Restriction of irresponsible alcohol promotions
2010-10-27 09:43:00 The Department for Social Development (DSD) have launched an eight-week consultation on their proposals to prohibit or restrict irresponsible alcohol promotions.Subject to this consultation, certain drink promotions may become banned in the future. This may affect: happy hours discount nights, where drinks are sold to particular groups of customers at a discounted price special offers, such as 'two for the price of one' or 'women drink for free' all-inclusive deals, such as 'all you can drink for £10' other types of drink or price promotions which encourage alcohol misuse The Department is keen to address harmful drinking and would like to hear from everyone who will be affected by the changes, including consumers of alcohol, trade associations, criminal justice workers or those who run or work in pubs, clubs, supermarkets or other outlets selling alcohol.
