it if you could help me understand this, because it’s always puzzled me. Everyone does it, so it’s got to be me who is missing something. Cheers, Paul. A compromise might be to just publish a teaser to RSS so that people who want to read your full post have to go to your site. But then again most sites don’t do this either. Paul, that’s a great question. There are several reasons why a site, especially a blog, should use Full Feed RSS. Here are the top 5. Your Readers Want Them: People really don’t like having to switch programs or click links to get to your content. As a result, they’ll like your site less. People Browse: Just because your...
Get a Prime Placement Text Link for Just $1
2007-07-16 15:22:00
UPDATE: ONLY ONE LEFT!!!! Dear Reader, I’ve been working hard on a new way to monetize blogs online. I’ve finally finished a beta version and my readers get to be the first ones to use it. To the right of this post there is a box marked “Featured Sites”. Below it there is a link that says “Your Site Here - $1&Prime ;. Click it. Once you do you’ll see a price next to each slot on the board. That’s the minimum amount required to get that slot. Enter your site’s name, url, and amount, and click submit. Once your payment has been cleared through PayPal, your link should appear assuming you bid higher than the minimum amount required to be listed ($1 as of the time of this post). Your link will stay there until enough other people bid high enough to replace it. So the higher you “bid”, the longer your link is likely to stay. Your site could be listed there indefinitely. If you have any trouble, or notice any issues, please Commen...

If you don’t know what RSS is, fear not, I’ll post a tutorial soon. If you do, you need to subscribe to the RSS feed using the buttons in the sidebar. Why? Instant Notification: You’ll find out when I post a new article before anyone else. Previews: I’ve been having trouble scheduling posts for when I went out of town this weekend. This post is a scheduled post for example. The RSS readers got to see at least two of them before anyone else because of my scheduling difficulties. My Blog. Your Terms: Subs cribing to the RSS lets you view the blog in your own program, no matter which one you like to use. You can read it side by side along with other (less worthy) blogs, without having to head to http://www.oneyeargoal.com Best of all, it’s free! So what’re you waiting for? Commenting to Riches
2007-07-14 18:32:00
First of all, I hope you’ve sent your dating question to casanova [at] iamcasanova.com. If you haven’t, get on it. Everybody knows you can advertise your blog through adsense. Most of you know you can advertise through blog comments. But how effective could it be? Very. Almost every effort I make to publicize this blog is through comments. So chances are if you were one of the 318 absolute unique visitors who came here yesterday, or the 400+ I expect to visit today, you found me through a comment. Why do I love blog comments so much? You Learn New Things: To write a good comment, you have to read, or at least skim each article. If you’re reading every article that appears on 10-20 different blogs, you will learn something new. I’ve learned a lot. Not Intrusive: Blog comments aren’t even advertising. They’re a comment on somebody else’s posts, usually praiseful (why read a bad blogger’s post?), that happen to mention your site. Effect...

A Call to……Ask?!
2007-07-13 21:50:00
While I work on the Casanova eBook I’ve decided to create a FREE email list in which I’ll give advice to readers. This will help me fine tune the book to my audience, and will let you know that I’m the real deal before you buy my book and recommend it to friends. Before I can create a mailing list, I’ll need questions to answer. Now I know everyone who reads my blog is an intelligent person. You must be if you’ve opened your mind to life outside 9 to 5 (or 8 to 6 nowadays) and are dedicated to improving your life. The problem is that when it comes to dating and relationships, knowledge counts more than intelligence. Week 1 Goal Check
2007-07-12 22:43:00
The blog is blowing up! This week’s traffic statistics aren’t accurate because I started the blog on July 4th, 2007, but didn’t get Google Analytics up until the night of July 5. But trust me when I say I’m not complaining. Traffic (for the last week): Visits: 736 Page Views: 1,782 For the first 7 days of a blog’s existence, these numbers are great - and they’re only going up. Each day the visits seem to increase by about 50%. If you guys are enjoying the blog, click the “Share This” button and send it to your friends. I’ll publish financials beggining Week 3. ---Related Articles at One Year Goal .com:Week 3 Goal Check Week 2 Goal CheckThe Thing About Multiple Blogs…What makes this blog different?Review Review Supplement

