The connection between two long sentences or paragraphs sometimes requires
2009-09-22 13:06:00
Diversity increases the chances of interesting material and just as it works with evolution so does it apply to communication. The interspersing of long statements with those of shorter length in a narrative keep it interesting and serve to give it a seamless continuity. The audience is therefore able to gain the facts being related in the narrative as well as develop some emphatic feel for the characters. With the transition of the shorter sentences, the audience is able to go back to their own resources and try judge for themselves the end to which the narrative is pointing. Along the way however, they may be proved farther away from the truth but in one way or the other they become an active part of the narrative. The longer statements with all their facts seem to pose a question to the audience on what they think will happen in the next stages of the story. With the transition, the short statements serve to relieve some of this tension and therefore throw the audience off-guard ...

Lenders Wanted – Borrowers Also – For the Peer-to-Peer Financia
2009-09-22 03:06:00
The LendingClub is being very aggressive in trying to introduce new lenders to the world of peer-to-peer finance. Be the 25,000th Investor and Win $2,500! Average net annualized returns over 9.6%. In this day of 1-2% interest rates on certificates of deposit, finding a method for capturing some return on cash is very difficult. A CD at a FDIC bank is a no lose situation, but does it put the investor in a plus position? Well, certainly not if inflation begins to rear its ugly head – money locked in a 36 or 48 month CD at a rate of return lower than inflation will be devastating to anyone dependent on that income stream. A balanced portfolio will include a certain amount of risk, which should bring a higher return for the money at risk. The P2P lending and borrowing world is helping to make that happen for the prudent investor. The LendingClub has facilitated $55 million in almost 4000 loans to people who have by-passed the bank and borrowed directly from investors. Inve...

Magic Quadrant for Midmarket and Tier 2-Oriented ERP for Product-Centric Co
2009-09-21 09:00:00
The Magic Quadrant for Midmarket and Tier 2-Oriented ERP for Product -Centric Companies addresses the needs of product-centric companies or divisions of enterprises with between 100-999 employees, and with annual revenue between $50 million and $1 billion. These enterprises have limited IT resources and seek ERP systems that support their differentiating business processes well with deep functionality, but do not require significant overhead in the non-differentiating business areas (meaning the systems must minimize Total Cost of Ownership [TCO] and complexity). Although some see this market as large and mature, Gartner see this market as undergoing a "change of the guard," with older, established systems with deep functionality being displaced by more modern and agile systems.Request Free!
Grammar Check – Let each sentence have one principal subject of thoug
2009-09-21 01:13:00
Let each sentence have one, and only one, principal subject of thought — Avoid heterogeneous sentences The writing process is not very easy but if you follow the rules regarding grammar, sentence construction, and paragraphing and others, it becomes a lot easier. It is always good to make your sentences easily understandable whether you use simple, compound or complex ones. This means that for you to be more clear on what you want to pass on, you should have one principal thought or idea for every sentence. When you make your sentences heterogeneous, you make it look like your thoughts are not organized and the reader can be easily misled. The main idea of a sentence should always come first too so that it is easier for the reader to follow and identify the main idea with whatever additional information you may be giving. For instance, “It was a beautiful dress with a unique design and adorned with splendid flowers.” The main idea of the sentence is “It was a beautiful...

Microsoft Windows 7 Release Date is the 22nd of October 2009
2009-09-20 20:47:00
Finally, a new version of Windows to extend the already lengthy life of a tired platform. I am a big proponent of evolution, but Microsoft has again punted with a micro-evolutionary move from the (relatively) solid Windows XP operating system. Microsoft Vista was more like a mutated post-apocalyptic mistake that may seem to have been revolutionary by some, but over reaching and stagnant by most. How many organization do you know that migrated to Vista? I would guess you could not name many – if any. Looking back over the progression of the Windows platform, Windows 2000 was really a revolution – an honest break from the old 16-bit DOS platform. Windows XP was a really good evolutionary step after 2000 – it certainly did not have the DNA makeup that allows it to be seen as a revolution from 2000. However, it did set the stage – and the expectations for a new and ground breaking new version of Windows – that became Vista. Such sadness. Not to say ...

When “not only” precedes “but also,” see that each
2009-09-20 14:28:00
For a sentence to be grammatically correct it has to have ‘not only’ and ‘but also’ used correctly. Every time that ‘not only’ is used in the beginning of the sentence it has to be followed by ‘but also’. ‘Not only’ and ‘but also’ are known as conjunctions, but to be more specific, a paired conjunction like this is known as a correlative conjunction. “Not only…but also” is used to link clauses, phrases and words. The other types of correlative conjunctions include the following: • Whether…or • Neither…nor • Just as…so • Either…or • Both…and • As…as • Not only…but even, etc. Many people make mistakes when using the correlative conjunctions, by grouping them in an improper way. Once you have placed “not only” and left it hanging, a given sentence will automatically create an error in the text flow or even in speech. ‘Not only… but also’ is aimed at creating equality meaning that it has to be properly used to be...

The principle of Suspense – Check your Grammar
2009-09-19 19:14:00
Language dictates that one of the most effective techniques be used for the delivery of any kind of message is suspense. Suspense being one of the most favored elements of conversation brings about such delivery in a most appealing way. The structure of the narrative in question should therefore be maintained for as long as this element serves its purpose. However, introduction of a component of the story at an inappropriate point makes the use of suspense all too useless. One should learn that with suspense the information that has been withheld all through the statement should be introduced either gradually or suddenly as fits the circumstances. This should however not happen if your audience is totally unprepared for the facts you are about to divulge. One should therefore leave the attention of the audience to fill in the left out details in order to hold their interest for a significant length of time. Introduction of your own opinion or assessment of the circumstance being n...

2009-09-19 14:49:00
In a sentence with “if,” “when,” “though,” put the “if-clause,” antecedent, or protasis, first. There is richness in the antecedent once “if” is used to introduce the statement. A certain amount of tension is introduced into the statement such that the audience’s attention is attracted to the appeal made to their senses. With the “if-clause” in this position, you can now explain the main object of your statement as the interest of your audience has been captured effectively. Serving to allude to the probability of another action or the credibility of chance, the “if-clause” engages the audience in a thinking process of what would have happened. In other cases, the audience is served by prospects of the action which they would have taken in the communicated instance. “When” and “though” serve to express the circumstance in which the subject in the statement is in. The “if-clause” on the other hand brings about ...
