October 15= Blog Action Day
2007-10-16 08:24:00 Ok just a little bit late, but Monetizer didn't want to forget to mention October 15th was Blog Action Day. The concept involved getting as many bloggers as possible to blog about ways to save and protect our environment and the Earth. The official Blog Action Day blog made mention that at least 5,000 blogs had done so, so let me make it 5,001. The Monetizer would like to present some appropriate sites and articles on these very subjects. Many of these ways which include saving or conserving energy will save you money. Useful tips for bloggers and computer users are to turn your computer off when it's not in use, keep lights and other appliances you don't need off, and do not leave the bathroom faucet running while brushing your teeth. These small things will go a long way if enough people can get into the habit of doing them. Here's 3 articles to check out as well:Time Magazine's 51 Ways to Save the Environment101 Easy Ways to Save Energy50 Quick, Painless Ways You C...
Contests & Prizes Galore!
2007-10-15 15:00:00 Ok don't get too excited, this is not about a contest from the Monetizer (yet) but from other people online! That's right, one cool thing Monetizer has noticed is how generous other blog sites like to be in giving away stuff like the iPhone, iPods, Nintendo Wii's, Blog Designs, Cash and more! Some of them even win stuff from one contest, then just turn around and give it away to someone in their own contest..Smart thinking! RockNRollSolo.com has a win a 16gb iPod touch contest going on until November 12th. The iPod Touch is a pretty nifty piece of technology complete with a you guessed it, a touch screen. You can flip through album covers for your music, watch videos or movies, check out your stored pics, and surf the internet all on a 3.5 inch screen! It has a gift avalue of approximately $399. To enter this one, just head over to win a 16gb ipodtouch at rocknrollsolocom and follow the rules! There's a big bad blogger battle going on between blog legends, Shoemoney and Joh... 3 Essential Pages Your Blog Needs
2007-10-15 09:30:00 Here's 3 essential pages to include amongst your earliest blog posts/entries. If you're just starting out it's a good idea to start your blog with these and make sure you have them linked to on all of your blog pages, posts or entries (in the top navbar, the sidebar or wherever you may choose). The 3 Essential pages to have in your blog:1) About Me Page - This basically could and should be your first ever blog post/entry. It is where you define and set the topic, theme and tone for your blog. Establish its overall theme or topic so that readers can easily discern what you will be blogging about. Tell the reader who you are and what you have to offer here. You may want to list interesting facts about yourself and your background as well as how you became interested in the topic of your blog. Make it creative or humorous. Feel free to use a 10 question Myspace survey as part of it, if that helps give readers insight and ideas about you. The "About Me" helps readers connect w... Make Friends at BlogCatalog!
2007-10-14 07:05:00 The Monetizer found a great tip on the very cool blog dayjobnuker.com which is helpful to those rookie and startup bloggers looking to get some instant traffic, new readers and subscribers. Monetizer mentioned joining mybloglog.com and blogcatalog.com in an earlier post, and dayjobnuker has also recommended it. The cool thing is you can add friends on both of these nice little blog sites daily. MyBlogLog allows a max of 15 friends to be added each day. However, BlogCatalog allows UNLIMITED friend adds on a daily basis. So basically you can head over and join BlogCathttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link .gifalog if you haven't yet. Submit your blog(s) and await their approval because you want them visible when people stop by your profile. While you wait on that, make sure to fill out the profile, including relevant details about you or what your blog's about, as well as the other social sites that you belong to (Digg, BlogLog, etc).Once you've had your blog(s) approved and they... Navigating the Blogosphere
2007-10-13 11:33:00 A few points to cover here today for all bloggers and site owners. The main theme here (related to the recent Columbus Day holiday) is navigating the rough waters of blogging and blogs in general.First off, Monetizer mentioned 5 favorite blogs here which deal with Money Making, PPC, affiliate programs, marketing and better blogging. They are inspirational, but shouldn't be consider the ultimate blogs or moneymaking law. There's a ton of blogs out there on the subject of blogging better, SEO, making money, affiliate programs, advertising, etc etc. There's plenty of people out there who are creative and have great unique ideas for you to consider. So don't stop at just a few blogs who may be considered "top in the game", because you may very well find some of the hidden gems on lesser known blogs. Most likely if you blog, you also enjoy reading others' work. Get familiar with as many related blogs as you possibly can, and engage in discussions and comments with the blogs a... Don't Spread Yourself Too Thin
