Mancation: a no women party.
2008-05-10 15:29:00 Just a few days back I have come across a new term- Mancation. This is the name given to the felling when men find themselves pulled between their secret desires and an attack of conscience. One can find solace in the fact that most men think along the same lines. So what?s a male only vacation about? Well ask any man and he will answer the same way. It is all about engaging in sports, camping, gambling, chasing women and most of all drinking. There should be no wives, mistresses or girlfriends. It allows men to get in touch with their male- primal roots. This word was supposed to have originated by Vince Vaughn in the film THE BREAKUP in which he splits from his partner and wants to get away without his female friend. Though one cannot say that this was the actual origination place of the word but one thing is for sure that MANCATION is the latest buzzword in the tourism sector. Also this concept has travelled very quickly from Hollywood to India. When asked men partying in no wo... More About: Women , Culture , Party
POWER CUTS- WELCOME SUMMERS
2008-05-09 15:17:00 Summers are here and like yester years, once again entire nation is all set to face power cuts. One of the major shortcomings of our system in this season. This would apparently add to the other existing problems during the season like water shortage, mosquitoes, malaria & dengue. With a joint venture of NTPC-SAIL commissioned in Bhilai in the month of April for an added 250 mega watt of supply. We are yet to see the months of June and July when the heat would be at its peak. God knows what would be situation. Though the Power minister said that the government has a target of adding 335 MW of power for the month of May. Government is monitoring closely the targets of May to ensure there should be no backlogs. Officials acknowledged that for yet another month power generation is set to fall short which raises concerns about the ever widening gap of demand and supply of power levels. The government though set a 310 mega watt capacity in addition to the existing levels fo... More About: Culture , Cuts
CONTROL INFLATION PLEASE!
2008-05-08 17:39:00 The major challenge the Government o f India is facing today is the inflation. Though the growing economy of the country has withstood higher rates of inflation in the past and anything like 7.5% is not a great trouble if it did not precipitate even a higher rate of inflation tomorrow. Most importantly, there is no time for pulling each other?s leg as to who is responsible for this situation and who must accept the blame as is the situation in the political arena of the country. The economic growth of the country and the welfare of common man have to suffer heavily if the situation remains the same. This crisis may turn uncontrollable if appropriate measures are not taken that too in timely fashion. RBI other than the measures like controlling liquidity and suppressing demand should look how to raise the confidence of the investor and reverse the expectations about continuing inflation. The first cause which is constrained supply, which actually is controlling liqu... More About: Finance , Inflation , Control
CONDOTELS: A NEW CONCEPT
2008-05-08 17:35:00 How would like to own a hotel? Can?t afford it? No problem- what about owing a room in a hotel? If this prospect sounds interesting, here?s the low down on the concept of a Condotel. A relatively new phenomenon that is fast ?catching fire? in realty circles, as a safe and secure ?investment?, Condotel are as good as any commercial hotels, but are jointly owned by a group of people whose stake is usually limited from 1-2 rooms in that hotel. So, a 300-room Condotel could have as many as 300 unit owners. It works like this. A company normally decides to come up with a Condotel and launches the project to the public. It then invites investors to won a stake by purchasing rooms in the hotel. Condotel units are generally sold during the pre-construction phase of development. They are often built on prime locations, such as facing a beach or in the heart of a city and often in places where the flow of tourists is really high. The difference between a hotel and a Condotel is... More About: Culture , Concept
ARTICLE 370: IS IT STILL IMPORTANT?
2008-05-07 17:35:00 It has been more than 60 years since independence of India; this state has been accorded a special status under Article 370 of the Indian Constitution. Yes, we are talking about Jammu & Kashmir. It is this article which originally granted an unprecedented degree of autonomy to India?s only Muslim majority state. This article confines the writ of central government to defense, foreign affairs and communication only. It also has the power to permit the state to determine which feature of the Constitution of India could be extended to it. This article still remains a matter of debate to rest of India. For some it is inevitable and desirable to erode the provisions of Article 370.Since the first State assembly ratified in 1954, the accession of Kashmir to India, so there is no reason to maintain the status quo. They hold it mandatory for the integration of the country. There are some that hold government should respect the wishes of the populace there and should not ... More About: Indian History
A LOT HAPPENED OVER CUP OF COFFEE.
2008-05-07 17:30:00 More than just a drink- that?s what coffee is. For that first date of a hesitant Indian teenager, it has long been an excuse. For the intellectuals of 1970?s it was a fuel, who raised storms over injustices committed, brought out anti- bourgeois literature and consecrated to change the world. All this happened over a cup of coffee. A life style statement, drinking coffee is a wifi- connected chill zone where you have to 10 times more than what the cup actually cost. This is because in the new culture of disposable incomes and shrinking spaces, social life is measured in coffee spoons. The habit of coffee drinking was restricted to the beans growing areas only in the country which primarily has been a tea- drinking nation. Smell of leaves brewing instead of beans mixing owes thanks to the colonial lineage which resulted into the lack of coffee culture. With 80,000 tonne of annual consumption of coffee in the country, per capita consumption in India is only 80 Gms. ... More About: Culture , Coffee , Cup of coffee
THAT STAGNANT REVOLUTION
2008-05-06 17:04:00 In 1966, India was besieged on another front, almost an year after the war with Pakistan: daunting food insecurity, worsened by the failure of monsoons. With food grain imports, mainly from the US, spiralling to 10 million tonne, India was forced into a ship-to-mouth existence. India imported 18,000 tonne of wheat seed from Mexico, which turned self-sufficient in wheat production by the late ?50s by growing dwarf, high-yielding varieties of the grain. 2.5 lakh bags of 10 kg each were transported by road to Punjab and distributed before the Rabi season of 1967. Two Spanish varieties, Lermarojo and Sanavra-64, were sown across the state. Market arrivals leapfrogged from three lakh tonne to 16 lakh tonne in April 1968 as farmers reaped a bumper crop of wheat. The schools were being shut down so that their buildings could be used to store the produce before distribution to food grain deficit states. The green revolution marked the deliverance from food imports and Punjab?s soci... More About: Food , Revolution , Indian History

One thing which I think everyone forget to look at is the rule book which I am sure would surprise the players and the viewers equally since this new format of the game has some strange rules clubbed with it.
