Waiting for Ximmy to Show Me the Money..
2008-06-04 17:37:00
The Monetizer is patient, but when it comes to websites paying up, I like to see them do so as their FAQ state. In fact if it's money we earned through our efforts, it should be payed to us in a timely manner. After all, bill companies don't let us decide when to pay, or else we are assessed fees. Some affiliate sites online are iffy when it comes to payments, so I want to share this cautionary tale. For example, Ximmy, a site like Digg that pays, offers the following for affiliates:When do I get paid? You get paid once you generate $25 worth of commissions. Payments are made once per month (the 1st of the month) for the previous month.Simple enough right? The Monetizer has hit the threshhold for a payout in May, but has yet to see it come through. The 1st of June was of course a Sunday, and many businesses don't operate then. That's all fine and dandy, but you'd think that payment would show up the very next business day, Monday. No show from Ximmy. This is just a minor...

The Secrets of the Millionaire Mind
2008-05-30 19:41:00
Several posts ago the Monetizer revealed the 17 distinctions between rich and poor people, as written by T. Harv Eker in his excellent book. Eker's book "Secrets of the Millionaire Mind " is designed to put you right into the mindframe of a rich person. The basis may seem similar to other books on the subject with the motto "Think Rich, Get Rich". After all, people who think money is a problem and controls them, will have a very hard time getting rich. In Eker's book he outlines the various distinctions between rich and poor people and the end of each of them gives you some homework to do. For example jotting down phrases your parents used to say about money. Some parents might have thrown around phrases like "money doesn't grow on trees" or "you think I'm made of money?", and those impact how kids view money as they age. So if you get the book, consider getting a notebook or journal to accompany it. Eker provides sound advice towards saving in terms of setting up various...
Buy & Sell Blogroll Links at Blogrolled.com!
2008-05-29 22:00:00
The Monetizer usually tries to stay away from copycatting other make money online bloggers, but learned of Blogroll ed.com from my daily email via John Chow's blog. The concept behind Blogrolled.com is pretty cool as it allows you to sell Blogroll links on your blog without the fear that Google often brings about. You could also use it to find good blog sites to buy link love for yourself. The beauty of Blogrolled.com is they are doing their best to help bloggers avoid Google penalizing them for selling links. In the past there's been issues with bloggers who used ReviewMe.com or PayPerPost , because they've been required place links from various websites in the review posts. Therefore sales are made and the blogger who sold the blogroll link must manually put a link into their blogroll, no code required. Other bloggers or advertisers simply search through the listing of blog sites offering links, and choose which ones to purchase, for a monthly flat rate. Not a bad idea to ge...

Get Smorty's New Contextual Ads!
2008-05-22 14:47:00
Although The Monetizer is signed up with Smorty's blog program for some other blogs, it's not something I've implemented much, here or there. However, I received this interesting email announcement from the folks at Smorty today regarding a new contextual advertising program you might want to add into your website and blogging mix:Dear Smortians,We have an exciting new feature! Digxa Mini Stores.Publish contexual click through advertising on your blog with Digxa Mini Stores. Entrecard Offers New Features & Credits!
2008-05-21 03:31:00
The Entrecard system continues to update and expand, which is a great thing for all us bloggers. There's been some great recent changes made including the recent "add a blog" feature. This gives bloggers the ability to add multiple blogs to one account. You can then divy up credits amongst them for easier, more efficient ad campaigns. Previously you would have to set up separate accounts for each blog you own, then log-in and log-out to do your advertising campaigns. It's much simpler to switch back and forth between blogs now. Right now Entrecard is giving away 75,000 credits as well. They will be awarding 15,000 credits to ONE lucky blogger in each of these five different blog owner categories:2-5 blogs in account5-10 blogs in account10-15 blogs in account15-20 blogs in account20-25 blogs in accountThe above credits will be awarded to the winners on June 25th.In addition, Entrecard recently released a free Entrecard ebook which anyone can download with helpful info about ...

