In order to prepare students laptops in advance of classes, the Business School's Information Technology Group (ITG) offers incoming students a pre-configuration website which allows students to prepare their laptops prior to the on campus configuration session. Students can sign up for a pre-term Laptop Config uration Session through their to-do list on the admitted student website.ITG has developed a “Drop-off Laptop Configuration” program to make this process less time consuming for students. Prior to Orientation, students will access the ITG Student Configuration site through a link in the to-do list on the admitted student site. Company says personal information untapped on stolen laptop

DALLAS — The chief executive of a personnel-services company said Thursday there is no indication that anyone has tapped personal information on nearly 160,000 people that was contained on a stolen computer.Paul J. Sarvadi, the CEO of Houston-based Administaff Inc., said the company has finished notifying people whose information was on the computer.Administaff disclosed last week that the laptop computer was reported missing Oct. 3. The machine had information including Social Security numbers, names and addresses for 63,000 employees and 96,000 former employees who were paid by the company, which provides personnel services for small businesses.Sarvadi said the missing computer hasn't been recovered. He said it was stolen from an employee's car, which was parked outside a grocery store.The computer was password-protected, but the personal information was not kept in an encrypted file, in violation of company policy, he said.The company offered to pay for one year of credit-mon...

All laptops are loaded with Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, and Netscape. The laptops are wireless and can be used anywhere on campus that has a wireless network. Laptops can be borrowed at the Edmon Low Libra ry Circulation Desk. Everyone must sign a Statement of Responsibility before using the laptops. Users are responsible for a laptop while it is checked out to them and will be charged for lost, stolen, or damaged equipment. A fee sheet is attached to the Statement of Responsibility. You will receive a copy of the Statement of Responsibility in the mail.