2007-10-12 14:32:00 A valuable lesson from The Monetizer today about managing your time and projects. Last night was spent updating a blog that has received little to no attention from the Monetizer, because honestly it doesn't receive the traffic or make the money other projects do. In fact, the Monetizer tries to keep up with 6 blogs, which can be quite a task! The noticeable thing in doing this is that you may start to give more attention to one blog or site you run instead of others, losing RSS subscribers and potential fans. You'll also neglect doing the things necessary to build your blog up into a solid brand and could eventually self-destruct in your money making campaign! The best practice is to have a game plan, and make sure you're giving the necessary attention to each of your projects, whether it be separate blogs, sites or money making ventures. The term "project management" fits well, because you really need to prioritize and decide which of your campaigns and efforts should get t... More About: Spread
The Monetizer's Latest Strategies
2007-10-11 06:43:00 The Monetizer is going to start giving more and more praise to a recently discovered site by Courtney Tuttle all about Internet Marketing, SEO, blogging and Making Money Online. A post of hers from a few months ago contains this great list of blog sites where you can leave a comment and your URL link will be an active link. Why is this important? Because the more other sites you have linking back to your blog can help things such as your Technorati ranking and possibly your Google/Search engine ranking. When commenting on blogs, remember for the comment name field to use your blog's unique keyword name or title, not just your own name. For example "Digital Photos Made Great by Ralph" or "Best SEO on the Internet" or whatever keyword/title you are trying to get search engine love with. In the URL field, simply use your blog's URL link (for this blog it is: "http://themonetizer.blogspot.com") You can also use a link from an older post or relevant post you've done to the blog... Adsense Videos & The News Room
2007-10-10 21:19:00 Two new interesting developments in video advertising to discuss today. First up is Google and the introduction of Adsense into YouTube videos. When you log into your Google Adsense account now and go to the "Adsense setup" tab you'' now see the Adsense video choice. In order to use this feature you will need to have a YouTube account set up. If you don't already, when you click on Adsense Videos choice it will bring you straight their to create a free YouTube account/profile. After that's set up, you'll need to enter a few brief pieces of Adsense info (Publisher ID, your name, zip, etc).Once you have merged Adsense and YouTube accounts, you'll be able to create your video player. One Adsense video player is allowed per web page. You get the choice of 9 color schemes and 3 different size players raning from small, to gigantic. Adsense ads display above and below the player itself. You're also able to choose categories for the videos to display on your site or type in y... More About: News , The News
Intro to Google Adsense 101
2007-10-10 03:14:00 Monetizer first learned about the benefits and possibilities of Adsense about a year ago, and decided to purchase a great book about it The AdSense Code: What Google Never Told You About Making Money with AdSense by Joel Comm. By then Adsense had already been used and abused for success by many people either blogging or running their own websites. Adsense still remains one of the top choices for monetizing your blog, and despite the fact Google can yank your account down at any time with no reason provided, it seems to be a smart choice for the beginning blogger to use. In fact, Blogger.com allows it to be easily integrated into a blog by using their widgets. Here's a quick look at what Adsense is and how it can work for your site or blog. What is Adsense?Adsense is a contextual advertising program. You sign up for the program and once approved you go about selecting the size, color and style of ads to display on your website or blog. Google will "crawl" your site's content t... Turn Struggle into Success
