First Review of G92 Core 8800GS

According to NVIDIA, G92 core 8800GS just aims to the OEM market. But it is said that the AICs have their own plans. GeForce 8800GS 384MB will be $149-179 and it will replace GeForce 8600GTS. GeForce 8800GS built in 6 groups and 96 Streaming Processors in total, each group has 8 Texture Filtering Unit and 8 Texture Addressing Unit, the stepping reduced to 12 from 16. It matched 192bit memory controller and 384MB memory, so its HDR and FSAA will not as good as GeForce 8800GT.Below is the 3DMark05, 06 test. AMD has recently outlined the phase-out schedule for several of its Athlon 64 X2 CPUs, while the Athlon brand name will be re-purposed for upcoming dual-core CPUs based on the K10 core, according to sources at motherboard makers.AMD will stop taking orders for Athlon 64 X2 6400+ black edition and 89W version Athlon 64 X2 6000+ processors in the first quarter of 2008. Phenom Compatibility Issues

Tomshardware took a look at Phenom compatibility and tried to test it on ten AM2 motherboards which were supposed to support it.The results were disappointing. AMD's new quad core only worked with two Asus boards, while the remaining Biostar, Foxconn, Epox, MSI and Gigabyte boards weren't in a mood to cooperate.Tomshardware concludes that as an upgrade option the Phenom is not yet mature, as the vast majority of motherboard manufacturers haven't done much to make it run on "old" AM2 motherboards. Although upgrading your Athlon 64 X2 system with a 165 euro quad core CPU seems like a tempting prospect it might be wise to wait for the new B3 stepping and motherboard updates. Source

AMD has recently adjusted its triple-core CPU model numbers and launch dates, according to sources at motherboard makers.AMD will launch two B2 stepping triple-core CPUs, Phenom 8600 and 8400 in March of next year, while in the second quarter, the company will launch three more models, Phenom 8700, 8650 and 8450.The Phenom 8400 and 8600 will feature core frequencies of 2.1GHz and 2.3GHz, respectively, while the Phenom 8700 will clock at 2.4GHz. Mid - Range Nvidia G94 Cards In February

Digitimes reports that Nvidia will launch the mid-range part for its GeForce 9600 GPU series, codenamed D9P or G94, in February 2008, according to sources with graphics cards makers.The G94, the first mid-range GPU to feature a 256bit memory interface, is expected to pose a strong challenge to AMD's Radeon HD 3850 (RV670PRO) of the same class, the sources commented.The sources revealed that while Nvidia's latest entry-level G98 (D8M) GPU, made at the 65nm process, has started shipping since early December, the G94 will make its debut on February 14. The G94 will also be made on a 65nm process at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the sources added. The sources previously had said Nvidia would roll out the D9P in June 2008.The G94, with its official price temporarily set at US$169, features 64 stream processors and supports PureVideo Gen 2, the sources said.

AppleInsider reported Friday that Apple has decided to use Intel 's upcoming low-power Silverthorne chip in "not one but multiple products currently situated on its 2008 calendar year product roadmap." AMD Phenom CPUs To Be Further Delayed

AMD has recently notified its partners that the launch of higher-end quad-core Phenom processors, including the 9700 and 9900, will be postponed to the second quarter of 2008 from the original schedule of early 2008, according to sources at motherboard makers.However, whether AMD's triple-core Toliman series CPUs will also see delay will be the key decision for the company, since Toliman offers a high price/performance ratio compared with Intel 's quad-core CPUs. A delay for Toliman will hurt AMD the most, noted the sources. The sources commented that the reason for the delay of 9700 and 9900 is because AMD has not yet been able to solve the translation lookaside buffer (TLB) erratum found in the chips. Madboxpc has managed to get their hands on what appears to be the full specifications of and accompanying pictures of the upcoming Radeon HD 3450, 3470 and 3670. Starting with the HD 3450, in this instance it's a low profile card with a D-sub and DisplayPort connector, it has a core clock of 525MHz with the memory at 400 or 800MHz effectively, it has 256B of DDR2 memory and a 64-bit memory interface. Sadly the reference design incorporates a tiny fan cooler, but hopefully this won't appear on any retail cards.The HD 3470 is a full size card, although this doesn't seem like it's a requirement, as most of the PCB is empty. What struck us straight away is that this card features CrossFire bridge connectors, while cards we've seen elsewhere don't. Intel has recently adjusted its product strategy and will postpone three 45nm quad-core CPUs that were originally scheduled to launch in January next year, according to sources at motherboard makers.Intel has already notified its partners that it will push back the launch of the three CPUs to February or March next year, depending on AMD's schedule for triple-core and the upcoming Phenom CPUs.Launch ing the CPUs now will not benefit Intel much in its battle with AMD, while they could cause damage to Intel's 65nm quad-core CPUs, therefore the company has decided it is in no rush to release new products until AMD is able to present more of a threat.
