Thornburg Mortgage (NYSE: TMA) is feeling the heat of the ongoing subprime mortgage crisis. Recently, the company narrowly escaped seeking bankruptcy-court protection by raising $1.35 billion through selling bonds, warrants and interests in certain mortgage assets. In early March, Thornburg faced nearly $1.8 billion in margin calls since the beginning of the year.