Using RSS to Get Deep Links
2008-05-20 06:41:00
Every now and then I get inspired to work a bit on my Squidoo lenses and update them. As you may or may not know, The Monetizer is a huge fan of Squidoo because it's yet another free to use, free-hosted web real estate you can set up to make money. It can be a great passive source of income if you put in the groundwork. Squidoo is also invaluable in terms of promotion of your blog, affiliate links, referral links and much, much more. While I was poking around Squidoo I came across a great leans which discusses using RSS feeds to gain deep links back to your Squidoo lenses. Of course, you can take this logic and also apply it to your own blog or website with its RSS feed. If you've burned the feed on Feedburner or another RSS site, you can start submitting to RSS directories and adding your feed to several other places. If you have 1 blog or multiple blogs, consider setting up Hub Pages, Squidoo pages and even a Quarter Wiki page or two if you can afford it (they cost just a qu...

Learn from the Cow vs. Conn MMO Battle!
2008-05-16 19:59:00
Controversy creates cash is a famous motto someone once said. The more controversy you create, the more interest is generated in you or your product. Take for example the brutal sports entertainment known as professional wrestling, such as WWE. They constantly try to push the limits of stories in their brutal male soap opera just to gain more viewers, ratings and people buying their merchandise and monthly Pay-Per-Views. So it's really no surprise that the blogging world uses similar tactics. Bloggers aren't necessarily competing in steel cage matches, but have a close equivalent of them in the blogosphere, using written wars and blog-based competitions. In fact, many bloggers swear by the concept of calling out other bloggers just to stir things up. A-list bloggers also realize the potential for a good blogging battle. Take for example the battle of John Chow vs. Shoemoney. The two powerhouse bloggers had a challenge to see who could gain more RSS subscribers during thei...

Make Money Online with a Rich Jerk!
2008-05-15 21:39:00
I gotta admit, this guy's quite a character, just like the Monetizer. After reading the Rich Jerk's stuff I was quickly hooked on it for several reasons. First off, he pulls no punches and cuts to the chase, with valuable online moneymaking tips. He doesn't baby the people who write in complaining they can't make money on the net, instead he tells them like it is. Secondly, he's highly entertaining with an obnoxious style of humor that many will enjoy (and some may find repulsive). You'll get several chuckles out of what he has to say all while learning how to bring in the bucks. Nobody wants to learn money making in a boring, dry way, as the MMO blog arena is already flooded. So basically the guy makes money and entertains people all at once. His site sports pictures of yachts, sports cars and beautiful women.. Must be quite the lifestyle to lead! Some people may be put off by Rich Jerk, who blatantly admits he doesn't care about other people. He still takes the tim...

Make Money Online with Linkshare!
2008-05-13 19:30:00
The LinkShare.com affiliate program is a recent favorite of the Monetizer. It provides such a variety of companies that there's bound to be one available for your specific blog or website. Categories of affiliate companies range from Family/Kids to Computers, Financial Services and Food/Beverage. So no matter what you're blogging about at the moment, there's bound to be an appropriate program you can add into the moneymaking mix. Here's several of the benefits of the Linkshare affiliate program:1 - Huge variety of affiliate programs - Everyone from Apple to Apple iTunes to Walmart and Dell is part of Linkshare. You're very likely to find at least a few programs with products you can promote on your website or blog. Another great example is the Kayak.com affiliate, which could be great on a travel website or blog since they offer all sorts of Travel Deals. Each program has specifics on what they pay you for, as some pay for leads and others pay a percentage to you for ...

17 Bookmarking Sites that Dofollow You
2008-05-12 21:14:00
The Monetizer uses the great website resource Socialmarker.com quite often to help spread the word about various blog entries and also help with getting link love. This plays a huge part in getting noticed by search engines like Google & Yahoo. I've noticed within a day sometimes that a blog entry I submitted to Socialmarker's sites as well as a few other places gets to the front page of Google search results. Not too shabby. Here's a list of sites you might want to join, because according to Socialmarker these "Dofollow", meaning your links will have relevance and power on their sites. These can provide you with great links back to your content which can help increase page rank and your chances at being discovered.Without further ado, here are the bookmarking sites that Dofollow:Mister-wong.comSpurl.netDiigo.co mRawsugar.comFurl.netBackflip.comBibsonom y.orgMyjeeves.ask.comConnectedyBuddy MarksMyLinkVaultA1 WebmarksmyVmarksOYAXBookmark TrackerHealth RankerLinkagogo.comUtilize t...