2007-10-09 01:45:00 The John Cow blog (parody blog of JohnChow) has a recent guest post by Ephran Taylor entitled "You Have Nothing to Lose". The post is a great motivational piece about making the decision to start your own business and the things you need to succeed with that endeavor. Money making online, should you give it your all, could provide a fun and very rewarding experience which in turn lets you enjoy your life to the maximum.Monetizer wants to speak about one concept: that often the biggest success comes from those who are failing or struggling. Some individuals have hit rock bottom or very close to it. They are doing everything and anything to get by. And then out of nowhere, inspiration combines with their hunger and their overall will to succeed. Presto! A big multi-million dollar idea or business is born!A few examples come to mind for these situations. One example is tthe struggling and starving artists, such as painters, musicians, and film-makers. They are doing what they c... More About: Business , Motivation , Success , Turn
The Agloco Mystery
2007-10-08 00:42:00 Agloco seemed to become the latest rage on the internet months ago. Many people still try to promote it as a big potential moneymaker these days, when in fact it really hasn't made any money and doesn't show any signs of it yet. The concept was Agloco wanted everyone to "own the internet" by surfing the web with their tracking device (Viewbar) and referring friends to do the same. They promise if Agloco's member base gets big, you'll be getting payed. So far, all signs point to $0.00.Monetizer joined Agloco about a year ago, and waited and waited and waited. Monetizer promoted Agloco to some people here and there with no word on what was going on with Agloco. Finally, a limited edition Beta Viewbar was released for download. Monetizer did the maximum 5 hours of surfing for several months, but has nothing to show for that or the referrals invited to Agloco other than the stats. The account shows hours surfed and members referred to Agloco, but no dollar signs. The big myst... More About: Mystery , Myst
A Quick Look at Paid Surveys
2007-10-06 20:47:00 Paid surveys are yet another money maker online, but are they worth it? The major knocks on paid surveys tend to be: 1) The surveys can usually take you a ton of time to complete for very little in return (sometimes a dollar or less for completion); 2) Some programs ask for info such as name, address, phone number, email and then use those to provide you with lots of nice Spam and junk mail from their site or others.3) Some sites ask you to pay to join or pay for products or services to review. Despite these issues, some free survey programs online can give you interesting research to participate in and some nice extra money or incentives just for sharing your opinions or feedback.Currently, The Monetizer does just 1 survey style program, Cash Crate. It's very laid back as you can log in to take surveys at your leisure on a daily basis, trying to qualify for up to 2 per day.Monetizer has contacted a few people on social media sites to find out which survey programs they like to u... The Monetizer's Squidoo Push
2007-10-05 14:50:00 It's not a new dance, yet. It's more of a campaign the Monetizer started over a week ago. The experiment is to see how well a Squidoo lens page can do in terms of promotional value and making money. Sometimes you have to experiment with new ways to promote your blog or site and make money. While Squidoo isn't really new, it was untapped fully by Monetizer until this latest trial. With a little bit of smart marketing and promotion (trying hard not to Spam), the lens has moved up to rank #122. The cool thing here is Squidoo maintains a "Top 100" page. Getting onto that page may have some nice benefits! So if you'd like to help the Monetizer succeed a little, feel free to stop by and give a visit:Make Money Online with The Monetizer SquidooMonetizer will also be working to clean up the categories/archives section for this blog, to make it better organized. How Not to Save on Your Rent
2007-10-05 13:00:00 It's Friday so here's some random stuff for kicks. Monetizer caught this piece of wacky news on CNN Headline News yesterday and decided to dig up the story online for anyone who might have missed it..It seems to deal with ways you shouldn't try to save money. From wftv.com:"What would it be like to live at the mall? The leader of a Rhode Island artists' cooperative has been placed on probation for trying to find out -- by illegally living inside a secret apartment set up in a parking garage at the Providence Place Mall.Michael Townsend and other artists started building the apartment nearly four years ago inside a void in the parking garage. The apartment eventually had a sectional sofa and love seat, coffee and breakfast tables, a rug, paintings and a video game system. The artists built a cinderblock wall to disguise their hideaway. The Monetizer's Money Makers
