Corel Extends CorelDRAW Graphics Suite to Takes Design Online

Feb 01, 2008 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) — Corel , a developer of graphics, productivity and digital media software, announced that the newest version of its graphics suite, CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4, is now fully integrated with Bitstream s WhatTheFont service and ConceptShare, two web applications that accelerate the design process by providing users with online access to font identification and client feedback. In December, Corel and ConceptShare, a company advancing online collaboration, announced the launch of CorelDRAWConceptShare.com, a site where CorelDRAW users could share designs online and collaborate with clients and colleagues. Wilcom and Corel launch DecoStudio

Embroidery and decorations technology developer Wilcom International and digital media software provider Corel have collaborated to launch the DecoStudio, a new graphics and embroidery technology for users in the apparel and promotional items industries. According to the company, DecoStudio offers the ease-of-use for CorelDRAW graphics suite while delivering the digitizing quality of Wilcom ES. With DecoStudio users can combine embroidery and print and can move between vector art and embroidery elements, while keeping everything in one file for production purposes. After seven years as the most popular colour for a car, silver has been replaced by white/white pearl. The DuPont 2007 Global Automotive Colour Popularity Report shows that white/white pearl, silver and black/black effect are in a virtual tie for first place, with white/white pearl narrowly taking the top spot in North America. White also overcame silver in Japan and is the decisive leader in Mexico. The US-based DuPont group supplies vehicles coatings to vehicle manufacturers. Looking back, my first experience with convergence happened sitting in a movie house in Boston circa 1965. I was a teenager, aspiring photographer, and serious fan of French new wave cinema. I was watching a film by Jean-Luc Godard when the moving images suddenly became interspersed with captivating still images: a face distressed, a look back over the shoulder, a moment of joy. The still photographs were profoundly powerful and, more importantly, fell seamlessly in step with the moving images. The final scene in Truffauts The 400 Blows comes to mind as well, when the lead character is frozen in a still image that sums up the realization of his existential dilemma. The still image flowing from the moving image, and vice versa. For the past many decades the moving image and the still image have prospered independently. The word on everyones lips, in everyones heart, and on everyones shopping list is THIN. The new MacBook Air, or as some of us fondly refer to it, the SliceBook, has taken our collective breath away. The whole Keynote at Macworld Expo 08 in San Francisco was lean and mean. Even Jobs was looking extra thin. I suggested hed been on a diet as a prototyping experiment, a sort of proof of concept for the new MacBook Air, testing to see if you could be so thin, and still wield power. But thats not what was so impressive. What impressed us about this product introduction wasnt what youd think. Sure, the display is bright and sharp. The weight is half of the sibling MacBook. The keyboard is a merging of the best of the MacBook Pro with the clean comfort of the MacBook not pro. Well, we can all let out our breath now. The year is new, last years gone. And Pantone has announced its color of the year for 2008. Its a boy. An ambivalent boy, it seems. Blue Iris, or as we in the biz like to call it, familiarly, PANTONE 18-3943, is the color. Leatrice Eiseman, one of those color wonks at Pantone tries to justify the choice, oAs a reflection of the times, Blue Iris brings together the dependable aspect of blue, underscored by a strong, soul-searching purple cast. Emotionally, it is anchoring and meditative with a touch of magic. Look for it artfully combined with deeper plums, red-browns, yellow-greens, grapes and grays.” o And this is what I come away with after that. What kind of name is Leatrice? Blue Iris is a purpley color. Im not so sure about its soul-searching capability, but it does remind me of one of those colors I might see on a live link on a web page.