2007-07-12 18:50:00
Sorry for the delay guys. I had a bit of a medical issue and had to go to the doctor last night. Things have fallen a little behind schedule as a result. I’ve decided to add a new feature: the weekly status report. I’ll let you guys know how far along I am and you can post ideas you have to boost things along. It’ll be today, and every subsequent Thursday. Each week I’ll write about the accomplishments of the previous week. Look for it soon! ---Related Articles at One Year Goal .com:No related posts

What do you want?
2007-07-11 23:05:00
Today marks one week since I first set out to make $100,000 online in one year. I’ve learned a lot, the blog has grown a lot, and I’ve put a few dollars in my pocket. I know I still have a long way to go, and it’s up to you to help make sure I’m heading in the right direction. So my question is, “What do you want?” What do you like about this blog, and what can I do to make it even better? ---Related Articles at One Year Goal .com:No related posts
Cracking the GMAT
2007-07-11 18:07:00
I just took the GMAT this week, and scored in the 99th percentile. Not one to pass up a business opportunity, I’m thinking about offering an online GMAT course to help people improve their scores as well. The question is, would people be interested in taking an online course to study the GMAT? -One Man  PS If all goes well, I expect to have the monetization widget up by tommorow night. If you haven’t yet signed up for Text Link Ads, stop reading this and read my previous post. Those of you who have: thank you. It won’t give me credit until 7 days after you guys put their script on your site (the script just lets advertisers buy ads), but judging by the number of clicks my link got it seems like a lot of you have signed up. I can’t say I blame you. You’re supporting a good blog, and you’re about to make a lot of money yourselves ; -) The monetization plugin is almost ready, I hope to have it done by Friday. It’s going to be awesome. In addition, it’ll give you a way to put your link on my site for just one dollar. You guys can start commenting again by the way : -) Thanks for the support. -One Man ---Related Articles at One Year Goal .com:No related posts

Text Link Ads Endorsement
2007-07-10 18:23:00
Many of you remember the weak review I wrote about Blogging to the Bank. I wasn’t enthusiastic about it because quite frankly it was a good product not a great product. Text Link Ads is a great service. I’ve used it on my blog since day one. Even if I never make a dime from links people buy on my site, the affiliate program is so great it’s worth having. For each reader (this means you!) who signs up to Text Link Ads  as a publisher through my link, Text Link Ads will pay me $25. In addition, once you get your blog approved they’ll pay you $25 for each blogger you refer. So the real question is, why not use it? If you want to show your support for this blog, don’t even comment. Sign up for Text Link Ads instead and let’s make some money together ; -) I’ve had Text Link Ads on my site from day one, and if you don’t have it right now, I strongly recommend you get it. Why are you still reading this post? Sign up now! -One Man ---Rela...

Next Idea
2007-07-10 02:22:00
Well, it looks like the life changing idea will have to be put on hold. I’ve just thought of a wordpress plugin/widget that can help people monetize blogs like crazy. I still have to work out a few details and take the GMAT, but I should have a prototype up on my blog by Friday. Stay tuned.  The life changing idea is a dating eBook. Shockingly original, I know. But that’s one department in which, for better or worse, I’ve already made my (figurative) $100,000 in way less than one year, and I’d like to help other guys (and gals) do the same. I’m going to approach dating from an entirely new angle that will require much less work and effort for the reader, and will improve his entire life, not just his love life. What I need from you guys is a name.  Right now I’m torn between CasanovaU.com and IAmCasanova.com. Or is the whole Casanova approach too tacky? Sound off on the comments!  -One Man ---Related Articles at One Year Goal .com:Get Start...