2007-10-04 22:49:00 In the world of online money making it's good to have many options so that you can supplement and grow your income. In some cases, you can join a program, forget about it and come back to a nice surprise. These are the programs that Monetizer uses and recommends to make money online:Google Adsense - The granddaddy of them all. Adsense allows you to match text or image ads to your site content and then pays you based on page impressions or clicks of ads. Also offers referral style ads for Firefox, Adwords, Adsense and custom search boxes for your site/blog.Pros: Easy to implement and format according to your blog or site needs. Great reporting features allow you to track how different ads do on your blogs or sites. Adsense also offers referral programs for Firefox, Adwords, Adsense and now offers mobile and YouTube ads as well. Very versatile and usually the best moneymaker for many sites.Cons: One recent gripe with Adsense is their payouts for clicks seem to be decreasing l... More About: Money , Make Money Online , Makers

2007-10-04 16:05:00 The Monetizer already gave major props to John Chow in a previous post, "The Monetizer is a Fan of John Chow". 10 Commandments of Money Maker Blogs
2007-10-04 01:57:00 Disclaimers: The Monetizer is not God. The Monetizer does not worship money.A saying that Monetizer has heard before is "Do as I say, not as I do". This reigns supreme as you stop by this blog, which as noted before is an all-out experiment in money making. The blog is on Blogger, a free blogging service, but Monetizer wants to move on up, if you catch his drift. The Monetizer will hope to one day move off this basic Blogger platform into the higher realm, of self-hosted Wordpress blog sites with stylish designs. However, the Monetizer has been taking notes over the past year of blogging, learning from mistakes and successes.Check out these 10 blog commandments below, which the Monetizer presents to those who want to make a serious foray into the business of blogging for money:10 Commandments of Money Maker Blogs 1) Thou shall have your own blog/site hosted. Get WidgetBucks for More Money
2007-10-02 19:34:00 Leave it to monetization master John Chow to discover and unveil yet another great new way to make money online, known as Widget Bucks . After reading Mr. Chow's post, Monetizer decided to head over and sign up for an account just for kicks. Mainly because it looks like it could be something to replace either Auction Ads or Adsense with. However, it probably would not trump Adsense earnings in any sense, unless your site is really about promoting certain products (mp3 players or music, books, dvds, family products, sports items etc). The way WidgetBucks works is by placing a graphics style banner on your site (various sizes) and then you receive money based on clicks (not sales). Very similar to Adsense. It's yet to be determined if this program is ok to run on your site with Adsense ads, as Google can be quite picky! The minimum payout for WidgetBucks is $50, similar to Auction Ads. Also similar to Auction Ads, they are giving you an automatic $25 in your account to start thin... Master the Squidoo to Make Money
2007-10-02 17:25:00 The Monetizer set up a Squidoo page a week or so ago as another way to promote this blog and earn some extra money. Results of having a Squidoo page or pages are not proven, but some "lens masters" on the site are claiming to make some nice loot. With Squidoo you choose the topic for your "lens" or page and then go to town creating content for it. Squidoo makes it relatively easy as they provide you with Modules for your page. You pick and choose from things such as text areas (where you can also add HTML code), Link lists, RSS feeds, Amazon product lists, Ebay auction lists, Guestbooks Polls and more. Get a feel for the Monetizer Squidoo here.A few quick Squidoo concepts to understand:"Lens" refers to the Squidoo page you set up. It's your piece of free internet real estate on Squidoo. Reinvest Money Made Online For More Money
2007-10-02 15:18:00 One concept which makes quite a bit of sense to the Monetizer is taking whatever earnings you get from any online venture, and putting that money back into ways to help you make even more money. It's one of the key aspects of any successful business; reinvest profits to make the business grow even more.$100 is the lowest amount you need to earn on Google's Adsense program to get payed. For AuctionAds it is $50 (they are giving you a head start halfway there with $25 in any new account). A social media site like Gather offers you the potential to earn $50 and more, and Cash Crate offers you a minimum $10 payout for a month. Here's some ways you can take $100 or less and reinvest it to help promote and grow your blog/business. These ideas relate to buying yourself more exposure and advertising, or improving your blog/site, which in turn can attract more visitors and subscribers.1) $100 plan - Buy a Million Dollar Wiki or Euro page - Million Dollar Wiki has already sold 1012 pa... How to Get Rid of Blogger's Block
