Fed Up? Or fed up?
2008-03-12 00:25:00
Since this blog has quality articles, they are few and spread out, and if checked historically, do give accurate predictions.Speaking of which, lets come to the current situation of the US Economy and the US Dollar, being aggravated by the Federal Reserve.True. Most media, if not all, at this point of time will be celebrating the odd 400 point rise in the Dow, the end of the liquidity problem, the days rise in the US Dollar vs the Euro and other world currencies. Not to mention that it is only reflecting the current sentiments (emotions?) on Wall Street. The intelligence and logic behind the move and its long term impacts are not fully understood though, and in this day and age of short term gain, who cares whether the ship sinks, if its going to stay afloat a little longer?Firstly, let us understand that this is the trump card that the Fed probably should have never disclosed, which indicated how serious the US Credit Crisis is, and also how deep in troubled waters the US Economy is....
Energy Issues: The Jevons Paradox
2007-12-18 11:13:00
The Jevons Paradox is an interesting concept and very real. What it basically says is that when a resource is used more efficiently, due to better technology, additional demand is created. This additional demand far exceeds the conservation effect of technological efficiency, resulting in the resource being consumed more.In real life, there will be an initial decrease in the price due to technological advancements, but that will spurt the demand for the future. For non-renewable/limited resources, with the increase in demand, prices will increase again in the future, since the supply is always limited or can be increased slightly only. Now this seems like common sense, but, in effect, it means that all these technology driven oil conservation efforts go to waste.Currently, the most energy efficient resource, being oil, is the one undergoing the depletion threat due to better efficiencies, which kept prices low for a long time, letting demand increase to unsustainable levels, and only ...

This blog covers a variety of real issues & hidden agenda that I may want to share with you, which may or may not be useful to you, but that's subjective. Articles may cover simple as well as complex materials and thoughts. From something that you know, to something that you thought you knew. From something that you may have come across elsewhere to things you will not, which will most probably be the case here. I offer a frank, critical view, mostly ending on the wrong side of political correctness. For I seek the right questions, before exploring the answers. If you do not like to think, or reality burdens you, or if you do not like to concern yourself with various issues which may seem irrelevant now, you may not enjoy this site. My observations and opinions on various ideas and issues and conceptions of truth, reality and others such abstractions may be redefining or just too abstract. Or they may not.

Sub-Prime Rising...East Rising...
2007-12-11 11:59:00
There is a growing trend of the new or developing world slowly replacing, or rather buying out the old developed one. This is accelerated by matters such as the current US Sub-Prime Crisis (click here for a detailed graphic analysis by the BBC) which has severely affected the western banks and left the new world eastern banks mostly untouched (2 Chinese banks are know to be exposed). The Indian banks have negligible-exposure. This may well be said of all such banks that do not invest heavily in the US mortgage bond market. Japanese banks being highly invested in the US have suffered losses.Currently, the western banking and financial institutions are in the 'bail-out'/'sell-out' frenzy and are approaching the new world East ern investors, who have surplus cash, and the ability to digest high risk. This article on the recent buy-out of a large stake in UBS by the East says it all.For a better idea of the Citibank deal mentioned in that article, refer to this article by my mate, 't...
The Rise & Fall of 'The Super Power'... A Historical Perspective
2007-12-10 12:24:00
Since the fall of the British Empire, there have been a few 'Super Power s' that came to be. Demi-Empires of sorts. There was the short lived German effort, quick to rise, and fall as well, due to worldly as well as resource pressures. There was the Russian juggernaut, fated to collapse and move on as a democracy.Meanwhile, in the background, somehow clawing its way up since its independence, the reason for all their collapses, was another Super Power. It wanted to be the one and only Super Power... the United States of America.Besides gaining independence early on, unlike the other British colonies though, it was very large & powerful, and decided to emulate its Mother, the British Empire, in dividing-and-selling (rather than ruling), in return for its self gain.United with the world against Germany while supplying the Germans with fuel during the great World Wars until it got bitten itself, helping Japan against its neighbours, until it got bitten itself, which presented it ...

Oil Reserves - The Truth Behind the Lies
2007-12-09 20:47:00
I will enlighten you on a very basic concept that investors, the general public, and governments are currently in awe of... the concept of Oil Reserves .There are few basic issues regarding this concept which are never addressed though, because if you knew the truth, how would 'they' make money?'They' are the oil companies, the OPEC governments, the US government, and the Wall Street Scamsters (Politicians, Businessmen and their supported Oil Traders), each having their own share of the pie.Your regular small-time 'Wall Streeter' will talk a lot about 'Oil Reserves' though he may not really know the truth behind it, and invest at the worst possible time.Reason: Stock FluctuationReason behind Stock Fluctuation: Oil Fluctuation!Reason behind the Oil Fluctuation: Oil Reserve Estimates! And as normal public, we see everything getting expensive, fuel for the car, to plastic, to paint, to practically anything and everything.Reason: InflationReason behind Inflation: General Trend of ...
