More Than Just Another Day at the Office
2007-11-03 01:51:00
In addition to my job as a notary public I also work part-time at a hotel in their business center. The plus factor with this job is that when it's quiet I can pretty much do what I want. So I spend most of my down time surfing the web, marketing, and blogging. Before I left the house this morning I had prayed that it would be a nice quiet day so I could spend time doing "my stuff". Well, true to the words at Ecclesiastes 9:11,'unforeseen occurrence befalls us all' because I had a pretty steady flow of people today, even though I had hoped the opposite would be the case.Thankfully, I still had enough time to put up my new affiliate links on a couple of my blogs, find a new blogger template, and apply to be an affiliate with Vista Print. What really made my day though was the fact that Rhonda Britten, life coach extraordinaire, motivational speaker, and best-selling author, walked into my office.I have been a fan of Rhonda's since I read her first book Fearless Living, which furthe...

Notary Signing Agent System
2007-06-23 06:58:00
There are times when things just work out better when you have a system so I’ve decided to write out the process I follow when I am called to perform a loan signing. Print the confirmation. Call the borrowers to confirm the appointment and inform them that I will need current I.D. to complete the signing. I also leave them my name and number in case of any changes on their end. Mapquest directions to the appointment. Print documents, if required. Print loan doc coversheet for borrowers and lender. Arrive at appointment on time. Complete signing with borrowers. Contact originating company with status and document tracking number. Ship documents to lender or title. 10. Log appointment payment and mileage information. Then I'm ready for my next assignment.Long Beach, Ca Mobile Notary & Loan Signing Agent

I?ve Achieved My Goal ? Google Page 1!
2007-06-23 06:55:00
After 3 months of diligent effort I've finally reached page "1" of Google . A search for "Long Beach Notary," "Long Beach Mobile Notary," "Long Beach Loan Signing Agent," and "90802 Notary" all lead to me, The Document Diva. When I first created my website I knew nothing about page rank, SEO (search engine optimization), blogging, or anything else that would increase my chances of being found in a web search. But thanks to free profile listing sites, help from Sharon Hassler of GoGetNotary and Hazzaa Kassis of the United Notary Association of America, and the amazing tips offered on ActiveRain, I'm now ranking right up there with the big guys! This has been a fun and informative learning experience. I'm also seeing an increase in my business, which is what this is all about. Thanks again to everyone for being so willing to help. Professional, punctual, precise...Guaranteed to notarize it right the first time! - The Document Diva

Notary Signing Agent - A Thing of the Past?
2007-06-18 06:01:00
As of June 11, 2007 Fidelity National Information Services announced the launch of ClosingStream 1.1, a Web-based closing solution for mortgage refinance and home equity lending transactions. According to the press release the software allows all the documents to be signed electronically. With help of ClosingStream "the need to coordinate with several third-party providers. As a result, the borrower may schedule the secure closing as early as possible during the application process. Also, since this closing session is Web-based, the borrower may participate from any geographic location." This software could eventually eliminate the job of the notary signing agent because if a document needs notarization the originating company would sign for the borrowers by power of attorney.Of course, many fellow signing agents are in an uproar because this new technology directly affects their livelihood. As a loan signing agent that takes pride in her profession, I too will be saddened if this t...

New Notary Products
2007-06-16 04:24:00
Recently Los Angeles, CA had the pleasure (or displeasure depending on your feelings) of hosting the 2007 NNA Conference. I personally didn't attend but I was informed of a couple new products that are directed at Notary Publics.Below are excerpts from a newsletter sent out by GoGetNotary. New Notary Products We found a couple of new notary products we liked. First was NotaryAssist software. We were fortunate to meet the husband and wife team, Gary and Sue Hope, who founded the company and originated this product. She was a notary signing agent and he was a programmer. Gary watched Sue struggle with Excel spreadsheets, Word documents and bookkeeping software, trying to make everything mesh together and becoming more frustrated the busier she got. Being the supportive husband he is, a few years ago, he and his development team put their 15 years of programming experience into designing software just for notaries. Sue's hands-on daily use gave them precise feedback to refine the pro...

Non-Loan Notary Work
2007-06-16 04:19:00
I have a friend that is a paralegal in Long Beach, CA so recently I've been able to do some non-loan signing work for her. The latest adventure was yesterday. After a drive out to Glendale (about 30 miles from Long Beach, CA) I completed the notarizations. The good thing about men is that sometimes they're just not willing to do their research. I told him my travel fee would go up if I have to drive to Glendale and he was willing to pay it just to make things easier so he wouldn't have to search for a local notary.I'm now going to research some local paralegal associations so I'll have the opportunity to meet more paralegals. Sometimes we're so focused on loan work we forget about other ways to make money with our stamp & journal. And the great thing about non-loan work is you get paid then and there, not weeks later.