2007-09-30 23:30:00 Do you ever find yourself stuck for blog or article topics? Often times, we choose a topic we are passionate about and set up a blog but there are those days we just can't come up with a thing to write about. Those are the days it's best to have a backup plan, or ways to find inspiration and ideas. Here's 10 ways to come up with blog, journal or article material:1) Check out and join a forum related to your blog topic or category. This serves a few purposes, one is you see what they are discussing there (hot topics). Secondly, you are able to promote your blog in the signature field whenever you comment a forum topic.2) Join a social media site (Myspace, Facebook, Gather). Look for groups and people who have interests related to your blog topic. See what they might be discussing in the groups or forums on those sites. Pose a question to people on the site and work with the responses. YouTube is another example where you might find an interesting video related to your topi... More About: Block
5 Reasons to Harness the Power of Social Media
2007-09-28 17:00:00 Monetizer spoke a bit before about using various social media sites, such as Myspace , Facebook, Gather, Squidoo and Yuwie for monemaking and promotion. These are just 5 of many, many more Social media sites. They provide a great source of traffic and new subscribers for your blog, or regular visitors to your website. And while you may have the funds to buy advertising with Google Adwords, Text Links or elsewhere, you may want to look to social media as a very cost effective (FREE) way to advertise your site or blog. Here's 5 reasons to consider using Social media for your promotional and monetization plan:1) Millions of users are using these sites - Myspace, Facebook and Orkut.com realize large amounts of traffic on a daily basis. They rank among the top 10 most traveled websites on Alexa's ranking system. With the popularity of these and other social media sites, they provide important and large additional traffic sources for your blog or website.2) Find target audiences easi... Important Lessons: Domain Names & Blog Topics
2007-09-28 11:30:00 John Chow has a great recent post called "How to Brand Your Blog ". In the blog entry, one of the first points he makes is "Get Your Own Domain Name" and I couldn't agree more. The Monetizer has done several other blogs and has seen some do better than others. Due to not having enough funds, most were built on Blogger or Blogspot. Reason being, blogger was quick, easy and free. However, Mr. Chow makes the great points about the fact that if your blog gets popular and big and you decide to move it, you're gonna lose out on link love and search engine help. In addition, you really can branch out with a domain name. First you have the blog, but then it will offer you the possibilities of adding a forum, or adding other pages to expand upon your blog. There's a lot of websites built using Wordpress blogging platform, it's just hard to tell. They have unique designs and are technically done with Wordpress blog software, because it's easy to make updates to their site materia... More About: Domain Names , Topics , Darren Rowse
The Monetizer is a Fan of John Chow
2007-09-27 17:01:00 You may have come here from the blog of the make money online legend himself, "John Chow ". Or perhaps you've never heard of this guy until now. In fact, The Monetizer just learned about Mr. Chow this past year, most likely by a random web search that landed on his page. If you asked most random people in the street, who is John Chow, they probably would have no clue. But in terms of the internet and blogosphere he's been highly successful with this make money blogging thing for a while. So who exactly is this John Chow guy?John Chow is a self-proclaimed "dot com mogul" and a legend in the make money blogging world. He is the editor in chief of techzone.com, a company which reviews and sells hardware technology. In addition to that, John also blogs about making money online using various advertising techniques on JohnChow.com. He has a large fan base of readers/subscribers as well as a large income generated by his site. He regularly publishes his blog income reports, and in ...