$7.49 Domain Names!
2008-05-11 05:57:00
If you want to add that professional look to your free-hosted blog site then you should seriously consider adding a domain name (www.yourblogname.com). I was reading the blog of Scott Fox over at Amazon.com. Scott is author of Internet Riches: The Simple Money-making Secrets of Online Millionaires. On his blog he mentioned InternetMillionaireDomain s.com (yea it's a mouthful!) Currently at their site they offer a rock bottom deal: domain names for $7.49. This is about $2.50 cheaper than Go Daddy and many other sites selling domains. They aren't just $7.49 for one year either, you can get that deal for up to 10 years! At GoDaddy.com where I've purchased domains before, you can get domains to start for $1.99, but only if you also purchase another product, like hosting. But after your first year, you'll pay the going rate for your domain which is closer to $10 for each year. The $7.49 domain also includes FREE STUFF: Online Photo FilerPersonalized Email AccountWeb Site Builder...

Saving and Earning Money with WaMu!
2008-05-11 03:01:00
During the last Monetizer entry, the topic of "paying yourself" first was discussed. This included investing as well as putting money into interest-earning bank accounts. Today I want to discuss Saving s Accounts and CD's which are available at WaMu. A savings account is a great idea for things like putting aside money for a rainy day, or to save for a fixed amount you need, say for a car or house downpayment. A Certificate of Deposit or CD is an even better way to save that money, with a few caveats. The Monetizer browsed WaMu's banking site, which helps you decide on the proper account to open. It costs just $1 to start a Savings account at WaMu. Applications can be done online and your account can be managed via the internet as well. There's plenty of choices for ATM's you can use, should you need to pull out money in the "real world". The Monetizer tends to enjoy online banking as you can actually make sure your bills get payed the way you want them to. Sending a chec...

Pay Yourself First!
2008-05-08 21:24:00
Something that a lot of us tend to overlook is the concept of "pay yourself first", which is a big recommendation many financial experts make. We all spend hard-earned money on ourselves but that money isn't really ours. It's being payed to a hair stylist, babysitters, the movie theater, a restaraunt, etc etc. Paying yourself first means making sure you have money put aside which is all yours, and turning into even more money. I want to cover two things I've done in the past that are great ideas for "stockpiling" your hard earned money and making it work for you!1) High interest Money Market or Savings Account - There's a lot of these accounts online that you can check out. In the past I've used two different ones. Netbank and now ING Direct. The interest rate right now is down due to the economy. It's close to about 3% or less, when in the past it's been 5%. It should recover as the economy does. This MMA can become your "emergency fund" or savings fund for that ho...

The Monetizer's Mom now has a Blog!
2008-05-06 21:37:00
It's funny how whenever you mention to any person not familiar with the blogosphere or making money online, the idea that you can make money online, they become stunned. Multiple questions are raised and the wheels start turning..."How does that work?""How do you do that?""They really pay you?""Is it LEGAL?"Most recently included in the naysayers and non-believers was the Monetizer's own mom. After explaining some of the concepts weeks ago, specifically Google Adsense, out of nowhere mom declares "I need to start a blog". And so my mom now officially has a blog, which of course Monetizer has assisted with. Mom doesn't realize that blogging does take effort and work. If you could just throw a blog up with Adsense and be a millionaire, you wouldn't be reading any MMO blogs.. Anyways, with Mother's day approaching I feel this blog will be a gift that "keeps on giving", as it already is turning a profit, with minimal traffic. Now for a bit of the background on Mom's niche b...

My 1st DealDotCom Deal
2008-05-05 23:32:00
The Monetizer was recently keeping an eye on "Deal DotCom" just waiting for them to offer me a deal for relatively cheap, such as $5 and under. Mainly I wanted to see how good the deals are, and if it had the resell option, I figure it could more than pay for itself. The deal I purchased just yesterday evening was a $4 e-book about how to use forums for generating traffic. A basic concept, but I figured if it had at least one valuable nugget of wisdom, it'd more than pay for its cost. If nothing else, it did have that re-sell option and I could turn to eBay or elsewhere to make back the purchase money.Nothing against DealDotCom, but I was a bit disappointed by the "deal". It was a 16 page e-book (PDF) which had a lot of already known info. It's a good reference for newbies to the game of getting traffic to their blog or site, but if you've been at this a while it doesn't give much. At this point, it'd be hard for The Monetizer to re-sell because it's not a product I woul...