Professionalism in the Digital Age
2007-06-05 01:22:00
Many people speak of the importance of being professional in the business world but unfortunately, this subject is talked about more than practiced. Dictionary definitions speak of a professional as an individual that is an expert in his or her field but when it comes to the business world acting as a professional entails how someone presents oneself at work, among his colleagues, and with customers. And now in the digital era, we have to consider how we present ourselves on our website, in e-mail, and in our blogs. When you’re digital a lot of your personality can become lost. Whether you meant something as a joke, sarcastically, or with no harm at all can be misinterpreted when you’re online. This calls for caution when using bold, capital, or red letters in your correspondence and to read and reread your transmissions before you push send or publish. When you circulate something on the web it can be nearly impossible to remove what is published so you would want to be extra c...

Recuperate, Revitalize, & Recharge!
2007-05-31 06:21:00
(I love alliteration! I feel like Dr. Seuss)I was totally enjoyed my extended weekend. That extra day of relaxation was a long time coming. Most of the time we have so much going on in our lives it seems we can never get a breather. Then there's added pressure if you're self-employed. There's no promise of a paycheck come Friday, it's totally up to you to bring in the money. My mind is usually running a million miles a minute with marketing ideas, ways to increase my Google ranking, what to blog about next, the layout of my new business cards, etc. So when I knew I had a day off in which I didn't have to think about anything I was ecstatic!Sunday evening my husband and I had dinner at our local Outback Steakhouse. After my meal of coconut battered shrimp, steamed broccoli, and a sweet potato topped with butter and brown sugar I was more than satisfied. Then we rented a paddleboat from Alfredo's family fun center on a man-made lake near the beach across from Shoreline Village ...

Ensuring Error Free Loans
2007-05-31 06:11:00
Purchasing property is a numerous step process that requires many hands until the loan is complete. One of the final steps prior to funding is to have some of the loan documents notarized. This requires a Notary Public. Not just any notary, but a notary that is a Certified Loan Signing agent is preferred because they have been trained in the loan signing process and are familiar with the loan documents. Enlisting a trained professional minimizes errors that may delay loan funding. What makes a great Certified Loan Signing Agent?Professional - always courteous and friendly to everyone involved in the loan signing process. Dresses in business attire to all appointments.Punctual - arrives to scheduled signing on time. Arriving 5 to 10 minutes late is not acceptable. They will strive to be on time, if not early.Precise - insures all signatures and initials are captured. Notarizes all required documents. Includes loose-leaf notarial certificates, if needed. Checks, double checks, and ev...

Can You Be Coached to Greatness?
2007-05-29 08:04:00
A professional athlete would never reach greatness without their coach helping them along the way. The coach teaches him/her the skills, rules and tactics involved in their particular sport. Practice sessions may consist of on-court demonstration and walkthroughs to learn plays and strategies. Today, there are coaches in many professions, not just athletics. There are business, money, life, dating, career coaches and more. According to a Wikipedia definition a personal coach relationship is designed and defined by an agreement between the clients and coach. It is based on the client’s expressed interests, goals, and objectives. Clients are responsible for their own achievement and success. A coach cannot promise the client they will take any specific action or attain specific goals. If you have decided to start a new business venture, hiring a coach or enlisting the help of a mentor can be invaluable to your ultimate success. Because a coach or mentor is more ...

How I Got Started In The Notary Business
2007-05-29 07:47:00
Have you ever had a job you absolutely couldn't stand? Well, that was my job of two years with Wherehouse Music. I was an administrative assistant for a one of their district managers one year and their loss prevention manager the next. Neither of these people could type to save theirs lives so ALL of the typing was left up to me.All of that typing eventually led to tendonitis in my right hand which traveled to my neck, back and eventually my left side. After more than a year of physical therapy and time off work I refused to return to Corporate America. I started investigating independent, flexible careers which led me to get my tax preparers, notary, and insurance license. While three years later I no longer prepare taxes and I've decreased my attention on my career as an insurance agent, I'm still a notary in the loan signing business. This year I've changed my focus and my business name. I'm now the Document Diva and loving every minute of it! It's so me.
