Angel Customers - A New Breed of Investors?
2008-05-07 23:57:00 Angel Customer - An individual customer or a client of a product or a service who invests his or her own money into the startup providing those services. Sounds crazy? It shouldn't. Just think about it. How good would you think a product or service must be if one or more customers using it is willing to invest his/her money into the company behind it. Darn good! I personally would atleast think so. Such an act is definitely an excellent form of attestation to the product/service and would stand as a great testimony beyond doubt. Still think I'm crazy? ;-) Check this out - WhyPark.com says it raised US$230K in angel funding from one of its customers - an investor and domainer named Alan Macomber. 2008-03-25 06:32:00 While looking for a way to integrate commenting system into "Startups in India" site, we've come across this uber cool commenting system called Disqus whose simplicity just blew us away. Once we figured out the page where this has to be integrated, it took us less than a minute to get this up and running. A very slick implementation. Great work team@Disqus. Thanks to you, we finally have the comment system back in operation. Would love to see such startups come out of India. Well, simply because we're in a time crunch and cannot keep up with all the mails and requests to review startups, new product, service launches, feature enhancements etc., in addition to other related stuff. While we already provided a way for individuals to publish news on their own on Startups.in without requiring our intervention at startups in news, it looks like people still find it cumbersome or are just lazy. ;-) So in an attempt to simplify it further, we came up with this idea to allow anyone to quickly publish anything related to startups in twitter style. GetDropBox Invites To Be Limited
2008-03-14 00:27:00 I've lost count on number of GetDropBox invites I sent out and the number of emails I have replied to in the last 48 hours. But all good things have to come to an end (well, not really ;-) ) and so does this invite bonanza. Drew Houston, the CEO of GetDropBox sent a note stating that they will be changing the policy in the next 1 hr or so and implement a 5 person limit on invites.