17 Principles of the Rich & Poor
2008-05-01 17:38:00
The following principles are derived from T. Harv Eker's book called Secrets of the Millionaire Mind: Mastering the Inner Game of Wealth (pictured above). They spell out the type of beliefs that separate the wealthy from the poor. You may agree or disagree with some of the items posed. Contemplate these and ask yourself which side you fall on for each. 1. Rich people believe "I create my life." Poor peoplebelieve, "Life happens to me."2. Rich people play the money game to win. Poor peopleplay the money game to not lose.3. Rich people are committed to being rich. Poor peoplewant to be rich.4. Rich people think big. Poor people think small.5. Rich people focus on opportunities. Poor people focuson obstacles.6. Rich people admire other rich and successful people.Poor people resent rich and successful people.7. Google PageRank - From Hero to Zero?
2008-04-30 19:34:00
Say it ain't so, but Google has made a recent Page Rank update which helps some, hurts others. Much has been blogged about the latest updates, with John Chow recently discussing those who benefited. Several high profile bloggers have gone up to 5's and 6's. Several bloggers penalized for doing PayPerPost and other sponsored reviews went from 0's to 3's. It appears as of today, the Monetizer who once enjoyed a PR of 3 has been "Google-slapped" as they call it, right down to the 0 mark. I take all rankings in stride, even this PR one which is quite important. Page Rank is Google's view of the importance of your website, blog or individual pages within them. While I respect Google for its search engine traffic, Adsense, Analytics, G-Mail, and other great features, this drop in rank won't defeat The Monetizer. Most likely this is due to taking on more paid reviews, but let's face it, we all want to get paid right? Recent logins to PPP have revealed more "gray opportun...

Make Money with Entrecard & eBay!
2008-04-29 20:36:00
Oh no, it's another Entrecard article! Well this has an interesting spin to it, in that you can actually profit from your "hard-earned" Entrecard credits. Basically there's been plenty of sales of the EC's done via the leading auction site online, eBay. Smart bloggers now realize that purchasing these otherwise free credits can help them establish their blog through cheaper advertising. Time is money as they say, and who really has the time to go around dropping their card off on 1,000's of blogs? Check out some of these recently ended eBay auctions:View the latest Entrecard auctions on eBay.Apologies if the image makes the prices hard to read...But, as you can see you can make money off those "free" Entrecard credits you can accumulate by allowing others to advertise on you, or by dropping your card, or having others drop it on you! There's no word on how long these will be in demand on eBay, but advertising costs people, so why not buy it in the form of EC's? This way...

Browsing the Coupon Code Mall
2008-04-28 21:32:00
Today The Monetizer would like to take a look at a niche blog site I feel has great potential for success. Coupon Code sMall .com is a site that has just what the URL says, it provides its visitors with great shopping deals online via Coupons. It's a blog set up as a website to provide anyone who drops by with the latest in online coupons and discount deals. The site includes several categories including Amazon, GoDaddy.com, BestBuy.com, Sony, MacMall Computer coupons, Jewelry and cameras. There's even a search engine on the side for Amazon Deals as well. The site is updated regularly which is helpful for attracting traffic and keeping visitors around. A recent example is "Canon Digital Camera: EXPRESS, SHOOT AND SHARE" which reviews one of the best new camera offerings from Canon. While the site does offer some great coupon deals, I felt it was lacking a bit in its site appearance and layout. Some may disagree with me here, but there are many web users who are visual rather...