New BlogRush Features Unveiled!
2007-09-27 14:53:00 The Monetizer is not here to pitch Blog Rush as the greatest thing since sliced bread, but so far it seems the widget and the features are expanding. Here's some of the nice recent changes they made at BlogRush:- Widget flavors - BlogRush used to only let you choose a black widget on your blog. Not too useful or stylish if your blog employed a certain color scheme. Now they give you "flavors" to choose from. Monetizer chose Watermelon, you can see it in the lower left column..Yummy!- Post filter - This is a very powerful tool to prevent BlogRush from displaying specific posts you make as headlines on other people's BlogRush widget. For example, maybe you just did a blog post to claim your blog on Technorati (it's rather basic and simple). Or you added a post to say you'll be on vacation for a few days. You probably don't want readers landing on your blog to see those sorts of things because they might not stick around for more (or even click them on another widget). Blo... BlogRush: Crime Fighters & Blog Saviors
2007-09-26 17:15:00 Since the Monetizer installed the Blog Rush widget not long ago (less than 2 weeks), it's brought a total of 5 clicks for about 6,000 impressions. That's not entirely that impressive, but the Monetizer has been patient for a few reasons.1) The widget is in Beta, so that means tweaks will be done to get things right and make it work better. 2) Most of the top bloggers are sticking with it and haven't ditched it yet, so it makes some sense to give it a try while these guys are still using it on their sites. 3) The brains behind the BlogRush widget have been pretty good with email communications if there's troubleshoots or problems going on or new features being worked on. A perfect example is that an email arrived to Monetizer early this AM with quite a bit to report! The email from John Reese, Founder of BlogRush assured members that their stats showing on the member dashboards have been severely under-reported and that you're really getting more traffic then what is shown (... Stop Procrastinating, Start Blogging
2007-09-26 11:27:00 Checking out some articles on the Gather site (a friendly community you should join), there was one saying that today is National "Anti-Procrastination" day. It's amazing how many holidays exist nowadays. In fact there's at least 3 for each day of the calendar year it seems. Monetizer did a little research trying to find out more about this and couldn't find confirmation that today is the day. A web search determined that there's a Flylady who blogs about each Wednesday being "Anti-Procrastination" day. She also does "Tackle it Tuesday". The next logical choice that Monetizer would like to coin is "Make Money Monday", but that could become a tongue twister. The point here is that we shouldn't procrastinate in the things we want to do to be successful. It may be related to your health, diet, job, debt, or whatever you choose. In this case here, it would be setting up a blog or website, and starting to get it going. Or if it's already up and running, finding new ways to... Get Paid to Blog with PayPerPost
2007-09-26 09:30:00 The Monetizer has found another way to try to monetize and increase profits from your blog, known as "PayPerPost". PayPerPost is a program that operates on a simple concept, in that they provide opportunities to write paid blog posts. You sign up for free, add your blog information and wait to be approved. According to their guidelines, the PPP staff takes a look at your blog's Alexa and Google rankings among a few other things to determine if you meet their criteria. Once you're approved, which could take several days, you are able to start accepting various Marketplace opportunities, which pay anywhere from $5 up into the $200 range. According to PayPerPost's front page some of their top bloggers earn a nice income in the thousands. A recent scan of opportunities showed there were mostly opportunities in the $5 - $30 range. One cool thing is if you are approved for PPP, you can take the 1st opportunity to simply blog about their program, spreading the word to others. Th... The Monetizer is far from an expert and is constantly researching and learning new concepts to use in blogging, promoting and making money online. To stay on top of your game and find new ideas, it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with some of the best bloggers and money makers online today. Here's 5 blogs in particular that the Monetizer enjoys:1) John Chow - A very inspirational online money maker, he blogs about the ways you can make money online and provides his monthly earnings each month on his blog.