How This Blog Was Born…
2007-07-09 04:42:00
A daddy blog and a mommy blog met at a party….one thing led to another and….mystery solved In all seriousness, I am not flat broke. OK, well I am flat broke but I don’t feel flat broke because I’m a college student, and that seems to be the norm around here. But I’m not so broke that I don’t get enough to eat, or don’t have a place to stay. I don’t need money right now, and I probably never will if I work hard. So why create this blog? Because the only ways I’ve been taught to make money involve bartering time and freedom for cash.I give up 10 hours a day 5 days a week of my life, and you give me enough money to live. I never take a vacation longer than a week or two and you’ll let me keep sacrificing my freedom for your money. It’s almost tempting to stay in school in order to delay this pseudo-slavery. If only school didn’t cost money….  The internet allows people to work from literally anywhere in...

3 Simple Rules for Seducing Blog Profits
2007-07-06 22:47:00
As some of you may know Blog ging to the Bank beat Rich Jerk by a landslide in the user poll taken yesterday. So I took a crash course in blogging to the bank. The book is very short, very sweet, and very simple. In fact the first 30 pages were so simple I was sure the course would have nothing to offer someone who had already set up a blog. The author holds your hand through the process of getting hosting and setting up your blog. But as I read on I realized there was a lot more hidden in the second half of this “simple” book. I highly recommend you get it whether you know how to set up a blog or not. If you’re an advanced blog marketer this might not be the book for you. But if you’re just getting started like me, or even if you just want to get more traffic to your blog, you need to get Blogging to the Bank today. Without further ado, here are 3  Simple Rule s for Seducing Blog Profits that I discovered in the book. If you want (a lot) more, grab a c...
Why start a business if you aren’t passionate about it?
2007-07-06 15:56:00
I recently received the following comment on my last post… So you are 22 years old and you’ve already given up on working a real job? Just because you worked at Blockbuster at 16 and found it un-fulfilling doesn’t mean that you can’t find an interesting, meaningful job after you leave school.Real entrepreneurs, the ones who end up making millions and gracing the front of Forbes, didn’t start companies because they were sick of their jobs. They did it because they were passionate about the product/service they were building. Let me ask you one question. When trying to set up these “on-line marketing systems” are you going to truly try hard to produce a quality service that will provide value to people? Or are you just going to try to snipe ad money and flood in-boxes? I can’t think of one example of a successful entrepreneur who started his business by saying “OK, I don’t want a job. What sort of business should I start?” But on the other hand, maybe you ar...

Rich Jerk or Blogging to the Bank?
2007-07-06 04:56:00
Since the best idea posted was to sell soccer balls, and I don’t think it’s a viable first business, I’ve decided I’ll try one of the many get rich online courses out there. I’ve narrowed it down to either Rich Jerk or Blogg ing to the Bank . Rich Jerk is a general marketing and online business book supposedly written by an online millionaire. Blogging to the Bank is a book on how to make good money with online blogs. I’m leaning towards this one since it’ll help me monetize this blog and might give great marketing tips for whichever online business I start. Which one I do depends on you. Independence Day
2007-07-04 10:14:00
As every American knows, today, July 4th, 2007, is our nation’s Independence Day. This blog was created to celebrate freedom from opression, and so I could not think of a better day to launch it than the 4th of July. Many people are satisfied working a 9 to 5 job - more like 8 to 6 nowadays - bringing home a decent salary, keeping a roof over their heads, and the cable bill paid. I’m not most people, and if you’re reading this blog, neither are you. I’m a graduate school student who is tired of spending my life chasing someone else’s deadline and doing someone else’s work. I started working for other people when I was 16 and I have to be honest: it’s not that exciting. Maybe I just haven’t met the right boss, but I don’t think that’s the case. I’ve had some pretty friednly bosses. There’s just something about working for yourself that makes the time fly by, and makes every ounce of “work” excit...