As the Twitter Tweets Twhirl...
2008-04-27 05:02:00
About a week ago The Monetizer realized he had gained about 35 followers on the fun website called Twitter . Twitter is the site that poses the question "What are you doing?" then gives you a little box to type about 140 characters or less about what you're doing. These little updates you send are called "Tweets" and friends on the site interested in what you have to say become your "followers". You can post your updates by the Twitter site, IM apps, or even your cell phone. Twitter has been proposed by many internet marketers and bloggers as a great tool for promotion and getting new ideas for your blog. John Cow even proposed in a recent blog entry that it could be more up to date than RSS feeds for notifying people of your new blog posts. While 35 followers isn't a ton (some users have 10's of thousands of followers), it's a decent enough number to make the Monetizer want to use Twitter even more. So I decided to create Twitter accounts for a few other blogs I run, just to...

John Chow's 10,000 Entrecard Credit Contest
2008-04-25 03:22:00
In a previous post I noted that John Cow is giving away a Xbox 360 Elite and GTA 4 to one lucky raffle winner. Now I find out of yet another contest, with John Chow giving one lucky winner 10,000 of his saved up Entrecard credits. With 10,000 EC's you could do a lot of advertising, or go shopping in the EC store for things like banners, EC card logos, gift certificates, e-Books and other cool stuff. Right now, Chow's blog is priced at 1,000 credits to advertise on, so you could get yourself onto his blog, or some of the other more expensive blogs to advertise at. According to Chow, Darren Rowse's Problogger is up to 4,096 credits to advertise (wow I got in early on that one!)I know a lot of people who come through to the Monetizer's blog like using Entrecard, so be sure to check out John Chow's 10,000 EC credit contest here if you haven't already.Like Digg? Win Xbox 360 Elite + GTA4 from John Cow!
2008-04-24 20:12:00
The Monetizer just had to get in on this cool contest run by John Cow and sponsored by Top Hosting Center. Up for grabs in this one is the much-coveted video gaming system, the Xbox 360 Elite. And to make it even sweeter you'll also win one of the coolest new games dropping at the end of April, Grand Theft Auto IV. If you're familiar with the series, the game involves stealing cars, running pedestrians over, eluding the police and doing bad things to win strategic missions. You know, all the stuff you would only do in a video game! :)In case you're wondering what's different about an Xbox 360 Elite, one major difference is the black color (as seen in the picture), just like the original Xbox. Technically speaking, it includes HDMI Port, HDMI cable, black wireless controller and a black Xbox life headset. In terms of technical features, it has 16:9 cinematic aspect ratio for DVD's and games, anti-aliasing for smooth textures, full surround sound. and 3 powerful core proces...

Going Beyond Bedding

This may seem off topic for the Monetizer, but I wanted to take some time out to review this website Beyond Bedding which offers comfortable prices for your Kids Bedding. After all, saving money is a big deal these days with the way our economy is in the US. This also may give others some food for thought for how they proceed with their own web projects.First off, Beyond Bedding is an exclusive manufacturer of JoJo Designs Bedding products. For your children, Beyond Bedding offers a great variety of products. They have items such as Bed Skirts, Changing Pad Covers, Children's Lampshades, Children's Hampers, Musical Crib Mobiles, Wall Decor, Window Valances/Coverings and even Children's Clothing. Although I'm no interior decorator, the bedding styles appeared innovative and stylish enough to match most decors in homes. They offer popular colors like pinks, blues, stripes and various other patterns. If you browse through the site you'll definitely get the feeling of sleep ...

Can You Become a Millionaire by Age 30?
2008-04-23 21:40:00
WARNING: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THIS BOOK UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO BECOME FILTHY RICH. - Product disclaimer from Amazon.comIf you're over 30, don't despair because this just might apply to you as well. There's a new book out by Alan Corey which was profiled in the latest US News magazine. It has the lengthy title of A Million Bucks by 30: How to Overcome a Crap Job, Stingy Parents, and a Useless Degree to Become a Millionaire Before (or After) Turning Thirty. I like it. Alan's claim to fame is that he gave himself a goal of being a millionaire by the young age 30. After finishing college he put the plan in motion, but not by creating a fancy business or viral dotcom idea. He didn't go around networking with bigwigs to secure startup funds, or finding lots of iPods to sell on eBay. He simply started to cut costs by being the ultimate cheapskate. That's right, Alan would reuse old popcorn bags for refills at the movies (ethical?), find thrown out or used umbrellas, neve...

The Building of Your Dreams at Apex
2008-04-23 21:34:00
Yesterday was the great holiday known as Earth Day, and hopefully everyone celebrated by conserving energy, planting trees or being generally kinder to the planet. Today, The Monetizer would like to let you in on a website which could help you build your business and do so in an "eco-friendly" way. This website won't necessarily build your business itself, but it could build the place where your business and moneymaking will reside. A company known as Apex Building s provides a good resource for constructing Metal Buildings including those for Agricultural, Commercial, Industrial, Residential and Mini-Storage buildings. No matter what sort or size of business you want to build, it appears that Apex would have the ideal product for you. They offer over 20 years of metal building construction experience and will be able to help you match your needs. While I wasn't completely thrilled by the styling or color choices used on their site, the company has put together a helpful, in...

Celebrate Earth Day Today!
2008-04-22 21:18:00
Thankfully Google has their logo tricked out on almost every important day in the calendar year. Today 's Google logo image looks like this: That's right, April 22nd is Earth Day! The best way to celebrate is to be good to the Earth by conserving resources better, planting trees and trying to recycle appropriately. The Monetizer participated in the Earth's Dark hour last month, where lights were shut off for just 1 hour in an energy conservation effort. That's yet another way to celebrate, you could try reducing your electricity consumption today for an hour, or two, or as much as the entire day...It will go a long way to helping the place we all love to reside on and Make Money off of!Here's some suggestions for how to celebrate Earth Day :Plant some trees or flowers outside (on your own property).Wash your clothes in cold water.Hang your clothes out to dry on a line instead of using the dryer.Turn off lights or unnecessary appliances. Or try to go without them today!Adjus...

New Problogger & Adsense Books
2008-04-21 03:51:00
Apologies to anyone who's already read this news, but two interesting new books have recently been released to help moneymakers online. Joel Comm, Darren Rowse and Chris Garrett have lent their ideas and expertise to those looking for insight into blogging and making money online. In terms of blogging, Darren Rowse is a household name amongst most bloggers. He and Chris Garrett recently released their book "ProBlogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income", which can be ordered at Amazon. You can also download a sample teaser chapter from the book. The Monetizer fully endorses Darren as he's always got great advice and inspiration on his blog. The PDF download chapter is well worth checking out as it talks about Darren having to work 3 jobs as he gradually worked his way into blogging, eventually earning 6 figures. The book should be a great read describing Darren and Chris' paths towards blogging success. It will also provide you a roadmap to success, alo...

Blogging Your Thoughts for Free
2008-04-17 19:51:00
These days there's millions of blogs around with more people starting their own blogs daily. I'm not sure of the exact statistics, but I'm sure there's one of those "there's a new blog started every 25 seconds" type stats going around the internet and news sources. With blogging, many people who want to get started expressing their thoughts to friends, family and the world will quickly choose a free alternative, rather than using paid hosting with a domain. There's plenty of available options for free blog platforms such as Blogger, Wordpress, Myspace, and a newer site called "Thoughts .com". By Blogging at Thoughts.com you get the ability to have your own blog which will reside at http://www.thoughts.com/your_username. You also will have the ability to upload pictures, videos, do podcasting, chat in forums, and add friends to your public or private profile. Make Money Online Doing the ChaCha
2008-04-16 17:52:00
Special thanks to friend CyberGwen for informing me of the following way to make money online...This isn't quite Dancing with the Stars online, instead it's a website called "ChaCha", a place where people go to get answers. You might ask, "Isn't that handled by Google already?" Well, yes and no. Google is a very powerful search engine, but many people search and search for what they want and can't quite get the answer they are looking for. Sometimes you find yourself with a ton of listings that mention the terms you searched, but you don't have the precise info you wanted. ChaCha makes sure they do.ChaCha is geared mostly to the mobile phone/computer user looking for info on the go. An example the site gives is: "What hotel in downtown Cleveland has a business center?" Some people may find themselves sifting through search results to get the answer they really need, and if you're simply using a mobile phone, you want an answer faster. With ChaCha, a live guide will hel...
